Fredrick Moodie, Kinderdance & Tap Instructor Fredrick Moodie has been part of the Fairmount family of instructors for many years. Starting in the Theatre Program teaching Theatre Tap Dance, his schedule quickly grew to include Beginning and Intermediate Dance Classes for children and adults. He was 18 when he started dance lessons at Karamu House and took play acting and dance classes while also attending Boyd Business College and working three jobs. After a while he decided Acting was more demanding then he had time for; so, he continued with Dance classes. While in class at Karamu, sometimes he would see other students struggling to get a dance step the instructor was teaching. Mr. Moodie found himself thinking, Gee, I think perhaps I can show/explain to others in an easier step-by-step way. It was years before his opportunity arrived to become an instructor. What s Mr. Moodie s favorite part of being a dance instructor? That s easy.. the little kids. Every day, they make my day. They lift my spirits and help bring out the very best in me.
