BASEBALL SOFTBALL Launched in 2005, the year-round Mustang baseball program has established itself as a powerhouse. The Mustangs have won four Regional Championships. The most recent Regional Championship came in 2016, sending the Mustangs to compete for a district championship. Noteworthy individual accomplishments for the Mustangs include Hector Marmol winning a Rawlings Gold Glove award in 2014, and left handed pitcher Tony Hernandez being selected in the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the New York Yankees. Six other former Mustangs have signed professional baseball contracts. The Mustangs baseball program is split into three parts: varsity, junior varsity, and academy. All programs offer the opportunity to become part of a top-quality team while earning a college degree. Academy players train five days a week and participate in a weight training program. They are also included in the varsity and junior varsity team s scout day, when players are given the chance to be scouted by four-year institutions. Some of the top players in the academy may be offered scholarships at other college institutions, and we encourage and support players looking to transfer to NCAA programs by providing the baseball skills and education needed for student-athletes success. Monroe Mustangs baseball is about opportunity. Monroe players play for quality coaches in a toplevel collegiate program. Most importantly, because there s an emphasis on academics, Monroe baseball players excel in the classroom, earn college degrees, and pave the road to success on and off the field. 2016 NJCAA Division I Region 15 Champions 2015 NJCAA Division I Region 15 Champions The Monroe College softball program dates back to 2004 and competes within the NJCAA Division I level. Monroe softball provides a top-quality collegiate environment with first-rate coaching and facilities, the chance to master a range of skills and the opportunity to grow and develop, both academically and athletically. The Mustangs play two softball seasons, one in the fall and one in the spring. While spring games are played against varsity NJCAA programs, the fall season gives players the chance to compete against NCAA programs. The players who perform the best in Monroe softball are the ones who are committed and dedicated, not only to their team, but to personally achieving on and off the field and in and out of the classroom. 2011 NJCAA Division II Region 15 Champions 4 MONROE MUSTANGS ATHLETIC PROGRAM ATHLETIC PROGRAM MONROE MUSTANGS 5
