Welcome to the Mount Boucherie Golf Academy Application & Information Package 2016-2017
MOUNT BOUCHERIE GOLF ACADEMY BACKGROUND INFORMATION School District #23 (SD#23), in cooperation with local golf courses, practice facilities and Canadian Professional Golf Association instructors are proud to present the Mount Boucherie Golf Academy (MBGA). The MBGA was spawned as an idea from three local teachers who saw this program as an opportunity for young golfers to vastly improve their skill levels through the "Learn, Practice and Play" philosophy. Under this program students will receive both private and small group lessons from fully accredited CPGA professionals. After receiving instruction, students will practice at the range, then go out and put their new knowledge into play on the course. The program is open to players of all ability levels, male or female; however, the main focus will be to attract the keen students who wish to improve their individual games and wishes to maximize their own potential. All students are encouraged to become members at one of the area s golf courses. The MBGA is an equity based program and, therefore, will provide access to students who cannot meet the entire costs of the program through a bursary fund established by the various contributory groups. At this time, the Academy only has room for 25 students. This will come under review as the program continues to evolve. Courses for the MBGA: Golf 10 Golf 10 is the first of the series of the Learn, Practice, Play series of golf instruction that the Mount Boucherie Golf Academy offers. This course is an alternative to Physical Education 10 with the exception that the location for the completion of the program would be on the golf course or practise facility rather than the gymnasium and that golf will be the physical activity focus, along with healthy lifestyles and personal and social responsibility. Golf 11 Golf 11 is the second of the series of the Learn, Practice, Play series of golf instruction that the Mount Boucherie Golf Academy offers. Students are expected to have gone through the Golf 10 course before they attempt the Golf 11 course. There is a natural progression of instruction that sequences the parts of the golf swing. The golf swing is broken down into its components that take into account the swing mechanics as well as the physiological differences in body types. After the swing has been instructed, different shots are taught based upon the shots learned in the previous two courses. Students who take this course are expected to know the swing and shots from the previous course. Golf 12 Golf 12 is the third of the series of the Learn, Practice, Play series of golf instruction that the Mount Boucherie Golf Academy offers.
