Albert Tiong Singapore Graduating from Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts on scholarship in 1996, Albert Tiong was a professional dancer with Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan from 1996 1999, guest artist with Hong Kong Dance Company in 2000, and principal dancer with Odyssey Dance Theatre Singapore from 2000 2003. He was the Singapore representative for World Dance Alliance Asia-Pacific dance Bridge 2007 Artist Showcase with his solo, Heart Sutra. As an educator, Tiong teaches contemporary dance and yoga extensively in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. He is currently a lecturer at LASALLE College of the Arts, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and NUS Dance Synergy. He was resident choreographer and training master at Frontier Danceland from 2007-11. Key choreography includes Self Scan for Singapore Arts Festival Arts On the Move 2007, Beg Your Pardon? (2009); Second Chance and In the Light of the Day for M1 CONTACT Contemporary Dance Festival 2010-11, and Heart s Realm for the Colorado College International Dance Festival. In 2012, he founded Re:Dance Theatre, a contemporary dance company. Independently, Tiong has been commissioned for the Esplanade da:ns Festival 2008 (Checkmate) and the 10th anniversary celebration of da:ns Festival in 2015 (co-choreographer, Above 40); the M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2010 (The Passing), and as guest choreographer for various platforms such as NUS Arts Festival, and the LASALLE dance showcases at da:ns Festivals 2010, 2011, 2013 2015. He was invited for two consecutive years as guest choreographer for the Singapore Management University Arts Festival 2009 and 2010.
Goh Shouyi Singapore Goh Shouyi graduated from SUNY Purchase College Conservatory of Dance, New York (BFA in Dance) and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore (Diploma in Dance), under National Arts Council Arts Scholarship and the Georgette Chen Arts Scholarship respectively. As a choreographer, he has presented his works in New York as well as at Esplanade s da:ns Festival and M1 CONTACT Contemporary Dance Festival in Singapore. He has performed in works by Kuik Swee Boon, Albert Tiong, Lim Fei Shen, Dr Danny Tan, Ku Ming-Shen (Taiwan), Yvonne Ng (Canada), Loni Landon (USA), Larry Clark (USA) and Stephanie Tooman (USA). In 2013, he performed with the Purchase Dance Company in their first full season in New York City. During his time there, Goh had the opportunity to train with established artists such as Janet Panetta (Tanztheater Wuppertal Guest), amongst others. Goh joined T.H.E Second Company in 2009, and has choreographed for its lithe showcase in 2014-15; the M1 CONTACT Festival s AFX platform in 2015 in collaboration with Seoul Dance Collection 2014 winner Kim Hwanhee and its premiere at Seoul Dance Collection 2015; the M1 CONTACT Festival s Southeast Asia Showcase 2013, which toured to festivals in South Korea and Gothenburg in 2016. Most recently, he participated as a choreographer in Toy Factory s PRISM (2017).
Seon Jeongchan South Korea Born in Busan, Jeongchan began his contemporary dance training at age 19. He received a Bachelor s Degree from Hansung University and a Master s Degree from the Department of Dance at Sejong University. As a dancer and choreographer Seon s recent projects include Mouth to Mouth (2009) at Wiz World Dance Festival, not alone (2013) at Open Space, Glad World because it is mean (2014) at Ballet Festival Korea, co-choreography for the musical Maria Maria (2016), Running at Culture Day in Presidential Committee for Cultural Enrichment, Youth, Run at ChunCheon Mime Festival, and And build a picturesque house at the 2017 Dream&Vision Dance Festival. He received the Bronze Prize, Modern Dance Part at the Dong-A Dance Competition 2010, 2nd prize at the International Dance Competition Hellas 2011, and Popularity Network Prize at the Young Artist Awards 2016. Ode to youth, his joint choreographic creation with Lee Younghun, premiered at Seoul Dance Collection in 2016, and the pair won the 10th edition of the Collection.
Kubota Mai Japan Kubota Mai began studying in ballet from the age of 4. Enrolled at the Saitama Prefecture Art Comprehensive High School she was exposed to a wide variety of dance forms including contemporary dance, and at age 17 participated in an internship in New York City. After graduating from university she performed at numerous festivals and events, and has recently been invited to perform her works at the Korea National University of Arts.
Lee Younghun South Korea Born in Busan, Lee Younghun attended Hansung University in Seoul, graduating with Bachelor s and Master s Degrees from the Department of Dance. As a performer he has taken part in Ballet Festival Korea with Wall (2014) and Seoul International Dance Festival for 3 Translation (2014). As a choreographer, his creations include Rain, 雨 (2013) at the Rising Choreographer Match-up, Meditation (2014) at Kubo Dance Company, the Creative Musical Geunchogo 2, Facing the moment at ChangMu Performing Arts Festival, Running at Culture Day in Presidential Committee for Cultural Enrichment, Youth, Run at ChunCheon Mime Festival and And build a picturesque house at the 2017 Dream&Vision Dance Festival. Zhuo Zihao Singapore Zhuo Zihao received his contemporary dance training at LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, both under scholarship. He has worked with various choreographers including Alberto Del-Saz, Robert Tannion, Charlotte-Boyd Christensen, and Cheng Tsung-Lung. He was also a resident artist with Odyssey Dance Theatre in Singapore. As a founding member of T.H.E Dance Company, he has performed in all of the company s works since its establishment as well as featured his solo work at the CONTACT Contemporary Dance Festival in 2010. In 2012, Zhuo was conferred the Young Artist Award (Dance) by Singapore s National Arts Council. In 2016, Zhuo stepped down as a company dancer to become an independent artist and Associate Artist with T.H.E. He was co-commissioned to create a new work with Yarra Ileto for T.H.E Dance Company s annual showcase in 2016, Helix, and is a founding member of the ongoing project Dance in Situ, an initiative that aims to bring dance out of the theatre and into the community, where works are created in relation to the landscape of the chosen sites.
