The Long Eaton Field Archers Solstice Shoot This was nearly the shoot that never was. Given the volume of rain which fell on our wood in the days leading up to the shoot, the a number of the course team met on Friday night for a pitch inspection and decided that we could just run the shoot. The worry was the state of the ground in the higher parts of the wood which offer Torville and Dean a secret practice location whenever they consider coming out of retirement. A magnificent effort by a small number of club members saw paths re-routed and a couple of last minute target changes to enable the clubs first ever 40 3D open. With a Robin Hood theme, a host of archers in fancy dress, spies searching for Robin Hood and s fantastic catering team providing sustenance at every turn we felt we were on to a winner. Thanks to all those archers who to a chance on the weather and turned up. How you were rewarded. For the no-shows, a quick email would have been nice, even on the morning of the shoot! The Chairman and committee would like to acknowledge the generous support given to the club by Custom Built Archery, Dixie Leathercraft, Quicks Archery and particularly Merlin Archery who all helped in various ways to make sure the event was a success. Another acknowledgement is fitting to the large number of archers who made such kind comments to the marshals on Sunday, or took the time to publicly thank the club via the NFAS forum for the quality of the experience they enjoyed on Sunday.
