For the last 15 years, throughout December, our Christmas Lights campaign has been fundraising for kids at Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH). In preparation for the opening of our new kids hospital, PMH Foundation has become Perth Children s Hospital Foundation. We hope you will join us in shining bright again this year. new hospital, new look, same purpose Our Christmas Lights ambassadors Ruby and Nick are our ambassadors for the 2017 campaign. You can read their amazing stories on our website. When Perth Children s Hospital opens it will replace Princess Margaret Hospital as Western Australia s only dedicated children s hospital. This year will be the first Christmas Lights campaign to collect donations for Perth Children s Hospital. As always, the Foundation remains committed to providing much needed funds to enable the hospital to care for children from throughout Western Australia. Whilst the State Government is funding the build and initial fit-out of the hospital, the Foundation will continue to be called upon to fund initiatives outside of its day to day running, including: w providing specialised equipment such as the NETS WA Ambulance w supporting Professorial Chairs of Expertise, Fellowships and training opportunities for staff w supporting research into new and improved ways of preventing and treating disease and injury For more information please go to pchf.org.au or call the events team on (08) 9489 1100 1
Christmas Lights campaign pack As a participant, you will receive support throughout the campaign to help you maximise your fundraising. Please read through the information in this pack before completing the attached registration form. We understand the festive season is a very busy time, so as a participant you are not obligated to collect donations every night throughout December. We only ask that you collect donations on as many nights as you and your family are comfortable with and can manage. Once we have received your registration form, you will become an Authorised Christmas Lights Merchandise packs Fundraiser. You will receive an official Perth s Children s Hospital Foundation Christmas Lights campaign pack that includes: w promotional posters and signage for the front of your home w two volunteer vests w collection tins w an Authority to Fundraise letter, which is your legal authority to undertake a fundraising activity on behalf of Perth Children s Hospital Foundation You will receive your campaign pack no later than Friday 24 November. Merchandise packs are available for participants who wish to sell merchandise as part of their fundraising activities. The merchandise pack will include a selection of branded Christmas merchandise priced at $5 and $10 each. The total pack is valued at $120. The pack will be provided on consignment, so you simply return any unsold merchandise at the end of the campaign. The sold merchandise will count towards your fundraising total. Stitches and character visits If you are hosting a fundraising event at your Christmas Lights display, our loveable mascot Stitches the Bear is keen to join the fun! This year, you will be required to provide your own volunteer to jump into the Stitches suit for the night. Stitches suit schedule will be determined on a first come, first served basis so please get your requests in early! Our generous friends at Parties Kids Remember and Glass Slipper Entertainment also want to help you make the most of your big fundraising night by bringing additional characters to your home for FREE! To secure a character, please email events@pchf.org.au with your preferred date and we will send a list of available characters for you to choose from. Please note male characters are limited and it is much easier to fulfil female character requests. Once we have secured your volunteers, your request will be confirmed by email. Please do not advertise your requested character until you have received a confirmation email from us. Please note that we do our best to visit as many houses and meet as many first preferences as possible. All Stitches and character visits are subject to availability. Visits are to support fundraising activities at your display and are not to be used for private functions at your home. Online resources As a Christmas Lights participant you will have access to a private webpage with a range of resources to assist you with your fundraising. These include: w fundraising ideas and tips w information about Perth Children s Hospital Foundation w How to guides to make the most of your Christmas Lights display w images for social media and online use We will also be sending weekly communications via email throughout the campaign to keep in touch and provide support. Promotional support If you are happy to have your display included in our online media campaign throughout December, please indicate this on the registration form and email a photo of your completed display to events@pchf.org.au Your photo and address will be promoted on the Perth Children s Hospital Foundation website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, as well as other online portals such as buggybuddys.com.au Promoting your home will ensure our supporters know where you are so they can visit your display and make a donation. Media From time to time we are contacted by media for stories on our Christmas Lights campaign. Spread the Christmas cheer We encourage you to get your neighbours and friends on board! If you know anyone who would like to join the Christmas Lights campaign, please share the attached flyer with them. You can print it and do a mail drop in your street, share it on social media or simply email it to people who you know would like to be involved. As a Christmas Lights participant you will have access to a private webpage with various resources to assist you with your fundraising. If you have a story and are happy for us to share it with the media, briefly provide us with some details on your registration form. We also encourage you to seek your own media for your display and will provide you with a How to guide once you register. The serious stuff Please ensure you understand the following before you register your display. w Fundraising activities in public places (i.e. if you close off your street) may require a permit from your local council. w You are responsible for ensuring the safety of your event, including organising public liability insurance and first aid if required. w Food hygiene laws will apply if you intend to sell food in a public place. w Certain fundraising activities such as raffles may require a Standard Lottery Permit. You can apply for a permit online www.rgl.wa.gov.au/ gaming/applications/forms-andapps. w Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult when collecting money or donations. w As an Authorised Fundraiser, you are liable for any costs that may arise due to damage, loss or injury caused by a breach of your responsibilities or your negligence. w In-kind donations for goods (not services) are eligible for a goodsin-kind tax receipt. w Cash donations over $2 are tax deductible. You will be provided with a receipt book to issue tax receipts if requested. w Collection tins are not to be left outside unattended at any time during the campaign. w You will be provided with two official volunteer vests to wear when you are collecting donations. Please return the vests at the end of the campaign. w In order to ensure the Foundation complies with the Charitable Collection Act and our auditing requirements, please do not open your donation tins at the end of the campaign. We kindly ask that you return your tins unopened when our office reopens in January. Further details will be communicated in December. Prizes The campaign will officially close on 31 December, 2017. Prizes will be awarded in two categories: w Highest Individual Fundraiser $1,500 EFTPOS voucher thanks to Galleria Shopping Centre and w Highest Street Fundraiser $2,500 EFTPOS voucher thanks to Galleria Shopping Centre Winners will be determined by Perth Children s Hospital Foundation once all money is counted.
