The Redhawks will play three of their final four regular season games away from home, and then they will head to Las Vegas for the WAC Basketball Tournament. LAST GAME: Seattle University was unable to sustain the momentum it had gained from its five-game winning streak as well as a comeback effort early in the second half, as Grand Canyon pulled out a 71-60 victory over the Redhawks last Friday night at KeyArena. Manroop Clair was able to keep Seattle U within striking distance in the first half as he hit four three-pointers before halftime on his way to a 20-point performance. Emmanuel Chibuogwu scored 12 points, and Aaron Menzies led the Redhawks with nine rebounds as Seattle U won the rebounding battle, 5-1. Grand Canyon jumped out to a 9-2 lead, but a four-point play from Clair and a jumper by Jadon Cohee allowed the Redhawks to tie the game at 9-9. After a basket by Jack Crook pulled the Redhawks to within one at 17-16, Ryan Majerle hit two three-pointers, followed by baskets by De Andre Davis and Grandy Glaze that extended the Antelope lead back to nine at 27-18. After DeWayne Russell hit a three-pointer with :10 remaining in the first half, Seattle U buckled down on both ends of the floor, as Clair scored five straight points while the Redhawks held the Antelopes scoreless to close the gap to four at 2-28 at halftime. The two teams exchanged points for the first six minutes of the second half, with Majerle hitting two free throws to give Grand Canyon a 40-5 advantage. Seattle U put together a 1-4 scoring run, punctuated by a tip-in by Menzies, to take a 48-44 lead with 8:48 remaining in the second half. The Antelopes responded with a 15-2 scoring run over the next five minutes, starting with a three-pointer by Majerle and featuring a long distance basket from Joshua Braun that gave Grand Canyon the lead for good.

SCOUTING UT RIO GRANDE VALLEY: The Vaqueros enter the week with a 6-19 overall record, including a 2-8 mark within the Western Athletic Conference after last Saturday s 75-58 loss at Missouri-Kansas City. UTRGV has lost six games in a row entering Thursday s contest. The Vaqueros are scoring 67.4 points per game and allowing 78.6 points per contest. As a team, UTRGV is shooting 42.9 percent from the field, including.9 percent from behind the three-point line, and 67.9 percent from the free throw line. All five starters are still averaging in double figures, led by Shaquille Hines with 1.6 points per game along with 5.8 rebounds per game. Dan Kimasa leads the way in rebounding at 6.2 rebounds per game, and JJ Thompson is the team leader in assists with 5.0 assists per contest. The starters account for 8.% of UTRGV s scoring this season. SERIES HISTORY: Formerly known as Texas Pan American, UTRGV is facing Seattle U for the sixth time, with the Redhawks holding a 4-1 series edge. On Jan. 10, 201, New Mexico State pulled out an 8-82 victory over Seattle U in double overtime at KeyArena. In the rematch Feb. 9, 201, in Las Cruces, N.M., the Aggies held on for a 60-57 win over the Redhawks. New Mexico State won all three meetings during the 201-14 season (96-87 at NMSU Jan. 9, 92-77 at SU Feb. 8, 70-68 in Las Vegas March 1). Last year, Seattle U finally broke through, defeating the Aggies Jan. 17 at KeyArena, 58-52. On Feb. 12 in Las Cruces, New Mexico State defeated Seattle U, 7-47. The two teams met at the Orleans Arena March 14 in the finals of the WAC Tournament, with the Aggies winning, 80-61. Earlier this season, New Mexico State defeated Seattle U, 68-60, at KeyArena. WE RE GOING STREAKING!: From Jan. 2 through Feb. 6, Seattle University won five games in a row for the first time since putting together a five-game winning streak from Dec. 2 through Dec. 19, 201. In addition, Seattle U won five straight conference games for the first time since joining the Western Athletic Conference in 2012. The last time Seattle U won five straight conference games at any level was as a member of the Division II Great Northwest Athletic Conference from Feb. 7 through Feb. 21, 2008. It had been 42 years since Seattle U last won five straight league contests at the Division I level, putting together a five-game winning streak within the West Coast Athletic Conference from Jan. 11 through Feb. 1, 1974, with victories over Nevada, UNLV, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, and at Santa Clara. VETERAN LEADERSHIP: Senior center Jack Crook and junior forward William Powell have been the leaders for this season s Redhawk squad both on and off the court. Crook is third on the team in scoring (9.6 ppg) and second in rebounding (5.8 rpg). He has reached double figures in scoring 1 times, including a 22-point performance against Mississippi Valley State at KeyArena Dec. 6. Last season, Crook was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court as well as Academic All- WAC for his academic work as a strategic communications major. Powell is averaging 8.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He has scored 10 or more points 12 times so far this season, finishing with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals in front of friends and family at Alabama- Birmingham Dec. 1. He notched his first double-double of the season Feb. 6 with 17 points and 12 rebounds against Missouri-Kansas City. Powell was voted Preseason Second Team All-WAC by both the coaches and the media in October.

WAC PLAYER OF WEEK: Brendan Westendorf, a junior college transfer from Auburn, Washington, has shown the ability to contribute to the Redhawks in different ways, averaging 11.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. He is second for Seattle U with 40 made threepointers so far this season and is shooting 74.2 percent (46-of-62) from the free throw line. He was named WAC Player of the Week by both the conference office and College Sports Madness on Feb. 1 after averaging 17.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and.0 steals per game as Seattle U defeated Utah Valley and Grand Canyon on the road. On Feb. 4, he hit the game-tying three-pointer and then banked in the game-winning shot from 40 feet away to help the Redhawks defeat Chicago State. Westendorf notched a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds against Sacramento State Nov. 15, followed by a 20-point performance at Eastern Washington Nov. 18. He was a major reason Seattle U came from behind to defeat UC Davis Dec. 28, finishing with 14 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, and three steals. FROM WAY DOWNTOWN: Redshirt junior Manroop Clair has been a key player off the bench for the Redhawks, especially in establishing the three-point shot. Over the span of 10 games he appeared in from Dec. 1 through Jan. 9, he made at least three three-pointers in each game, shooting 42-for-92 (.457) from behind the three-point arc over that span. He scored at least nine points in all 10 games of the streak, featuring a career-high 22 points against Mississippi Valley State Dec. 6. He has more than doubled his scoring average from 4.6 points per game on Nov. 25 to 10.1 points per game currently. A WIDE MARGIN: The 62-point victory over Northwest Indian College Dec. 17 is the widest margin of victory for the Redhawks during the Cameron Dollar coaching era, surpassing the 51-point win at Oregon State on Jan. 6, 2010. It is the largest margin of victory since Seattle U defeated Northwest University (then known as Northwest College), 122-51, during the 1988-89 season. It is also the biggest margin of victory for Seattle U as a Division I program, breaking the previous record of 52 points in a 107-55 win at Saint Martin s during the 1952-5 campaign. EXTRA TIME: The overtime game against UC Davis on Dec. 28 was the first for Seattle U this season. The Redhawks last went to overtime Jan. 1, 2015, a 71-61 loss at CSU Bakersfield. Seattle U last needed extra time at home on Feb. 27, 2014, an 84-77 triple overtime loss to Chicago State. Before the victory over the Aggies, Seattle U had lost four straight overtime games, last winning an overtime game Feb. 11, 2012, at Longwood, 100-99. PROTECTING THE BALL: Seattle University committed just five turnovers on Saturday, Jan. 2, against UT Rio Grande Valley. It is the fewest turnovers in a single game for the Redhawks in Cameron Dollar s seven seasons as head coach, with the previous low being eight turnovers on five different occasions, the last two in back-to-back games against UT Pan American Jan. 15, 2015, and New Mexico State Jan. 17, 2015. Seattle U committed just four turnovers in consecutive contests at North Dakota Feb. 27, 2009, and at South Dakota Feb. 28, 2009. COACH S SHOW RETURNS: The Seattle U Coach s Show with Dave Grosby, Gary Hill Jr., and Cameron Dollar (or a member of his coaching staff) is back at 1 Coins in Seattle every Monday, taping from 7-8 p.m. to air on 770 AM KTTH from 9-10 p.m. ROAD WARRIORS: For the first time since joining the Western Athletic Conference in 2012-1, Seattle University swept a road weekend with its victories at Utah Valley (7-62) Jan. 28 and at Grand Canyon (59-57) Jan. 0. Including the Jan. 9 victory at Chicago State, the Redhawks have won three straight road games for the first time since a five-game road winning streak that spanned from Jan. 17 through Feb. 24, 2009. Seattle U last swept a conference road weekend Feb. 7-9, 2008, when the Redhawks defeated Northwest Nazarene (8-72) and Seattle Pacific (66-59) as part of the Division II GNAC. The last time Seattle U swept a road weekend within a Division I conference was in 1978 with wins at Nevada (71-65) and at Saint Mary s (79-76) in the West Coast Athletic Conference (WCAC). ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME: Seattle University Athletics welcomed five individuals and one team into the SU Athletics Hall of Fame during Homecoming Weekend, with the induction luncheon taking place Feb. 6, at the Campion Tower Ballroom on campus. HEAD COACH CAMERON DOLLAR (UCLA 97) SEVENTH SEASON AT SEATTLE U/EIGHTH SEASON OVERALL 91-116 (.440) AT SEATTLE U/102-18 (.425) OVERALL Cameron Dollar is in his seventh season as head coach at Seattle University. Dollar led Seattle University to its first national Division I postseason tournament since the 1968-69 season when the Redhawks accepted an invitation to play in the College Basketball Invitational. Seattle U reached the semifinals of the CBI with home victories over Pepperdine and Colorado, the program s first victories in a national Division I postseason tournament since 1964. The team finished with an 18-16 overall record and advanced to the championship game of the WAC Tournament. Isiah Umipig and Jarell Flora received All-WAC honors. In 201-14, Dollar s Redhawks posted a five-game improvement from the previous season and contended with eventual WAC Tournament champion New Mexico State right down to the final buzzer in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament. Thanks to a season sweep over Cal State Fullerton as well as victories over UC Davis, Cal State Northridge, and Norfolk State, Seattle U jumped out to an 8- record, led by Second Team All-WAC performer Isiah Umipig. Though Dollar led the team through a tough first season in the WAC during the 2012-201 season, several key returning players showed improvement under his coaching. Dollar took a squad of several newcomers through the 2011-12 season, competing with powerhouse programs such as Virginia and Washington. The team got rolling midway through the season, winning nine of its last 12 contests, including eight in a row at KeyArena. Thanks in part to Dollar s coaching, Aaron Broussard established himself as one of the best players in program history, finishing his career 1th on the school s all-time scoring list. Seattle U picked up 11 victories during the 2010-11 season, including the team s second straight victory over Oregon State and a road victory at ACC school Virginia. The Redhawks also played a tight game at Pac-10 school Stanford and put up its best performance against Washington since starting the reclassification process in front of over 11,000 fans at KeyArena. Using an up-tempo style with aggressive defense, Dollar led Seattle U to a 17-14 record in 2009-10, making the Redhawks the first team to post a winning record playing a full Division I schedule in its first year as a Division I counter. The team started to gain national recognition after a 77-74 victory at Utah, and then made history later in the year with a 99-48 win at Oregon State, the worst home loss ever for the Beavers. Dollar and his squad also defended Elgin Baylor Court at KeyArena during its first year of existance, finishing with a 10- record at home, including exciting victories over Fresno State, Weber State, and UC Irvine. He served seven years as an asssistant coach at the University of Washington before coming to Seattle U. As the top assistant for Lorenzo Romar at Washington, he helped the Huskies win their first Pac-10 outright regular season championship since 195 in the 2008-09 season. Washington advanced to the semifinals of the Pac-10 Tournament and to the second round of the 2009 NCAA Tournament. In 2006, Dollar helped guide Washington to a 26-7 record. The Huskies made back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances for the first time ever. He was pivotal in the Huskies run to their first Pac-10 Tournament championship in 2005 and first ever No. 1 seed into the NCAA Tournament. UW finished with a 29-6 record, tying the school record for wins in a season. In 2004, the Huskies advanced to the championship game of the Pac-10 Tournament and competed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1999. Prior to his arrival at UW, Dollar served three years as an assistant coach on Romar s Saint Louis University staff. He helped the Billikens to a three-year record of 51-44 (.57), including a 2000 Conference USA Tournament championship that secured the league s automatic NCAA berth. Dollar began his coaching career as an assistant on the staff of head coach Pat Douglass at UC Irvine in 1997. He became the nation s youngest head coach in 1998 when, at age 22, he took the reins of the Southern California College program in Costa Mesa, Calif. The Vanguards, who returned just six players from the previous season, posted an 11-22 record in Dollar s only season, but recorded wins over NAIA Top 25 teams Westmont and Azusa Pacific. After a three-month stay as a part-time assistant at the University of Georgia in 1999, Dollar left to join the Saint Louis coaching staff on a full-time basis. As a player, Dollar lettered four seasons at UCLA before graduating in 1997. He has chosen to remain in Seattle, the site of the Bruins 1995 NCAA Championship victory. UCLA defeated Arkansas 89-78 at the Kingdome. A four-year letterman at UCLA from 1994-97, Dollar achieved national recognition in 1995 as a pivotal player in UCLA s NCAA championship season when he took over for injured starter Tyus Edney in the title game. In Dollar s final three collegiate seasons, the Bruins won the NCAA title and reached the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Dollar averaged 5.0 points and.7 assists per game during his four-year career. Cameron and his wife, Maureen, live in Seattle. They have three children: Jalen (born April 26, 2005), Giselle (born Feb. 12, 2007), and Jason (born Dec. 2, 2008).
