South Atlantic Synchro Open Part of the 2014-2015 Eastern Synchronized Skating Challenge Series Sunday, January 11, 2015 Hosted by the Richmond Figure Skating Club at The Richmond Coliseum, Richmond, Virginia Sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating

2015 South Atlantic Synchro Open Synchronized Skating Competition The South Atlantic Synchro Open will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the U.S. Figure Skating, as set forth in the current Rulebook as well as any pertinent updates which have been posted of the U.S. Figure Skating web site. This competition is open to all synchronized teams comprised of members who are eligible, restricted, reinstated or readmitted persons as defined by the Eligibility Rules, and currently registered members of a U.S. Figure Skating member club, a collegiate club or an individual member in accordance with the current Rulebook. Refer to the current rule book for non-u.s. Citizens. This event is proud to participate in the Eastern Synchronized Skating Challenge Series. Participation in this series is open to all Beginner 1, 2, or 3 teams and preliminary, pre-juvenile, juvenile, open juvenile, open collegiate or open adult 1 and 2 teams. Visit www.usfigureskating.org for more information on this series. Results of this event for participating teams will be reported to U.S. Figure Skating for calculation of the series results. ELIGIBILITY / TEST AND AGE REQUIREMENTS: Skaters must meet the age requirements by the July 1 st preceding this competition. Moves in the Field test requirements are as of the entry deadline. ENTRIES: The South Atlantic Synchro Open is utilizing EntryEeze, the secure, on-line registration system for all event registration and practice ice. A single team contact will need to register each team separately and pay for that team (all members together) in the online system. When you register the team, you will need to provide the following information: a. Team Contact this will be the contact information for a primary person who will be responsible for the team b. Team Name this will be the name of the team used on the skating orders and in the program c. Number of team members (this should include alternates) and will be the basis of the per member charge for the event d. The team roster - for each of the team members, you will need the following information: i. Skater first and last name ii. Skater date of birth iii. Skater highest test passed for freeskate and moves in the field iv. Skater USFS number v. Email address of the skater if over 18 or the email address of the skater s legal guardian if under 18 so that they can accept the liability waiver for that skater. Online entry with secure credit card payment is available at www.richmondfsc.com. Online entry must be completed by midnight on November 14, 2014. Notification of competition and practice ice times will NOT be available by phone, mail, or email. Skater and Coaches schedules will be available via the web at www.richmondfsc.com by following the links to South Atlantic Synchro Open. The entry fee is $ 625 per event, this includes a photo package for each team that is detailed below.. The entry fee for Basic Skills beginner is $75 per team plus $5 per skater. This will include a team

photo. Beginner teams may also purchase the photo package as detailed below. Late entries must include a $25 late fee. REFUND POLICY: Entry fees will not be refunded after November 14, 2014 unless no competition exists or is canceled. The online processing fees are not refundable. Checks returned for non-sufficient funds and contested credit card charges will be assessed a $25 fee. Payment of the fee will be required before the team is allowed to participate in practice ice or events. FACILITIES: The competition will be held at The Richmond Coliseum at on Sunday, January 11, 2015. The South Atlantic Synchro Open is hosted by the Richmond Figure Skating Club. The competition rink is a 200 x 85 oval. The temperature is comfortable in the arena which seats over 10,000 people. We are pleased to offer a judge s critique to coaches at this competition. Coaches must be present to receive the critique which will be held directly after the conclusion of competition events. MUSIC: Only CDs (standard Compact Disk format) will be accepted. CDs must run on a typical audio system and should not consist of mp3 or similar computer files. The CDs must be clearly marked with the name, event and length of program. Due to compatibility and reliability reasons no music may be submitted on re-recordable CDRW discs. The official competition music must be turned in at the registration table at the time of check-in. A duplicate CD should be readily available. Music may be picked up at the registration table following each event. Every reasonable care will be taken, but the Richmond Figure Skating Club cannot be responsible for CDs left at the end of the competition. PLEASE HAVE SEPARATE CD S FOR PRACTICE AND COMPETITION. LIABILITY: U.S. Figure Skating, The Richmond Figure Skating Club, and Richmond Coliseum accept no responsibility for injury or damage sustained by any participant in this competition. This is in accordance with Rule 1600 of the official U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook. JUDGING SYSTEM: The International Judging System (IJS) will be used for the following events: - Intermediate - Novice - Junior Short Program & Free Skate - Senior Short Program & Free Skate - Collegiate - Adult The majority 6.0 Judging System will be used for the following events: - Beginner 1-3 - Preliminary - Pre-Juvenile - Open Juvenile - Juvenile - Masters -Open Masters - Open Adult groups 1 & 2 - Open Collegiate All teams competing in a level judged under the IJS will be required to complete a planned program content sheet. Each team s Planned Program Content sheet must completed via their Member s Only profile at www.usfsaonline.org at least 7 days before the start of the event.

REGISTRATION: Registration will begin Saturday, January 10 th at 5pm and end at close of the competition. Registration will be open two hours before the first event on Sunday and run through the last event on Sunday. The registration table will be located at the 6 th Street Entrance of the Richmond Coliseum. One team representative should register on behalf of the team, as soon as the team arrives at the competition. Check the schedule for locker room assignments. This may be a coach or team manager. Coaches must register separately to receive their credential (see coaching requirements below). ADMISSION: There is an admission fee for the competition. General Admission is $12; Children 5 and under are free. Students 6 12 are $8; Seniors 55 and up are $10. Tickets can be purchased at the box office at the Richmond Coliseum near the 6 th Street entrance. Upon arrival, coaches should pick up credentials at the registration desk. Each team will receive one chaperone pass. PRACTICE ICE: Practice ice will be available at Richmond Coliseum on Saturday, January 10, 2015. The ice surface is 200 x 85. Please use the online registration system to request and pay for practice ice sessions at the time of registration. Practice ice will be sold in 5 minute increments for $50 per session. Sessions can be reserved in Entry Eeze at registration. Multiple sessions can be reserved to create 10 or 15 minute slots. All 22 minute sessions (10 min. SP + 12 min. FS) will be available for Junior and Senior free skate programs practice for $205. A 12 min. practice session will be available for $105 for Junior, Senior or Collegiate freeskate programs. PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEOGRAPHY: A full photography package is included in the registration from Action Photos for all teams except Beginner levels. Beginner Teams may purchase the photo package by filling out the attached order form and returning it to the LOC with payment at the address shown on the form. Two photographers will be taking pictures during the competition and you will be able to download any and all photography of your team from the ActionPhotos website after the event. Photos will be retained for a year to give you plenty of time to download pictures of your choice. Videography Services may be available. At the time of publishing this announcement, we are still in negotiation with several companies and hope to offer video during the event. AWARDS: Medals will be awarded to all members of the top four placing teams in each event. Awards ceremonies will be held on the ice at the times designated on the schedule. OFFICIAL NOTICES: The official start orders and results will be posted in the Coliseum concourse near the 6 th street entrance and the official schedule will be posted at registration. It is the responsibility of each competitor, parent, and/or coach to check the official schedule frequently for any schedule changes and/or additional information. Skaters are requested to arrive 45 minutes prior to the scheduled time of their event. A tentative schedule of events will be posted prior to the competition. INFORMATION REGARDING COACHES: To coach at a U.S. Figure Skating competition, a professional coach or choreographer must be: Declared by the skater or team in the registration process Listed as Coaches Education Requirement (CER) Category A or B / Category C for Basic Skills/Beginner events) compliant for the current season Current with Coach Registration (requires annual fee and background check) A current member in good standing with U.S. Figure Skating A current member in good standing with the PSA

The local organizing committee/club will have a list of coaches who are cleared for a credential at the competition. Coaches will need to check in at the event registration desk and show a government issued photo I.D. to receive a credential. Coaches who are NOT on the list will need to show proof of membership in U.S. Figure Skating, a Coaches Registration card, proof of Category A or B (C for Basic Skills) compliance in CER, and a photo I.D. at check in. If a coach cannot provide a photo I.D. and is not on the list or cannot produce the necessary documents, he or she will not be allowed a credential no exceptions. We strongly urge all coaches to have their cards with them. Non-credentialed coaches will not be permitted in the designated coaching area at rink side during events including practice sessions. Two parking decks are adjacent to the Richmond Coliseum. One is on 7 th street, the entrance is directly across from the Coliseum and another on 5 th Street at Marshall, directly between the Richmond Marriott and the Richmond Coliseum. Parking is $8 on weekends. There is also street parking available all around the Richmond Coliseum. Skaters should be dropped off at the Leigh Street entrance of the Richmond Coliseum. Intermediate: A team of 12 to 20 skaters. Skaters must be under 18 and have passed the prejuvenile moves in the field test. Program duration: 3 ½ minutes. Well balanced program: Rule 7230 I. Novice: A team of 12 to 20 skaters. Skaters must be under 16, with the exception that up to 4 team members may be 16 or 17. All must have passed the juvenile moves in the field test. Program duration: 3 ½ minutes. Well balanced program: Rule 7220 J. Junior: A team of 12 to 16 skaters. Skaters must be at least 13 and under 19 on the preceding July 1. All skaters must have passed the intermediate moves in the field test. Short program duration: Maximum 2 minutes, 50 seconds Free skate duration: 4 minutes Well balanced program and short program: Rule 7210

K. Senior: A team of 16 skaters. Skaters must be at least 15 on the preceding July 1 and have passed the novice moves in the field test. Short program duration: Maximum 2 minutes, 50 seconds Free skate duration: 4 ½ minutes. Well balanced program and short program: Rule 7200 L. Open Collegiate A team of 8 to 16 skaters. Skaters must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be enrolled in a college or university as a full-time student, as of the entry deadline. Program duration: 3 minutes. Well balanced program: Rule 7290 M. Collegiate: A team of 12 to 20 skaters. Skaters must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be enrolled in a college or university as a full-time student, as of the entry deadline, and have passed the juvenile moves in the field test. Program duration: 4 minutes. Well balanced program: Rule 7280 N. Open Adult : A team of 8 to 16 skaters. The majority of skaters must be at least 19 years or older. Program duration: 2 ½ minutes. Well balanced program: Rule 7520 O. Open Masters: A team of 8 to 16 skaters. Skaters must be at least 25, and the majority of the team must be at least 30. Program duration: 2 ½ minutes. Crossover Rules: No team may be comprised of more than 50% of athletes that are also on any other team.
