Quick Start Guide This Quick Start Guide describes the hardware and software installation process and the Measurement feature in a simple way. Please follow the sequence of the steps to avoid problems during installation. Installation steps: A. Hardware installation B. Software installation C. Start the software for the first time D. Do your first measurement Please read the complete operating manual on the CD for further details on measurement, training, reports and data management.

2 Hardware Installation A. Hardware Installation Needed parts: BasicUnit FlexTriplet with FlexClip Tripod Triplet Calibration Sheet Battery Step 1 Open the battery case on the back of the FlexTriplet and insert the battery into the inset. Then close the battery case. Step 2 The FlexTriplet has to be positioned at a distance of 25 cm (10 inches) from the lower edge of the putter head. The Triplet Calibration Sheet helps you to measure the correct distance. Step 3 The FlexTriplet can be mounted to putters with different shaft diameters by adjusting the two nuts of the FlexClip. To attach the FlexTriplet with the FlexClip to a golf club, please release both nuts first.

Hardware Installation 3 Step 4 Place FlexTriplet on the shaft of the golf club. Then flap the red fastener around the shaft and flap the second screw into the fasteners notch (blue arrow). Step 5 Now fasten both FlexClip screws evenly until the FlexTriplet is fixed lightly on the shaft. Try to fasten the FlexClip as displayed in the left picture. Step 6 The FlexTriplet has to be mounted to the putter head with an angle of 90. The Triplet Calibration Sheet will help with this step. Place the putter head on the Triplet Calibration Sheet. Adjust the angle between putter head and FlexTriplet (exactly to 90 degrees) using the line on the sheet. Finally fasten the FlexClip screws. NOTE: You can find a copy of the Triplet Calibration Sheet on the installation CD. Step 7 Unscrew the tripod. Then expand the tripod to a total height of 30cm (12 inch) and tighten the tripod nut again.

4 Hardware Installation Step 8 Mount the BasicUnit tightly onto the head of the universal joint. Step 9 Place the BasicUnit with the tripod on a flat and stable ground. Check if the angle of the BasicUnit is perpendicular to the ground. Step 10 Arrange the components as shown. The distance between your putter with the mounted FlexTriplet and the BasicUnit should be approximately 0.5m (20inches). Set up your PC or notebook close to the position from where you are going to putt. Step 11 Check the horizontal alignment with the spirit level on the back of the BasicUnit. If necessary, adjust the position with the universal joint of the tripod. Sequence A. Hardware installation completed.

Software Installation 5 B. Software Installation Needed parts: PuttLab 2008 CD BasicUnit USB cable Step 1 Insert the SAM PuttLab 2008 CD into the CDdrive of your pc or notebook. The installation procedure should start automatically. If auto start is disabled on your computer, please run SETUP.EXE manually from your CD drive. Step 2 On the first setup screen click the Next button to continue. Step 3 Accept the license agreement by checking the box below the agreement and click the Next button. Step 4 A destination folder will be shown. Click Install button or browse for a different destination.

Setup will analyze your operating system. Click OK to continue. Step 6 The Windows Device Driver Installation Wizard will appear. Click on the Next button. Depending on the operating system you are using, Windows may ask if you want to install the driver. Click on the button Install driver anyway and continue installation. Step 7 After the software installation is finished you will be prompted to connect the BasicUnit to your PC using the USB cable. Connect the BasicUnit now to your pc or notebook. Step 8 After you plug the BasicUnit into the USB port, your computer will notice a newly attached device. Depending on the operating system and security settings you are using, Windows alerts you with a pop up. IMPORTANT Allow the installation process to proceed when you see one of these alerts. Some commonly used terms to allow a process to proceed are: Unblock, Yes, Allow, and Permit. Step 9 After the USB driver has been successfully installed, click the Finish button and remove the SAM PuttLab 2008 CD from your CD drive. Sequence B. Software installation completed.

C. Start the software for the first time Start the software for the first time 7 Step 1 Start SAM PuttLab 2008 via the desktop icon which was created during the installation. You can also start the software through the Windows start menu under Programs > SAM PuttLab 2008. IMPORTANT Be sure to have the BasicUnit connected to a USB port on your computer before you start the software. Also check if the LED inside the lower grid of the BasicUnit is lit green. Otherwise the USB driver installation has failed. If so, repeat step B. Software Installation of this Quick Start Guide. Step 2 You will be prompted to enter the software key printed on the software key document. Type in the key and press the Ok button. The key which is provided to you is a unique key for your product. Keep it in a secure place. With the input of the software key the software checks if the correct BasicUnit is connected to your computer. The Start Measurement screen opens. Enter a description for the measurement (optional) and press the Start button. The measure screen will open. NOTE: Please continue on to next steps. Step 2 Mark the spot from where you will make all your putts (with chalk or sticky tape). Then place a golf ball exactly on the spot. Step 3 Move in front of the BasicUnit and quickly press the button on the FlexTriplet. (The LED on the FlexTriplet turns green.) If you are within the measuring range the No Data Signal text box will disappear and you can see the motion of your putter animated with graphs and corresponding numbers on the screen. Important information before executing the next step In step 4 the system will be calibrated to your putt position and direction. The calibration will be executed in the 'Countdown Calibration' mode. This means that during a countdown time (default: 15 seconds) you should find your address position and finally hold the club stable in this position towards the end of the countdown.

Step 5 Step 4 Now execute the calibration. 1. Presss [C] on your keyboard to start the countdown. 2. Move to your putt position. 3. Set the putter on the ground like shown in the picture on the left (ball in sweet spot of the putter head). 4. During the prepare position phase of the countdown align the putter head exactly to the target. 5. During the hold position phase hold your putter stable in the address position. 6. After the countdown has finished withoutt an error messagee the system is calibrated and ready to record your putts. Make you first putt. Hold the putter head still for 2 seconds beforee executing a stroke until the Ready signal on the top of the screen turns green. Then putt. Step 6 Do your first Measurement 9 After you have made your stroke you can verify by checking the checked off putts on the screen if the stroke was successfully recorded. Step 7 Repeat step 5 and 6 until all strokes are recorded. The measuree screen disappears and the Basic Print Report is displayed. Read the report manual for interpretation of the reports. Congratulations! You ve done your first measurements. REMEMBER to read the operating manual (press F1 in the main screen of the SAM PuttLab software) for furtherr details on using SAM PuttLab!

10 Important Information Important Information LED Status of the FlexTriplet green constant green flashing red flashing The FlexTriplet is activated and sending signals from the sensors (you can hear a gentle buzzing noise). Strokes can be made in front of the BasicUnit. The FlexTriplet is in standby mode. As soon as you move in front of the BasicUnit the FlexTriplet activates itself for measurements. Standby mode lasts for 30 seconds. Then the FlexTriplet automatically turns off. The battery is empty. Replace battery with a new one. Batteries To operate the FlexTriplet you need a Lithium battery of type CR2 (photo battery). Battery life will be about 20 hours (constant usage) for normal daily usage of 2 hours pure measurement time this would mean you need a new battery every 10 days. These types of batteries are often quite expensive when you try to buy in your local store this is the reason why Science&Motion Sports will sell the batteries in its online shop for a very low price. We also offer a package for 2 rechargeable batteries and a charger. Please visit our website www.scienceandmotion.com and then browse to the webshop to see our other Science&Motion accessories. LED Status of the BasicUnit After you have finished the software and driver installation of the SAM PuttLab, you will connect the BasicUnit for the first time. The windows operating system will recognize a newly attached device. When the driver installation is working correctly, the LED in the BasicUnit is green. If the LED is not green after the BasicUnit is connected, re install the SAM PuttLab software and be sure that the driver installation during the setup is executed (see chapter B Software Installation).

Important Information 11 Why is calibration so important? The calibration of the system must be done after every software startup, every change of ball position or the target position, change of the putter and repositioning of the FlexTriplet on the golf club. All the data will correspond to the ball position and the target direction from the calibration point. Without proper calibration the result data may be inconsistent and the reports differ from your real strokes. So, try to be very accurate while executing calibration to ensure best data reliability. Be sure to maintain the following conditions during calibration: Set the putter on the ground Align the putter head exactly to the target (i.e. using the Laser Putting Alignment System ) Set up putter head behind the ball (on Sweet Spot) Correct calibration position a) Top view calibration position Be sure to have your club head close to the ball and in horizontal sweet spot position when you calibrate. b) Side view calibration position Be sure to have your club head set on the ground in proper lie angle (club head bottom flat to the ground) when you calibrate. Calibration methods There are three ways to calibrate the SAM PuttLab system (choose method in the program settings ): 1. direct calibration The SAM PuttLab will be directly calibrated when you press the C key on the keyboard. This is the best and easiest way to calibrate when you are more than one person working on the system. 2. calibration via automatic countdown This means that during a countdown time (default: 15 seconds) you should find your address position and finally hold the club stable in this position at the end of the countdown. 3. calibration by lifting club Take you putting stance position. Set putter head behind ball aiming at target, lift putter head directly up approximately 4 inches (10cm)
