No custom music, all contestants will use same music and pattern. No routines needed except talent. Parents please have your children ready to begin at the start time. We call contestants name three times, after that time they will be moved to the end and points deducted. This helps us by keeping the competition running smoothly and ON TIME! *Entry tickets will be available at the door for $2.00 each. *A tentative schedule is above but subject to change.
Rules Overview: 1. The Mandatory Registration fee is NOT part of the entry fee. The registration fee pays for the contestant crowns and banners. 2. Winners will be in the Bois D Arc Bash parade on Saturday, September 26 at 10:00 am 3. Winning Overall Queens are required to attend the following events in order to receive all prizes & scholarships: Bois D Arc Bash Parade, September 26 Commerce Christmas Parade, December 5 Chamber of Commerce Meeting, to be determined by availability Miss Hunt County America Scholarship Competition, November 8 th with option to compete Final portion of scholarship awarded at 2015 Miss Bois D Arc pageant 4. All Overall winners earn the $150 sponsorship to continue to the next level if desired and qualify. This competition is NOT an official partner of Miss Hunt County, Miss Texas or Little Texas Stars HOWEVER- sponsorship to compete in those competitions will be awarded if interested. 5. All Talent is limited to 2 minutes. There are NO EXCEPTIONS. Music must be on DVD format. Talent is not required to win a beauty crown. 6. Age appropriate makeup is allowed. No flippers or full glitz hair and makeup. Good Sportsmanship is required at all times. Bad sportsmanship will not be tolerated and is grounds for disqualification without refund. 7. Judges decisions are final. Please do not approach judges. 8. Large stage props are not allowed. If you have a small prop and want to know if it is allowed just email me. We would be glad to help answer any questions. 9. Stage will be a T formation with three x s along the back and one in the center. Modeling workshop will be prior to the competition. Age Eligibility Age eligibility for each division is determined on the day of competition. Age groups may be split or combined depending on entries. Must compete age as of day of pageant. Judging Baby Miss Bois d Arc 0-23 months Little Miss Bois d Arc 2 4 years of age Tiny Miss Bois d Arc 5 6 years of age Mini Miss Bois d Arc 7-8 years of age Junior Miss Bois d Arc 9-12 years of age Miss Teen Bois d Arc 13-17 years of age Miss Bois d Arc 18-19 years of age The judges are a high quality experienced panel using a point system. The judges decision is final and no scores will be published. Please do not ask the judges for comments or areas of improvement. The judges are not allowed to provide critiques of contestants. All contestants will compete in interview, party dress/formal wear and casual wear, which are considered the Beauty Competition. The judges are not looking for a professional pageant girl, but a well-rounded representative for their age division who embodies the qualities of a good role model for their age. Qualities considered include: manners/ polite, good sportsmanship, a friend to all and consistent in all that they do. Modeling Competition The judges are looking for the overall impression of each contestant and not their ability to model. The walk and turns during competition should be natural and simple. This is not a runway modeling competition. The scores will not be affected by hand motions or facial expressions. You need to be yourself, stand tall and walk gracefully. No props are allowed during modeling competition. Official Modeling Music The music will be selected and played for all contestants by the Director. The same music will be played for all contestants as they model.
Competing for the Baby Crowns (0 4 years of age) The Baby competition is judged on the overall impression the contestant leaves on the judges for playtime, modeling and photogenic events. This includes their personality, stage presence, poise, confidence, eye contact and choice of outfit as a compliment to the contestant s personality. The value of the outfit is not judged. All contestants will participate in this portion of the competition, which consists of the following categories: Baby Playtime (40%) This is a closed interview with the judges. The babies (0-2 yrs.) will have Playtime with the judges instead, and can bring one chaperone (dress is casual). This phase of competition is designed for the judges to get to know the contestants a little better and to get to see them up close. They will be taken back in groups. Babies are allowed to bring in 1 toy of their choice during Baby Playtime. Photogenic (25%) Please bring one picture (typically head and shoulders) that shows the photogenic qualities of your child. They will be returned and can be any size up to 8X10, color or black and white. Name & age should be on back of photo. No Frames Party Dress/Sunday Best (35%) Any length dress is acceptable, but must be age appropriate. The dress will not be judged this is about the contestant s personality, enjoyment on stage & overall presentation. Baby Awards Overall Winner: Judged on all phases of competition. One overall winner will receive a crown, trophy, banner. Beauty: Judged on combined score for interview (baby playtime) and modeling events. One winner will receive: Official crown and banner. Model Award: Judged on the Party Wear phase of competition (babies judged while on stage in party dress). One winner with highest scores will receive a crown. Photogenic Winner: Judged on photo only. One will receive a Crown.
Competing for the Overall Crown (5 24 only) Contestants requesting to compete for the overall crown in each age division must compete in the talent competition. The score from the talent competition will be combined with the scores from the interview and modeling scores to determine the overall winner in each age division. Each phase of competition is weighted as follows: Talent 40% Interview 30% Party Dress/Sunday Best 15% Photogenic 15% Competing for the Beauty Crown (5 24 only) The beauty competition is judged on the overall impression the contestant leaves on the judges for interview and modeling events. This includes their personality, stage presence, poise, confidence, eye contact and choice of outfit as a compliment to the contestant s personality. The value of the outfit is not judged. All contestants will participate in this portion of the competition, which consists of the following categories: Interview (50%) This is a 3 minute (for ages 5-8) and a 5 minute (for ages 9 12) time for the judges to get to know the contestants. The contestant will sit in a chair while talking to the judges answering simple questions about their likes and what they enjoy. This is not an intelligence test. The judges are looking at the overall first impression, natural, wellmannered with a great personality, able to communicate based on age level, poise, confidence, smile and commanding presence. Make up is not allowed for the Tiny Miss (ages 5 6) and Mini Miss (ages 7 8) divisions in Interview. A Sunday dress is appropriate. Party Dress/Sunday Best (25%) Any length dress is acceptable, but must be age appropriate. The dress should complement the contestant s personality. Note: A beauty winner will be crowned in each age division. The percentages are noted above for the calculation of the beauty score only Photogenic (25%) Contestants are judged on their ability to show their beauty, personality and charm through pictures. Photos can be black and white or color and the size should be a 5x7 or 8x10. The picture should be a current photograph of the contestant. All photogenic entries must be beauty contestants as well. Photos should not be in frames, binders or covers. A photogenic winner will be from each age division will be awarded..
Talent Competition (5 year and older) Talent may be anything that entertains the judges and audience that shows the contestant s ability. Examples include dancing, singing, gymnastics, baton twirling, monologue, playing an instrument, comedy, etc. The judges are looking for showmanship, stage presence, proficiency, use of stage, technical skill level based on age and how the talent outfit/costume compliment the talent selection. Talent time limit is 2 minutes. The time starts from the first movement or first sound of music. Contestants with over time limit talents will not be eligible to win the overall title or the talent winner in the age division. The contestant is responsible for providing their own music. Please note the quality of the music as it is important. Please make sure your talent music is the only track on the CD. CD s must be labeled with the contestant name and age division. The sound technician will not start and stop the music during a performance. Music should be edited to stop within the time limit. Coaching from the audience or side of the stage is prohibited. Individual talent rehearsals will not made available. Any contestant singing or speaking will be required to use a microphone. The size and the number of props should be limited and must provide a function to the talent presentation. Props must be easily and quickly moved on and off the stage. Please make sure someone is there to move props; otherwise, no parent(s)/legal guardian(s), friends or coaches are allowed backstage. Prohibited props include fire, water, pyrotechnics, glass, knifes, weapons, live animals or special lighting. Gymnastic presentations will not be allowed to use a mat and there is no limit to the number of tricks included in the routine. The talent presentation must be performed alone with no assistance. Please use discretion in the talent presentation or costume. Any suggestive performances or costumes will be noted as a disqualified talent. Photogenic Contestants are judged on their ability to show their beauty, personality and charm through pictures. Photos can be black and white or color and the size should be a 5x7 or 8x10. The picture should be a current photograph of the contestant. All photogenic entries must be beauty contestants as well. Photos should not be in frames, binders or covers.
