The FieldMate case is designed so that you can use your system either in notebook configuration or in tablet configuration. Figure 1. FieldMate Case

Notebook Configuration To use your system in notebook configuration: 1. Open your tablet PC so that the display is in notebook configuration (perpendicular to the keyboard). 2. Slide the keyboard under the rear strap, if desired (use of this strap is optional).(figure 3) 3. Pull the keyboard to the front edge of the case and tuck the corners under the elastic corner straps. 4. Tuck the top corners of the display under the top straps. 5. To access the ports and jacks on the rear of the system, undo the Velcro covers over the ports.

Notebook Configuration When the system is secured in the case in notebook configuration with the straps attached, use of the VGA and USB ports is not recommended. Tablet Configuration To use your tablet PC in tablet configuration: 1. Open your tablet PC so that the display is in notebook configuration (perpendicular to the keyboard). 2. Slide the keyboard under the rear strap, if desired (use of this strap is optional).(figure 3) 3. Pull the keyboard to the edge of the case and tuck the corners under the front straps. 3
4. Hold the top of the case down so the display can rotate without interference. Rotate the screen and put the system into tablet configuration. (Figures 4a-4c) 5. Close the case cover and zip up the wraparound zipper. 6. Undo the Velcro strip securing the protective LCD cover and flip it over the back of the case (Figure 5). 7. Store the protective cover under the handstraps on the back of the case (Figure 6). To use a PC Card in the system, detach the front left elastic corner strap and leave the wraparound zipper open. Converting from Notebook to Tablet Configuration If your system is installed in the case in notebook mode and you want to convert to tablet mode: 1. Unattach the top straps. 2. Open the case fully and hold the top of the case down so the display can rotate without interference. Rotate the screen and put the system into tablet configuration (Figures 4a-4c). 3. Close the case cover and zip up the wraparound zipper. 4. Undo the Velcro strip securing the protective LCD cover and flip it over the back of the case (Figure 5). 5. Store the protective cover under the handstraps on the back of the case (Figure 6) 4

Shoulder Strap There are D-rings on the four corners of the case. Two of the D-rings have elastic strap covers under which the D-rings can be secured. To attach the shoulder strap, open the spring-loaded clips on the end of the strap, and attach them to two of the D-rings. (Figure 2 shows the location of the covered D-rings; Figure 6 shows the location of the other two D-rings.) Caring for the Case The FieldMate is made of rugged materials, and is designed to withstand daily use. Treat the case as you would a quality briefcase or purse. Occasionally, the case may become soiled. To clean it, brush it with a short-bristled brush. If necessary, use a clean cloth and warm soapy water to wash the soiled area. Do not submerge the case in water, as it may become warped. 7
