SS Luis Guillorme registered the lone extra-base hit for the Gnats. The Legends (7-4/38-43) used three pitchers to hold the Gnats to just one run on five hits. Starter Scott Blewett tossed five scoreless innings allowing just one hit and striking out four. Reliever Eric Stout allowed the Gnats lone run in the seventh inning. Evan Beal picked up the win after his one inning of scoreless relief. Gnats (4-9/43-40) starter Martires Arias allowed just one run and struck out three over his six innings of work. Guillorme tallied two of the Gnats' five hits.tied 1-1 in the ninth, DonAndre Clark and Luis Valenzuela hit back-to-back singles to score the go ahead run off reliever Jimmy Duff. SAND GNATS GAME 1 STARTER: RHP Scarlyn Reyes took a shutout into the seventh inning for the second time this season. The right-hander completed the shutout with a complete game against the GreenJackets and topping his career-high in strikeouts with 12. Reyes did so first on 6/18 vs. Asheville, before allowing two unearned runs. Reyes tossed a career-high 8.2 IP and struckout a then career-high 11. The right-hander took home Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of June 1 st -7 th and again for the week of June 15 th -21 st. The native of the Dominican Republic has won seven of his last eight starts. SAND GNATS GAME 2 STARTER: RHP Michael Gibbons will make his Sand Gnats debut in game two today. Gibbons was added to the roster today from the Brooklyn Cyclones. Gibbons was 2-0 over two starts with a 5.91 ERA (7 ER/10.2 IP) and a complete game. K-MART: RHP Martires Arias tossed six inning last night and allowed just one run on four hits. His three strikeouts give him a team-high 76, which ranks second in the SAL. Arias had an impressive 13 strikeout night over 6.2 innings against Lexington on 6/26. The native of the DR faced 26 batters on Friday and struck out 50%. Arias over took former Sand Gnat Brad Wieck, who was traded to San Diego. Wieck s 74 Ks still ranks four in the SAL. GOING, GOING, GARCIA: 3B Eudor Garcia homered in back-to-back games on 7/5 and 7/6 at Flour Field at the West End in Greenville, SC. Garcia totaled four RBI in that series against the Drive. Eudor has six homers since joining the Gnats in May. THE GREAT GUILLORME: SS Luis Guillorme tallied his 84 th and 85 th hits last night, which ranks him third in the SAL. Guillorme also raised his batting average to.304 tying him for 10 th in the SAL. FIRST HALF CHAMPS: The Savannah Sand Gnats won their fifth First Half Southern Division Championship in six years. Savannah clinched the title after Lakewood defeated the Greenville Drive in a 2 o clock game on Sunday, before the Gnats defeated the GreenJackets in a 5 PM game. The Gnats won the First Half in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
