Madison County Genealogical Society P.O. Box 1031, Norfolk, NE 68702-1031 mcgs@telebeep.com www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nemcgs/ www.nesgs.org/~mcgs Nancy, I am Floyd Brown from Lyons, NE and am sendg the attached photos to seek your assistance possibly identifyg any of them. The photos came from a picture album of William Rautenberg. The album was handed on to a nephew Elmer Rautenberg, and Elmer's wife, Mae, gave the album to her daughter (Judy Brown) 1983. Mae could not identify any of the members and a Wilma (Rautenberg) Brown of Tilden could not identify any of the photos. I have shown them to many people the Tilden area and no one can identify them. I don't know if old negatives with names were saved by companies and turn given to the Society. If a time period could be set on some that might be helpful. The photo entitled Willie's book 19 has the name Chas. Routenberg on it. However there were two Chas. Routenbergs, the father and the son. The son was sickly the latter part of his life and the last few years he spent Norfolk at the Verges Sanitarium. Possibly you have some of those records from the middle years of 1930s. I gladly will do the research those records should you have them. Please form me of your hours at the Society. 17 Dec 2008 Family Group Sheet Husband: ALBERT ROBERT RAUTENBERG #418 Born: 13 June 1874 Columbus, Wiscons 1 Died: 29 May 1941 Tilden, NE 1,2 (see note 1) Confirmation: 18 Jun 1926 Tilden, NE Immanuel Lutheran 3 Buried: 31 May 1941 Tilden, NE Lutheran Cemetery 4 (see note 2) Occupation: Farmer 5 Father: CHARLES FRIEDERICH RAUTENBERG, SR. #423 Mother: Louise Henrietta Dorothea Gabriel #424 Wife: EMMA AMELIA SANNE #419 Married: 28 Sept 1904 Tilden, NE 6 Born: 16 DEC 1883 WEST POINT, NE 4 Died: 21 Feb 1937 Tilden, NE (at home) 6 (see note 3) Buried: 23 Feb 1937 Tilden, NE (Lutheran Cemetery) 6 (see note 4) Father: AUGUST SANNE #984 Mother: BERTHA WEDLER #985 F Child 1: BERTHA ANNA RAUTENBERG #454 Born: 11 Apr 1905 Tilden, NE 7 Died: Oct 1953 Tilden, NE 8 Spouse: JOSEPH QUINCY BOSSARD #455 b. 16 Aug 1906 d. 14 Feb 1978

Another brother, Charlie lived with him at the same place. They never married so just lived there all the time. I remember Charlie, too. Then Charlie died, and Willie lived alone. He didn't have a car, never tried to get one, always rode to town with Robert and Elmer. Then his later years, he decided to move to town and wanted Elmer to have the place, so made a deal with him, so he could pay on it every year until he had it paid for. So that is the way it was and how we got to live there. This was always the Rautenberg place. Their parents came here from Germany and first lived a dug out at the bottom of the hill until they built a house which was that big granery that we used. It was papered with newspapers to keep the cold out. I saw the newspapers and wondered why so thats what they told me. Then they started buildg that house up the hill where it was when we lived there. They added on as time went on and they needed more space. Elmer's father (Albert) got married and lived where they always lived by the school house. I really don't know if there were any sisters, I will ask Wilma.
