WETHER COURTESY OF CHOCOLTE THUNDER NOL Greetings, Kickballers! Hopefully everyone had an enjoyable first week of games, rekindled things with old friends and met some of the new faces in the league. Let s continue this trend as we head into Week 2. Here is the forecast. WETHER SYNOPSIS: cold front stretching through the Mississippi River Valley approaches the mid-tlantic and Southeast. This frontal boundary gradually weakens as it interacts with high pressure over the mid-tlantic. secondary area of high pressure builds in from the Great Plains, with low pressure beginning to organize over the Southern Plains. GMEDY FORECST: Fabulous weather conditions is on tap for our scheduled matchups under the lights! High pressure to our northeast continues to provide sunshine for the metro New Orleans. disturbance sliding south and east from the Great Lakes may produce a few clouds in the afternoon. Otherwise, this system will not be a concern as its moisture is squeezed out by high pressure. Expect seasonably warm temperatures into the low to mid 80s. Skies will remain clear after sunset, with temperatures falling into the upper 70s. Winds will shift from the E/ENE to out of the SE around 5mph by first pitch. PIGE 5
Tips & Rules: Check out this page each week for a new tip. Could be the little tid bit of information you are looking for. TIP & RULE OF THE WEEK RULE What happens if a ball is kicked in the air and hits a base runner that is on base? If you are forced off of that base and the ball hits you after it is kicked, you are out. If you were not forced and on base, you would be safe. TIP We certainly recommend wearing cleats instead of tennis shoes. They give you extra grip and are much safer when the fields are wet. That can keep you from falling right on your tail. Do not wear metal spiked cleats ever. That is dangerous. The cleat of choice for all veterans are the outdoor soccer cleats. Rules to live by: If you can only remember a few rules, make sure it is these: NO GLSS on the fields No driving on the fields. Never park past the wooden poles. Don t drink and Drive lways supply a 1st/3rd base ref for the game directly before or after yours. Pick up your trash Hi there good looking! My name is Sean Gaubert and I will be the head umpire this season. The home umpires are paid because of their knowledge of the rules and their ability to diffuse a heated situation. Each team supplies a 1st or 3rd base ump on in the game slot they are not playing in. I will publish a rule of the week in this newsletter and will be happy to answer any questions or discuss any disputes you have at the fields, at the bar, or by email: sgaubert@kickball.com ll WK rules can be found on www.kickball.com PIGE 6
FLIP CUP Get your team flip-offs completed by 9:15 so we can get flip cup rolling @ 9:30. The keg at the stage is for flip cup only! The keg at the DJ booth is for other antics. Learn this, live this. Your Friendly Flip-Cup Board Need flip cup help? Got a crazy question or simply need a hug. These wonderful people are here to help. Meagan standings Robbie rules One match is 5 against 5 with the first team to win three rounds is the winner Only the first person on each team toast when the ref says so. fter you toast, your cup must touch the table, then you drink the sip of liquid, and finally flip the cup. In round 2, the 2nd person starts and the 1st person will actually go last. Then in the third round, the third person starts and so on. When the cup lands successfully, the next teammate can go. Do not touch your cup until your teammate s cup has landed. The cup must contain a small amount of liquid. If the ref calls a tie we go to jungle rules ll 10 people at the table flip at the same time and the last team to finish loses the round. When flipping the cup, one hand must strike the cup from underneath and that same hand can t touch the side of the cup. If you flip out of turn, your team loses just that round. The definition of flipping out of turn is actually flipping the cup before your teammate in front of you completes their turn. Picking up the cup prematurely is allowed, but you must put it back down to begin your attempt. You may use the 2nd hand to hold the cup in place, but you cannot use it to guide the flip. The 2nd hand must stay down at the table. nyone caught cheating will face a 2 second penalty the next round. If it is the final round, it will be the judge s discretion for a reset. Water is ok to drink and it is encouraged. Need a ride?
