September 30/October 1 Side 1 Side 2 Pass a bean bag and Ask: What is your favorite sport, and what items do you need to play that sport? Dear God, we know no matter where we go you can help us. We love you. Amen. Pull out the card set with the pictures of sheep and a lion. Spread out all of the sheep in the middle of your group and keep the lion card to yourself. Say: Today, we are going to hear a story about a boy who had a big job. His job was to take care of sheep. What do you think he had to do to take care of these sheep? Say: There was an animal that was super hungry for sheep, it was a LION! How do you think he protected his sheep from a hungry lion? Say: God helped him! Let s practice protecting these sheep from the lion! Flip all the cards upside down and mix them up. Let each kid have a turn picking up a card. If it is a sheep, they can put it back in it s place upside down. If it s a lion, Ask: Start over and play again! Take out the card set with the pictures of places on them. Hold them up, one at a time, and ask your group *What is this place? *What do you do here? *Do you or other people sometimes need help when they are at this place? *What can we do when we need help here?
October 7-9 Side 1 Side 2 Pass a bean bag and Ask: What is one thing that you need help with? Dear God, you can do things that no one else can do. Only you can help us with anything! I pray that we will always go to you for help. Amen. Pull out your soldier cups and the block with the boy, David, taped on it. Stack the soldiers in a pyramid shape. You will let each kid have a turn knocking down the soldiers with the David block. You start and Say: This is David, God was helping him lead an army against these soldiers. CHARGE! Pass the block to the next kid, stack the cups and Say: (Let kids answer.) David s army had VICTORY! Say: Then God wanted David to lead His army into another battle. (Let kids answer.) Say: David s army was tired and did not have the strength to go into battle again. Say: God gave them the strength! David led the army into battle again with God s help! CHARGE! Keep playing, passing David around so every kid gets Have children line up side by side. You stand a few feet away. Say: Everyone line up here. I am going to ask, After I say, CHARGE! run to the VICTORY line where I am standing! Are you ready? (Let the kids answer.) Charge! Keep repeating several times instructing kids to use different movements to get to the victory line. Ex: jump, skip, twist, and crawl. a turn.

Page 181 Make It Stick: Hold hands with a friend while listening to the Bible story. (If there is an odd number of children, have one hold your hand.) Memory Verse: Practice the memory verse using your verse card. Take out your animal card set and set them face up on the floor. Say: We just read a story about David and Jonathan, two friends who had to say goodbye. Have your group color the coloring sheet. Say: David and Jonathan were sad to say goodbye. So let s put a sad face between them. Help those who need help. End with I am going to say different ways to say goodbye and you all have to guess what animal they match. *See you later, alligator. *Gotta go, buffalo. *Chow, chow, brown cow. *Toodaloo, kangaroo. *Adieu, cockatoo. Keep repeating. You can say them in funny voices or in reverse where you point to the animal and let them Pull out the yarn and make a zigzag line on the floor. Pair children up and then line up the pairs at the start of the zigzag. Say: Your challenge today is that you and your partner must walk together holding hands on this zigzag trying not to step off. October 21-23 Side 1 Side 2 Pass a bean bag and Ask: What is your favorite thing to share? Dear God, help us look for ways to help people like David did. Amen. Take out your Memory Verse Card and practice a few times. Then, take out your fishing pole and the fish and food cards. Flip all of the cards upside down, and have the kids one at a time go fishing! If they catch a food card, Ask: If they pull a fish card, have them practice the Memory Verse. Put the 2 small frisbees in the center of your group. Take out the card set and show your group the pictures one by one. Decide together if the picture shows something that David gave to Mephibosheth to help him. Put the helping pictures in one frisbee and the others in the other frisbee. After you sort out all of the cards, pass around a bean bag and Ask: Who can you help this week and how? Discuss until pick up.
October 28-30 Side 1 Side 2 Pass a bean bag and Ask: What was the last thing you did that you needed to ask for help? Dear God, thank you for making all of us able to help others in special ways. Thank you for the special ways you help us. Amen. Explore Read It: The Lord Is My Shepherd. Page 190 Make It Stick: Whenever you hear the word you point up to God. Memory Verse: Practice the memory verse using your verse card. Have your group color this week s coloring sheet. Have a group discussion about today s story, start with Have everyone stand in a circle with the bucket in the center. Play hot potato, passing the bean bag around the circle until you say stop. Whoever has the bean bag when you say stop can try to throw it in the bucket. If they get it in, have your whole group dance like David! If they don t get it in, Ask: Who can you help? Then, get the bean bag and play again! Take out the card set and sticky hand. Say: These cards review all of the stories that Luis went over today. They are all stories about David! David asked God for help with lots of things! Flip all of the cards face down in the center of your group. Let the kids take turns picking one with the sticky hand. When they select a card, have them do the motion listed. Then put the card back in the center of the group upside down.
