Introduction We are glad that you are here to see our aquarium show. We went to Jenkinson s Aquarium on February 2. We saw lots of sea animals and rainforest animals. We hope that you enjoy the show!

Harbor Seals By Saniya and Olivia What They Look Like and How They Live Lucy the harbor seal is blind. Lucy has a red eye. The other eye is gray. Lucy has black spots. Lucy is a mammal and breathes air like people do. She swims to the top of the water to take a breath. She can stay underwater for 30 minutes. Where they Live Lucy lives at Jenkinson s aquarium. She was found injured in the Atlantic Ocean. Harbor seals live in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.

Harbor Seals By Saniya and Olivia What Harbor Seals Eat Harbor seals eat different kinds of fish. They catch the fish with their mouth. What do Harbor Seals Do? Harbor seals like to play. They play with balls and hoops. They sleep. They stay away from sharks. Lucy is afraid of boats. This is a baby and mom.

Penguins By Saanvi and Hamsha What Do Penguins Look Like? Penguins have feathers that are white and black. They can be different colors and some have beads on their flippers. Penguins are different sizes. The Emperor is the biggest kind about 4 feet tall. What Do Penguins Eat? Penguins eat fish. The Mom chews the fish and spits it into the baby s mouth. The baby swallows it without chewing. The Mom catches fish from the ocean and brings it to her baby. Penguins eat fish. The baby penguin has gray feathers.

Penguins By Saanvi and Hamsha How Penguins Take Care Of Their Babies Female penguins lay eggs. They keep the egg warm in their pouch. The Dad penguin takes care of the egg when the Mom goes to the ocean to get food. When the egg hatches, the baby slowly comes out. When the babies are young their feathers are not waterproof. As they grow they lose their baby feathers and new ones grow. The new white and black feathers are waterproof. Where Do Penguins Live? Different kinds of penguins live in Antarctica or somewhere warm like Africa. Some penguins live in aquariums like Jenkinson s. The penguin dad carries the egg on his feet.

Pythons By Ishaan What do Pythons Eat? Pythons eat salamanders, monkeys, birds and mice. They crush their food and swallow it whole. Where Do Pythons Live? Pythons live in the rainforest in Africa. They like wet places. They live in holes in the sand. Pythons have family groups called nests. How Big Are Pythons? Pythons are 6 inches wide and can be 30 feet long. What do Pythons Do? Pythons sleep a lot. They hibernate. They save their energy for hunting for food. How Do Pythons Attack? They circle around their enemies and squeeze them until there is no life. Then they eat them. This is a diamond python.

Fish By Sahitya and Chloe Pufferfish have spines. Clown fish have colors. Where Do Fish Live? Fish live in the ocean. They live in the coral reef. What Do Fish Look Like? Pufferfish look like an oval with fins. When pufferfish blow up they are fat. Other fish can be colorful like clown fish that are orange, white and black. What Do Fish Eat? Fish eat sea food. They feed themselves from turtle shells. They eat plants. How Do Fish Protect Themselves? Pufferfish blow up to scare away predators. Their spines are harmful to other fish. Clownfish protect themselves by hiding in coral and behind plants. They swim really fast to get away from predators.

Sea Urchins By Karim and Rishabh Where They Live Red urchins live near coral reefs. They live next to rocks. Even flower urchins live near rocks. Sea urchins live in coral reefs. Prey Sea otters eat sea urchins but sea otters can crush sea urchins. Anemone sting sea urchins. What do Sea Urchins Look Like? They look like a growing ball. They have spikes. They can be different colors. This sea urchin is blue. This red sea urchin has long spines.

Eels By Kayla What Eels Look Like Eels look like a snake. They can be black, yellow, spots or plain. Their teeth stick out when they open their mouth and are very sharp. Eels look like a snake. Eels are good swimmers. What Eels Eat Eels eat dead fish, live fish and sick fish. Eels eat puffer fish, worms. They do not eat sharks. Where Do Eels Live? Eels live in eel pits. An eel pit is like a cave. They come out at night. Their home protects them. Family and Baby Eels Eels live in families. Some are small and some are big. Eels take care of their babies. Baby eels look cute. They make friends with other eels. Different Kinds of Eels There are big and small eels. Some sting and some do not. Some are fat and some are skinny. This is the inside of a moray eels.

Stingrays By Nana and Chase Stingrays move by flapping their sides like wings. What Stingrays Look Like and What They Eat Stingrays have flat shaped bodies. Their eyes are on the top of their body and their mouth is on the bottom. When they smell food, they can t see it to eat it. They use their smell to find it. They eat worms, squid, small fish, shrimp, clams and snails. How Stingrays Move Stingrays live in the water so they are good swimmers. They swim in shallow water. They can dodge around other sea animals. They flap their sides like wings to push themselves through the water. They hide themselves by digging into the sand.

Horseshoe Crabs By Wesley and Aaban What Does A Horseshoe Crab Look Like? A horseshoe crab looks like a horseshoe shape. It has a long tail to help it turn over. It has ten legs that do not pinch. It has lots of eyes. It has a round body. They run fast on land. It has a hard shell that helps it hide. It grows to about 15 inches. The girls are bigger than These are all of the parts of a horseshoe crab. the boys. Where Do Horseshoe Crabs Live? They live on the surface of the ocean. They slide to the top of the sea. They swim far. They are hard to see so other animals have to be careful.

Horseshoe Crabs By Wesley and Aaban This is a horseshoe crab on the beach. What Do Horseshoe Crabs Eat? Horseshoe crabs eat little creatures like snails, bugs, worms and dead ticks. They mush it up with their legs and then they swallow it. They do not have teeth. How Old Are Horseshoe Crabs? Horseshoe crabs began on Earth 300 million years ago! They are very old. They lived here before the dinosaurs.

Sharks By Isac and Swarit This Great White Shark is very strong. These are leopard sharks. Kinds of Sharks There are different kinds of sharks. Tiger sharks, Nurse sharks, Great White sharks and Leopard sharks. Megalodon sharks lived in the dinosaur times. What Do Sharks Look Like? Sharks have two fins and they are gray. They have sharp teeth. They can be bigger than a human. They are long. How Do Sharks Move? Sharks swim fast. They swim with their fins and tail. Sharks cannot swim backwards. They go around other creatures because they cannot stop. Where Do Sharks Live? Some sharks live in the shallow water. Most sharks live in the deep ocean water. Some sharks live in Jenkinson s Aquarium like the leopard shark and nurse shark.

Parrots By Bhavyaka and Farida What Do Parrots Look Like? Colorful baby parrots. Parrots can have striped eyes. Parrots are tropical birds. Parrots have beautiful feathers of many different colors. They can be different sizes. Where Do Parrots Live? Parrots live in the rain forest. They get wet when it rains. They live in trees and sit on the branches. Some parrots live in aquariums or in homes as pets. What Do Parrots Eat? Parrots eat seeds. They like sunflower seeds. They also like fruit, Parrots can have colorful faces and different colored beaks. nuts and insects. How Parrots Take Care of Their Babies Parrots build a nest for their families. They find food for the babies. They teach the babies how to fly.
