Coale s first win came in her first game as OU s head coach, a 62-50 victory over Oral Roberts on Nov. 22, 1996. The 100th win came 170 games later on Feb. 5, 2002, a 69-60 win over then-no. 10 Baylor at Norman. Win No. 200 came 141 games later on March 8, 2006, a 78-74 win over Iowa State in the first round of the Big 12 Championship. Coale Winningest in Big 12 Oklahoma head coach Sherri Coale has a record of 142-75 in Big 12 regular-season conference games. Coale is in her 14th season coaching the Sooners, all since the BIg 12 formed in 1996-97. Since then, no coach past or present has more wins in league play. Lighting it up Career Night After Night The Sooners fast-paced offense has seen career scoring highs set for all of its active players at least once this season. Counting only its non-freshmen, Oklahoma has played 11 games in which a total of 13 career personal bests were scored. Abi Olajuwon and Danielle Robinson have each reset their career scoring high three times this season. Opponent Career Scoring Highs Set Mercer Olajuwon (16), WIllis (6) TCU Olajuwon (23) Notre Dame Robinson (26) UT-Arlington Roethlisberger (29) Arkansas robinson (31) Marist hartman (8), Stevenson (32) Creighton Willis (7) CS-Fullerton Olajuwon (25) Tennessee Thompson (26) Kansas McFarland (11) Oklahoma State Robinson (36) No. 23 Achieved, No. 24 and 25 On the Way. Danielle Robinson scored nine points to become Oklahoma s 23rd player to reach 1,000 in a career against Marist, Dec. 9. She now has 1,237 career points scored. Seniors Amanda Thompson and Nyeshia Stevenson are quickly reaching the milestone themselves. Thompson has scored 958 points as a Sooner, leaving her 42 shy of the mark. Stevenson has scored 938 points, 62 away from 1,000. Courtney Paris achieved 1,000 career points in 46 career games and no other player in women s basketball since the year 2000 achieved the mark quicker than her. The NCAA record is 37 games held by three players (Maree Jackson, LSU; Carol Menken, Oregon State; and Sandra Hodge, New Orleans). Robinson Reaches 400 Career Assists Danielle Robinson recorded her 400th career assist with her fifth and final one versus Marist. Robinson is fourth on OU s career assist list and trails Sharee Mitchum (1992-95), who had 601, for third place. Stacey Dales (764) and Dionnah Jackson (606) are first and second in the all-time rankings. Robinson Breaks Multiple FT Records OU junior Danielle Robinson finished the 2008-09 season as one of the nation s leading free throw shooters. And this year, she is finding many of her opportunities at the line. Robinson is 90-of-105 (.857) from the charity stripe this season, including a 57-of-59 (.966) effort in Big 12 games. The junior broke her own OU record (previously 30 set last season) for consecutive free throws made with a current streak of 35 straight. The Big 12 record is 44 by Colorado s Kate Fagan (2002-03). Against Oklahoma State on Feb. 6, Robinson made 16-of-16 free throws, breaking OU and Big 12 records for best singlegame free throw percentage and most consecutive single-game free throws. Stevenson Matches 3-Point Record Nyeshia Stevenson s nine 3-pointers made versus Marist helped her establish a new career scoring high and also matched a 28-year-old Sooner record. The only other Sooner to make as many 3-pointers in a game was Carin Stites, who did it twice -- vs. Arkansas on Nov. 27, 1990, and vs. UT-San Antonio on Jan. 21, 1991. Thompson One of a Kind Senior forward Amanda Thompson, a.k.a. The Waitress, loves to serve up people. She s only the second Sooner ever -- the other being Courtney Paris -- to record 100 blocks and 100 steals in her career. Against Oklahoma State on Feb. 6, Thompson reached her 750th rebound and 250th career assist, making her one of OU s most prolific players, statistically, on both offense and defense. Block Party Amanda Thompson is the only Sooner in history under 6-foot-2 to have 30 or more blocks in a season -- a feat she has achieved twice. Through 22 games in her senior season, she already has 22, putting her on pace to reach the mark again this year. Amanda Thompson had 21 blocks as a freshman, 34 as a sophomore and 31 as a junior. She ranks fourth all-time on OU s career blocks charts. Olajuwon s Scoring Efficiency Danielle Robinson leads the Sooners with 17.3 points per game, but it is senior center Abi Olajuwon who is the team s most efficient scorer. Olajuwon s rate is 0.5158 points per minute played, just higher than Robinson s 0.5156.

G a m e P r e v i e w 5 Caton Hill Deploys Caton Hill built a reputation as a hard-nosed player for Oklahoma, a rugged rebounder who played in a school-record 140 games. Her coach calls her a player who defines the Sooners program. Hill, now a U.S. Army captain, said Wednesday that lessons learned from her basketball career should help her deal with challenges she might face while on combat duty in Afghanistan. She leaves for a one-year deployment on Friday - and she s nervous. It will be a great experience, but it s still scary, said Hill, who is from Ada. You have to respect the situation.... It s not like I m going out and doing a lot of risky business, but I m still there (in Afghanistan) and I m a flight surgeon. There is some anxiety, but a lot of stuff you can t control, so I focus on what I can control. Hill said she will serve as a flight doctor for the Army s 3rd Infantry Division, Combat Aviation Brigade, 4th Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment - also known as the Task Force Brawlers - primarily working with helicopter pilots on the front lines. Hill, a 6-foot-1 forward, played for the Sooners from 1999 to 2004 and is sixth on Oklahoma s career scoring list with 1,653 points. She twice earned All- Big 12 Conference honors from coaches and started for Oklahoma s 2002 national runner-up squad. She was a relentless competitor on the basketball floor, a do all the dirty jobs kind of post/power forward, Oklahoma coach Sherri Coale said. She was never the biggest or the fastest, and I used to joke that you could put a couple of pieces of paper under her feet when she jumped. But she found a way to get the job done - whatever it was you asked her to do. After graduating from Oklahoma, Hill decided to enter the university s medical school. She also decided to join the Army Medical Corps, with the Army paying her medical school bills in exchange for her service. It was a decision influenced by the fact her father, Howard Hill, and uncle, John Binkley, both served in the Army. Her brother, Andrew Hill, also is in the Army. Caton Hill said she grew up at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas and that she s always been around the military, so she understood its culture. I wanted to join because I think... going and taking care of people who are fighting for you is one of the most honorable things to do, she told reporters in a conference call from Georgia. ----------------------------------- Fans may send messages to Caton Hill via e-mail at CPTCatonHill@gmail.com. Previewing Baylor Baylor comes to Norman of the second game of the 2010 series ranked one spot higher -- No. 11 -- than the Sooners in the Associated Press Poll. The challenge again will be defending 6-9 freshman center Britney Griner, who averages 19.4 points and 8.4 rebounds and last week set the Big 12 single-season blocks record with 133. The Lady Bears have been set back by an injury to junior Melissa Jones, the team s second leading scorer, who has missed six games due to a stress condition in her right tibia. Freshman Shanay Washington proved to be a thorn in the side of the Sooners in their January meeting, totaling 12 points and three steals. SDSU Win Sets Margin Record Oklahoma s 87-48 win over then-no. 23 San Diego State set the program record for margin of victory over a ranked opponent. The game was played Friday, Nov. 27, at the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam in St. Thomas. OU stormed to a 47-15 halftime lead and never relenquished, winning by 39 points. The previous OU record for margin of victory over a ranked opponent was 34 points from a 105-71 victory over then-no. DePaul in the 2006-07 season opener on Nov. 12, 2006. National Defense Oklahoma s defense versus Army set the tone as the Sooners held the Black Knights to 25 percent (14 of 56) shooting and just 46 points. The point total was the lowest for a Sooner opponent since OU held North Carolina Central to 25 points on Jan. 4, 2009. It was the lowest point total for a Sooner opponent on the road since OU defeated Lamar, 79-44, at Beaumont, Texas, on Nov. 29, 2006. Hand Suffers Torn ACL Sophomore sharpshooter Whitney Hand is out for the season after suffering a torn ACL of her right knee. Hand was the 2009 Big 12 Freshman of the Year. The injury occured near the end of the first half of OU s win over San Diego State at the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam in St. Thomas. Oklahoma s Wins...and Losses...Are Quality Oklahoma has played the nation s second-toughest schedule, behind only Rutgers. Oklahoma s six losses have come to teams currently ranked in the top 20. Oklahoma is No. 7 in the RPI calculator following Wednesday s loss to No. 17 Texas. The Sooners are 3-6 versus the Top 25 this season and play ranked teams in eight of their final 10 regularseason games.
