Winnipeg Jets Prospects Stat Report January 26 February 1, 2015
Winnipeg Jets prospect highlights (Jan. 26 Feb. 1) Jamie Phillips, G Michigan Tech (WCHA) Jamie Phillips has helped his team to several series sweeps this college season. But few of those sweeps were as convincing as last weekend against Alabama Huntsville. Phillips and the Huskies shut out Alabama Huntsville by a 5 0 score on Jan. 30. Then the following game, won 11 1. In total, Phillips turned aside 30 of 31 shots over the weekend series and improved his season totals to 19 6 1 with a.928 save percentage, 1.92 goals against average, and three shutouts. Connor Hellebuyck, G St. John s (AHL) Rookie pro Connor Hellebuyck represented the St. John s IceCaps at the 2015 AHL All Star Classic in Utica, NY early last week, and even earned the start for the Eastern Conference. After returning to the IceCaps crease for two road games in Albany, Hellebuyck posted two solid starts only allowing two regulation goals over a win and shootout loss. He stopped 46 of 48 shots over the two games. Chase De Leo, F Portland (WHL) Chase De Leo is one of the hottest forwards in the Western Hockey League these days, riding a threegame goal streak and sitting on nine goals over the last eight games. Not coincidentally, his team has won all eight of those games riding the longest win streak in the WHL. John Albert, F St. John s (AHL) John Albert proved to be one of the most dangerous penalty killers in the AHL last season, scoring five shorthanded goals in an eight game span during February of 2014. He was back to his old tricks scoring on the PK on Jan. 30 which helped the IceCaps to a 4 1 win in Albany. He also registered another goal and an assist over the two game set with Albany, adding to his team leading point totals which now sit at 31 (12G, 19A) on the season. Will O Neill, D St. John s (AHL) The longest active point streak on the St. John s IceCaps belongs to defenceman Will O Neill. The 26 year old has collected eight points (2G, 6A) over the last four games and is quickly gaining ground on John Albert in the team s scoring race. O Neill has compiled 28 points (8G, 20A) through 43 games played this season. His AHL career high is 35 points which he earned last season with the IceCaps.
