Crow Foot surrendered his father's gun to Major Brotherton at Fort Buford in 1881. Sitting Bull maintained that he himself never surrendered. 1885 D.F. 1905 Barry (?) Standing Holy a.k.a Mary Sitting Bull The Sitting Bull family is uncertain whether this is actually Standing Holy 1880ies D.F. Barry (?) Louis or John Sitting Bull as a teenager Louis was Sitting Bull s deaf-mute stepson of Seen By Her Nation s first marriage. He is also known as Refuses Them. When he entered the dominant culture he first became known as Louis Sitting Bull. Maybe to honor Louis Legaré? Later he took the name John Sitting Bull.

1926 D.F. Barry Louis or John Sitting Bull with Barry Louis / John was Sitting Bull s deaf-mute stepson of Seen By Her Nation s first marriage. 1926 D.F. Barry Louis or John Sitting Bull Louis was Sitting Bull s deaf-mute stepson.

1903 D.S. Coles, William Sitting Bull Hot Springs, S.D William Sitting Bull, second from left. Caption recto: D.S. Coles, Hot Springs, S.D., The young man seated at far left is William Sitting Bull, adopted son of the famous Hunkpapa chief and natural son of Sitting Bull's wife, Seen by the Nation In 1908 this William Sitting Bull requested the transfer to Standing Rock Agency with his mother Four Robes, which was denied. William Sitting Bull died one year later, on December 8 1909. See: http://www.primeau.org/sittingbull/wmsittingbull.html The man on this picture seems to be between 25 and 30 years old. He could be one of a pair of twins, e.g. the pair known as Abandoned-One and Fled With. E. H. Allison wrote on 3/7/1906 to Eli S. Ricker, that one [twin], Fled With, is still living (Allison Correspondence, Ricker Collection, Nebraska State Historical Society). In the Walter Camp Manuscripts, Indiana University Library, p. 346 he is also mentioned: his twin brother, Fled With, later received the reservation name of William Sitting Bull. He passed away near Pass Creek, Pine Ridge Agency. We find this person on several census accounts with changing names. The Pine Ridge Census of 1898 lists a William Sitting Bull, male, age 23, who therefore must have been born around 1875/76 Around 1890 he seems to have taken the name Theodore an allusion to the warrior Theodore Roosevelt?? and later the name William. William could be an homage to William Buffalo Bill Cody, whom he joined to Europe in 1903/04. William, who was married to Scout Woman, had a daughter called Nancy Sitting Bull, later married to George Stewart (?). I strongly believe that William was one of a pair of twins and Sitting Bulls last surviving son.

1910? unknown Joseph Fly Sitting Bull s grandson of Many Horses? See: Ia_SB the celebrity, No. 04a & b The caption says: Leo Archambault & Joe Fly (on the right) The Date is uncertain, but if this is Sitting Bull s grandson, it is taken before Sept. 1912. If the age is halfway correct, then he was a baby around 1884. Due to his look I tend to believe, that he is a member of the Sitting Bull family.
