Saint Louis Game Notes vs. Ball State, 1/4/09 2-2-2 events, conferences and conventions. The arena houses the department of athletics offi ces as well as a practice facility for the basketball and volleyball teams, Chaifetz Pavilion. The building is named after Dr. Richard A. Chaifetz, who donated a $12 million naming gift to the University. A 1975 SLU graduate, Dr. Chaifetz is chairman and CEO of ComPsych Corp. GIMME SHIMMY Shimmy Gray-Miller is in her fourth season as the Billikens head coach. Inheriting a team that won only four games during the 2004-05 campaign, her fi rst SLU squad went 7-20. However, Gray-Miller led the 2006-07 Bills to a 13-17 record that included the program s fi rst conference tournament victory since 2002, a 69-61 win over Richmond. Last season s team posted a 10-20 mark. A 1994 University of Michigan graduate, Gray-Miller is the sixth head coach in Saint Louis women s basketball history and carries a 34-66 career record. IT S A FAMILY AFFAIR When Theresa Lisch scored her 1,000th career point at Colorado, she and her brother, Kevin, became members of an elite group in college basketball history. They are one of just four known sister-brother combinations in NCAA Division I to score at least 1,000 points at the same school. The other three are Rashanda (1,276 points/2005-present) and Rashad (1,721/2002-05) McCants of North Carolina; Chari (1,964/1995-99) and Jeff (1,214/1994-96) Nordgaard of Wisconsin- Green Bay; and Ann (1,685/1975-78) and David (1,046/1973-75) Meyers of UCLA. Theresa Lisch ranks 13th on the SLU women s career scoring list with 1,030 points, just 34 behind 12th-place Nancy Mueller. Kevin Lisch ranks eighth on the men s chart with 1,422 points (prior to Jan. 2 game). BOARD GAME Saint Louis has out-rebounded fi ve of its last seven opponents and is a combined +27 (3.9 per game) on the boards during that stretch. For the season, the Bills have gained the upper hand seven times and have tied one opponent. Two of the fi ve opponents that have out-rebounded SLU have earned the edge by just one carom. ON TARGET The Billikens are fi fth in the Atlantic 10 in 3-point percentage, connecting at a 35.9-percent clip (56-of-156). Theresa Lisch is tied for seventh in the league in 3-pointers per game (1.92). LISCH THE LEADER Theresa Lisch continues to pace the A-10 in scoring with 18.5 points per game. She is 2.3 points per game ahead of the league s No. 2 scorer. Her 32-point performance at Morehead State is tied for the highest scoring output by an A-10 women s player this season. Lisch is also third in the conference with an 86.4 percent (76-of-88) free-throw shooting mark. She has made 41 of her last 42 free throws including a 12-of-12 effort at Wyoming, the best foul-shooting performance by an A-10 player (female or male) this year. SECOND CHANCES As they were last season, the Billikens are strong on the offensive glass. Saint Louis ranks third in the A-10 with 14.3 offensive rebounds per game and holds a 186-150 edge (+2.77 per game) over its opponents in that category. Heather King is tied for ninth in the conference in offensive rebounding with a 2.62 average. STRONG AT THE STRIPE The Billikens are shooting 75.6 percent (93-of-123) from the foul line in their last fi ve games, lifting their season mark from 66 percent to 69.7 percent.
