Intended use When fall arrives and the weather begins to turn, cyclocross season begins. It is a special time when riders come together every weekend to ride and run on mud, grass, gravel, pavement and whatever else the course throws their way. The Threshold is built to shine in all of these conditions and then some. Though it is purpose-built for the wild ride that is a CX race, the Threshold is by no means a one-trick pony. The cantilever Threshold comes with both vertical and horizontal dropouts, so it s easy to swap in a single speed setup when you want to dial up the crazy and participate in a single speed CX race. And the new Threshold Disc comes equipped with disc brakes that offer the ultimate in stopping power. These bikes also feature fender, rack and water bottle mounts, making them fine all-weather commuters or winter training bikes. Full internal cable routing keeps your cables away from the elements, reducing wear and ensuring precise braking and shifting in all conditions. The cantilever brake version of the Threshold comes with replaceable dropouts: Use the super-stiff vertical dropout with built-in derailleur hanger for precise, crisp shifting on race day, and swap in the horizontal dropout to run the bike as a single speed when the situation calls for it.
