2017 Snowmass Summer Event Lineup Whether an Athlete, Foodie, Music Lover, Mountain Biker, Car Enthusiast, or Simply a Nature Lover, Snowmass Offers Something for Everyone This Summer Snowmass, Colo., (March 2017) The 2017 Snowmass summer event lineup features an event nearly every weekend, with a wide variety of festivals, races, and more, sure to please guests of all ages. This summer, Snowmass Tourism features three new events: BLUEBIRD Art + Sound (June 30-July 2), Yoga on the Mountain (August 11-13), and The Aspen Snowmass Vintage Car Race (September 14) in conjunction with the Motoring Classic & Car Club Week (September 14-17). The lineup also includes the return of classic favorites such as Heritage Fire (June 17), Colorado Scottish Festival & Rocky Mountain Highland Games (August 4-6), Zoppé Italian Family Circus (August 18-20), and many more. The 2017 schedule also includes shifts in scheduling for several seasonal favorites The Snowmass Balloon Festival moves to the weekend of September 8-10, while the Ragnar Trail Snowmass joins the Snowmass Craft Beer Rendezvous on June 10. The Summer 2017 schedule features a tremendous variety of events and activities for both locals and visitors to enjoy, says Rose Abello, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. All of our events, together with the biking and hiking trails, the VIK program, 30+ restaurants and so much more, continue to enhance our brand as a premier summer mountain destination. Ragnar Trail Snowmass June 9-10: The Ragnar Trail Snowmass, a team relay-style race occurring on a gritty trifecta of scenic running loops, starts off the summer of Snowmass events. Each trail loop begins and ends at Ragnar Village. Teams run relay style, rotating through all three loops in a test of endurance and perseverance. Snowmass Rendezvous Craft Beer Festival June 10: Snowmass Rendezvous Craft Beer Festival, presented by the Colorado Brewers Guild, is the ultimate hoppy kick-off to the summer season. Guests can sip and savor beer from over 30 craft brewers during the three hour grand tasting event, culminating with a concert by Hot Buttered Rum on Fanny Hill. Snowmass Summer Concert Series June 10-September 9: Returning for its 26 th summer season, the Snowmass Summer Concert Series draws guests to Fanny Hill for a relaxed atmosphere and spectacular mountain setting to enjoy the country s most distinguished rock, R&B, soul, and Latin performers. Bring a picnic and a blanket for the ultimate al fresco experience. Cocktails and beer are available for purchase. Kids Zone available at select performances. Concerts take place on various days of the week throughout the summer season. Thursday, August 10 Summer Concert Series: Sundy Best Presented by Snowmass Tourism Thursday, August 17 Summer Concert Series: Otis Taylor Band Presented by Snowmass Tourism Saturday, Sept. 9 Summer Concert Series: 90 s Night Glow Show Presented by Snowmass Balloon Festival Heritage Fire - June 17: Complementing the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, Heritage Fire returns, this time on Saturday, June 17, for a not-to-be-missed wood-fired, meat-laden feast. Forty notable chefs and butchers cook up 3,000 pounds of heritage breed animals, while wineries, breweries, and craft distillers offer drink pairings. The weekend also includes a free concert by See-i on Thursday, June 15. AREDAY Summit, Expo & Electric Vehicle Show June 19-24: Founded in 2004 as a one-day renewable energy expo, American Renewable Energy Day (AREDAY) is now one of the most important renewable energy technology and policy summits in the United States. Held annually in Snowmass each summer, AREDAY attracts national and international attention with its impressive roster of speakers and participants. The expo includes a free concert by Brothers Keeper with John Popper on Thursday, June 22. The Haute Route June 28: The Haute Route is cycling s first global series of multi-day races designed for amateur athletes. Held in incredible mountain locations including the Colorado Rockies, French Alps, Pyrenees and Italian Dolomites - these are some of the highest elevation, toughest amateur cycling events in the world. Rookie and expert athletes tackle some of the most renowned terrain in the cycling world in Snowmass this summer. BLUEBIRD Art + Sound - June 30-July 2: BLUEBIRD Art + Sound is a new, distinctive art and world-class music experience in Snowmass. For its inaugural year, BLUEBIRD Art + Sound is centered around the theme Us. The weekend commences on Friday with an art walk on the Snowmass Mall, an interactive art exhibit in Base Village, known as the BAS Art Experience, curated by Los Angeles artists Jesse Fleming and Emma Gray. Friday also features a musical performance on the Fanny Hill Stage by the Drive-by Truckers, with opening act, the Seratones. Saturday holds additional opportunities for enjoying art on both the Snowmass Mall and in Base Village, while DJ Kid606 and interactive art exhibit concludes the weekend on Sunday. The Snowmass Community Picnic & Fireworks July 4: Guests and visitors alike are invited to celebrate Fourth of July evening in Snowmass with lawn games, sweet treats, and more. The festive affair cumulates with fireworks over Fanny Hill at 9pm.
Aspen Deaf Camp Celebrates 50 Years July 15: Deaf Camp Benefit, established in the 70s with the help of John Denver, Jimmy Buffet, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and others, supports the great things Aspen Camp does for deaf and hard of hearing kids. The Deaf Camp Benefit is a free event though donations are encouraged to benefit the Aspen Camp of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This summer, Lucas Nelson, son on Willie Nelson, plays a free concert on Fanny Hill on Saturday, July 15. Colorado Scottish Festival & Rocky Mountain Highland Games August 4-6: This renowned festival, now in its 54th year, features bagpipes, highland dancers and athletes, clans, Celtic music, a free concert by Ruaile Buaile and more. Yoga on the Mountain August 11-13: Yoga on the Mountain is a new, three day, boutique yoga festival presented by Power Yoga Retreats. The festival features over 60 diverse yoga classes, music, meditation, personal discussions, hikes, parties, vendors, and more. Zoppé Italian Family Circus August 18-20: The Zoppé Italian Family Circus returns this summer to welcome guests into an intimate 500-seat tent for a onering circus that honors the best of the Old-World Italian tradition. Snowmass Balloon Festival September 8-10: The 42nd Annual Snowmass Balloon Festival shifts a week earlier on the calendar to capitalize on the beauty and natural surroundings of Snowmass in the fall. The Snowmass Balloon Festival fills the sky with color as over 30 balloons launch each morning at 7am, while a theatrical Night Glow on Saturday evening features a 90 s Night Glow Show concert. The Aspen Snowmass Vintage Car Race - September 14: For the first time in Colorado in 19 years, the sights and sounds of high-octane racing come alive on the streets of Snowmass Village. Kicking off the Motoring Classic Weekend, guests can watch as vintage Corvettes, BMWs, Porsches, Mustangs, and formula race cars from the 1960s and 1970s fly by during this exhilarating new event. The Motoring Car Classic & Car Club Week - September 14-17: Vehicles of all shapes and sizes gather in Snowmass for an action packed week featuring all things auto. With the Aspen Snowmass Vintage Car Race kicking off the festivities, the week sees car shows, in addition to cars from car clubs include Porsche, Ferrari, Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing, BMW, Audi, Cobra, Viper, and more. Additionally the week features the Snowmass Wine Festival, hosted by Rotary Club of Snowmass Village, featuring a Friday evening wine-paired dinner and a Saturday grand tasting.
