HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION Emergency Overview No hazards resulting from the material as supplied. The hazards of this product are associated mainly with its processing. Processing para-aramid products can release respirable dust and respirable fibre particulate. Prolonged inhalation of respirable dust and respirable fibre particulate at high concentrations can cause lung damage. High concentrations of dust can irritate eyes, nose and respiratory system and cause coughing and sneezing. Continual rubbing of fibre particulates and dust on the skin can cause a transitory, mild irritation with redness or itching. Vapour during processing may be irritating to the respiratory tract and to the eyes. Natural rubber: Repeated or prolonged skin contact may cause allergic reactions with susceptible persons. Potential Health Effects Carcinogenicity None of the components present in this material at concentrations equal to or greater than 0.1% are listed by IARC, NTP, or OSHA, as a carcinogen. SECTION 3. COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS Component CAS-No. Concentration 26125-61-1 23-62 % Elastomer Matrix 38-77 % SECTION 4. FIRST AID MEASURES 1 / 5

Skin contact Eye contact Inhalation : Wash off with soap and water. Cool skin rapidly with cold water after contact with molten material. Do not attempt to remove material from the skin. Call a physician immediately. : Rinse with plenty of water. If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist. : Move to fresh air. Oxygen or artificial respiration if needed. Call a physician immediately. SECTION 5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES Flammable Properties Thermal decomposition Fire and Explosion Hazard : 177-200 C (351-392 F) : Carbon monoxide Carbon dioxide (CO2) Hydrogen cyanide (hydrocyanic acid) nitrogen oxides (NOx) Hydrocarbons Hydrogen chloride gas Sulphur oxides Extinguishing Media Firefighting Instructions : Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide. : Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit. The solid polymer can only be burned with difficulty. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. SECTION 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES NOTE: Review FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES and HANDLING (PERSONNEL) sections before proceeding with clean-up. Use appropriate PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT during clean-up. Safeguards (Personnel) : Wear personal protective equipment. Spill Cleanup : Sweep up to prevent slipping hazard. SECTION 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE Handling (Personnel) : Provide adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not breathe vapours or fumes that may be evolved during processing. Storage : Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs. Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep away from direct sunlight. SECTION 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION Engineering controls : Ensure adequate ventilation. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at places where dust is formed. Personal protective equipment Eye protection : Safety glasses 2 / 5

Skin protection Respiratory protection : Long sleeved clothing : Respirator must be worn if exposed to dust. Use respirator when performing operations involving potential exposure to vapour of the product. Exposure Guidelines Exposure Limit Values AEL * (DUPONT) 2 fibers/cm3 8 & 12 hr. TWA Respirable fibers. AEL * (DUPONT) 5 mg/m3 8 & 12 hr. TWA Non-fibrous particulate and/or nonrespirable fibres. * AEL is DuPont s Acceptable Exposure Limit. Where governmentally imposed occupational exposure limits which are lower than the AEL are in effect, such limits shall take precedence. SECTION 9.
