Dear Teachers, Firstly, we would like to thank you all for supporting our 2011 feis. We are returning to the same venue as last year, St Gregory the Great RC School, which has excellent facilities which I am sure you will all agree make the Feis a very pleasant one to attend. Please note the closing date for entries is Friday 11th May 2012. We would really appreciate if the closing date can be adhered to. Please note the new SERC rule For the 2 week period following the initial closing date late entries will be accepted but are subject to a 2 admin fee per dancer. Entries will be accepted up until and including the day of the competition, but will be subject to a 5 admin fee per dancer. Novice (bun ghrad), Primary (tus Ghrad) and (mean Ghrad) are open to dancers from ALL regions worldwide. We have invited 6 very accomplished adjudicators and 2 excellent musicians to be with us for the weekend. All Open and Preliminary s will be adjudicated by a panel of 3 adjudicators. Des Silke will be providing the marks for the weekend and as usual will ensure results are given promptly. Printed results will be available after the Results have been presented. John and Rose Clark from Feiswear will be attending the feis where you can buy shoes, socks, CDs etc. Melaine Murphy will also be in attendance, selling wigs, tiaras and other accessories. John and Noreen Egan from Feispix will be taking photos of presentations as well as studio photos. There will be hot and cold refreshments available all weekend from our canteen which this year will be run by the Marion Flanagan School itself. 2012 RULES & REGULATIONS 1 Lodgment of entries at our feis implies that you acknowledge and accept all of the rules set down by An Coimisiun Le Rince Gaelacha & Southern England Regional Council, as well as the additional rules listed below. 2 Ages to be taken from the 1st January of the current year 3 The Adjudicator's decision is final. 4 Committee members only may approach the adjudicator. 5 Any objections must be presented in writing to the Feis Secretary along with a 25.00 fee. This will be refunded if an objection is upheld. 6 Entries will only be accepted from schools registered with the An Coimisiun and entry forms must be signed by the registered teacher. Entries with no fee will not be processed or acknowledged. 7 Entries, on the enclosed form (in age & grade order) along with the correct entry fee must reach Marion Flanagan on or before Friday 11 th May 2012. Cheques should be made payable to Marion Flanagan School of Irish Dancing. 8 New entries will be accepted on the day of the feis, but please note that an additional 5 will be payable with all entries received on the day. 9 No refunds will be made on the day of the feis and will only be considered upon receipt of a written request from the teacher. 10 All competitors may be required to produce their birth certificate/passport as proof of age. 11 Competitors are advised to be in attendance and ready to dance at least 15 minutes before the stated time. 12 Any competitor found to be using artificial carriage aids and subsequently refuses to remove same will be subject to disqualification from that particular competition. Medically prescribed apparatus, proof of which may be required, will be exempt from this ruling. 13 Any form of unauthorised photography which has the capability to capture a dancer's image whilst in motion, using electronic or manual means, e.g. mobile phone, standard camera, video camcorder, cine recorder, commercial film, with or without flash enhancement, is expressly forbidden except in Novice and Primary. 14 Photographs taken at awards ceremonies are permitted but must be for private use and not published on the internet unless written permission has been obtained from all parties in said photograph. 15 Dancers must be properly attired throughout the whole competition, and must be in full costume and appropriate footwear when receiving awards. Dancers may not change in competition halls. 16 The Feis organiser must provide non-slip flooring for every dance surface; however the feis organiser cannot accept any liability for injuries sustained whilst dancing. 17 Any competitions can be moved to another hall at the discretion of the Feis Secretary. 18 Parents are responsible for the conduct of their children, at all times, whilst attending Feiseanna in the Southern England Region, and will be liable for any damages. 19 The Feis Organisers accept no responsibility for any loss or damage to personal property. 20 NO SMOKING is permitted in the school grounds if you wish to smoke you must do so outside the school gates. 21 In all heavy dances, the lead around must be danced on both the right and left foot. 22 All grade competitions are open to all regions. 23 All Novice (Bun Ghrad) and Primary (Tus Ghrad) dancers may only wear a class costume, simple dancewear or appropriate attire (skirt & top or simple dress for girls and trousers, shorts and t-shirt or shirt for boys) in competitions up to and including the Under 12 Age Group.
2012 RULES & REGULATIONS (continued) 24 Make-up will not be permitted for any dancer in the first two grades up to and including the Under 12 age group Worldwide. Failure to comply with this rule may lead to disqualification from the competition. 25 The Basic Step Rule will apply to all Novice (Bun Ghrad) competitions as per the Southern England Regional Council. 26 An Coimisiun has ruled that from 1st January of each year, that no block,en pointe,stationary or moving be allowed to be performed for all ages up to and including the under 12 age group Worldwide. From 1st September, the under 12 age group will be entitled to perform this movement. 27 Competitors must dance in their own age group for solo competitions, except where there is no competition for that dance in their age group. Dancers cannot compete in a younger age group. 28 Competitors may only dance each dance in one grade. 29 (Mean Ghrad) dancers, please see Preliminary/ Rule 37 30 Where there are five or less competitors in a competition, results will not affect their grading. 31 A solo competition cannot be held with only 1 competitor. 32 Novice (Bun Ghrad) is a dancer who has not gained a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place medals in Novice grade, or any medal in a higher grade for that particular dance. 33 Primary (Tus Ghrad) is a dancer who has not won a 1st or 2nd place for that particular dance in any age group. 34 (Mean Ghrad) is a dancer who has not won a 1st place in that particular age group or in a higher age group for that particular dance or won a Preliminary, or Premier Competition. 35 Ceili Dancing Rules as stated for Oireachtas Rince Na Cruinne apply. PREMIER, PRELIMINARY & CHAMPIONSHIP RULES 36 A panel of 3 adjudicators will judge all championships from Under 8 Upwards 37 All Premier, Preliminary & 1st place Cups are perpetual and must be returned in good condition and in adequate time for the following year. 38 Competitors can only dance in either Preliminary or Open, they may not compete in both. (Mean Ghrad) competitors can dance their grade dances and either the Preliminary or Open. 39 Under 5s,Under 6s & Under 7s Premier must dance & Light Jig. All grades are allowed to compete but must have performed these dances on the day of the feis. 40 Under 8s and Under 9s must dance and. A recall is at the discretion of the feis organisers. To be eligible to compete, dancers must perform 2 dances in the solo rounds on the day of the feis. 41 There must be a minimum of 3 boys to stage a boy s championship. If there are less than 3, the boys and girls s may be combined. 42 A dancer is only eligible to enter a preliminary championship if they have not been placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in an open championship from 1st January in the previous year or within the current year. If there were 5 or fewer dancers in the open championship result, the dancer will still be eligible to enter a preliminary championship. A dancer is not eligible to enter a preliminary championship if they are a current medal holder from Oireachtas Na Cruinne. If a dancer wins two preliminary championships within the current feis year, commencing 1st January of that year, they are no longer eligible to enter a preliminary championship in the rest of the current year and until December 31st of the following year. 43 If parents have any constructive comments to make about any aspect of Feisanna, these would be welcomed by the council, and should be put in writing. It should be noted that anonymous correspondence cannot be dealt with.

Take the first exit continue along this dual carriage way through 2 sets of traffic lights exit dual carriageway at Cowley you will see a big Tescos retail park at this roundabout take the 3rd exit follow this road straight over a mini roundabout and through first set of traffic lights, at the second set of traffic lights the Swan public house should be on your left, turn left. Follow road to mini roundabout again go straight over you will then see Templar Square shopping centre on your left, You will pass through one set of traffic lights(pedestrian crossing) the next set of traffic lights continue through and take the first road on the right. This road is Rymers Lane continue along this road and it becomes Cricket Road you will find the school on your left. FROM A34 Exit the A34 Following the signs for the Kassam stadium. At the Heyford Hill Roundabout take the 1st exit, you will see a big Sainsburys at this roundabout, Follow the dual carriageway to the Rosehill/Littlemore Roundabout again take the first exit. Follow this road passing shops on your left as you start to go down a hill take care as there is a 30mph speed camera on the hill. After the speed camera you will come to a set of traffic lights. Turn right on to Church Cowley Road then take the 2nd road on the left which is Rymers Lane continue along this road and it becomes Cricket Road you will find the school on your left.
