Thanks to Don Quesenberry, John Dailly and Jim Donovan we are at the end of our membership roster clean-up. Lots of work went into it, and we thank the three of you. We can now measure exactly where we stand as to our membership, and will be able to accurately balance losses against gains. As always, we want gains--the more the merrier!! The following members have been dropped from the roster: Ronald Bei-Badge # 062, Ken Henry-Badge # 032, Donald Leipski-Badge # 201, Francisco Moralez-Badge # 051, John Raley- Badge # 162, and Steve Wright-Badge # 027. Other membership actions are as noted: Robert Bone Badge # 088 was made an Inactive member. John Cronick Badge # 085 was retained as an Active member. Lee Glaves Badge # 084, was made an Inactive member. Oscar Hughes Badge # 146 was retained as an Active member. E.J. Kelly, Badge # 195, is an Emeritus Member, and will remain so. Philip Laing, Badge # 188, is an Honorary Life Member (HLM) and will remain so. Thomas Raley Badge # 139, Thomas Sanborn Badge # 205, John Sarmiento, Badge # 209, and Tony Stratton Badge # 036 were retained as Active members. Remember the line from Glengarry Glen Ross-- A B C -- Always Be Closing! Bring in some

new members. Give your friends a chance to experience the carefree ambiance and pleasant surroundings of our Branch 93 luncheons, the spirited and sparkling conversations, and the great food and drink offer. (I have seen some of the scores you guys post, so don t tell me you don t know how to lie!!) And let s make our Branch the GO-TO organization for Senior Citizen Golf and bowling!! If anyone has an interest in other things--wine tasting, a mixer dinner, stamp collecting-- whatever--let s see if we can work that into something to offer to all our members. It would be nice if we had a dozen different activities to pick from. Volunteer. We need volunteers to perform the limited duties required of Branch officers. I know many of you have already done great duty to the Branch, and more is not expected of you. But some of you have not done much, and are not so burdened otherwise by your life that you can t afford a couple hours a month to keep this worthy institution running. So please, examine your inner self, and step up. Or do what I did--drink too much wine and raise your hand in a blur!! Coming in October!!!! A push for next year s dues. That s right--quit moaning. It s 20 bucks. Some of you guys act like we re removing a kidney for crying out loud. Our goal is to have 100% of the dues paid by the January meeting. Don t forget the Christmas Party. It s coming a nice sit-down meal, and something you ve all been waiting and hoping for me being stripped of my office and powers! That s worth seeing. Also, there s the pageantry of the installation of next year s officers. You can come alone as many do, bring a friend, or someone you love. Some of us even bring our wives! Good times! Mike Glaviano And from your Little Sir Our guest speaker for September is Jan Geiger. She is a docent with the Crocker Art Gallery. Jan will bring us up to date on the new exhibits, activities and programs the Crocker has to offer. If you have lived in Sacramento for any period of time, you know the Crocker is one of Sacramento s premier historic treasures. I am told Jan is an excellent speaker and her presentation is chock full of interesting information. On August 14 and 15, our Branch fielded a bowling team at the SIRs Bowling Tournament in Reno. Our team (Al Machado, Bill Hitchcock, Bob Olsen, and myself) came in second in the Division Two Team competition. Bob Olsen and I came in second in the Division One Doubles competition. We have competed in Reno for several years, but this is the first time we have done this well. Reno is one of the biggest statewide SIRs tournaments. Ken Hill
