Accommodations: The Sea Trail Resort Convention Center is the main hub throughout the weekend at Bike MS: Breakaway to the Beach. There are many overnight options, and you won t see these prices any other time throughout the year. Guests may contact the Reservations Department at 1-800-624-6601 by Wednesday, September 30, 2016. Please advise guests to identify themselves with Bike MS Event in order to receive the group rate. Family and Friends at the Event: Family and friends are welcome! Invite them to cheer you on at the finish line and enjoy the weekend with you. Meal tickets are available for purchase for $10 on our website prior to the ride and at the Volunteer Desk inside the Convention Center during event weekend. We also welcome spectators to the finish line outside the Convention Center. Personal or Team SAGs: No Personal or Team SAGs are allowed on the route or at rest stop areas. In the interest of safety for all of our participants, we must limit the number of motorists on the route and at rest stops. Personal vehicles compromise rider safety and threaten our ability to use these venues in the future. Official Bike MS SAG vehicles are available throughout the course to transport cyclists. Please meet friends and family at the finish line each day. Cue Sheets: Where to find them: Convention Center Ballroom at Registration Tables Downloadable at www.breakawaytothebeach.org approximately two weeks prior to ride weekend. Please note that all cue sheets list an emergency number that you can call anytime during the ride to seek assistance. *Last minute route changes are sometimes necessary.* Route Support: Rest Stops are located every 10 to 15 miles. Bike Mechanics are stationed throughout the event at rest stops and start/finish. Repairs are free of charge with a Bike MS Inspection Sticker. Riders are responsible for the cost of any parts. Radio Communication is available at all rest stops. Medics are available at all rest stops and emergency vehicles. Bike medics will be roaming the route. SAG Vehicles give a lift to riders in need and can be identified by car magnets that state MS Support Vehicle. The lunch rest stop will have a support vehicle dedicated to bringing cyclists back to the start/finish line if needed. To signal a SAG vehicle: (1) move off the road and out of the path of other riders (2) dismount and stand near your bike (3) give a thumbs down to the SAG vehicle. At peak hours, SAG vehicles may be full, so please be patient until the next SAG vehicle arrives. Ride Marshals will be traveling among event participants to ensure that all rules of the road are being obeyed and that cyclists are riding in a safe manner. Please bring your route maps; be aware that any last minute route revisions may not be captured on these maps. To avoid getting off course, follow all route signage and route marshals. Cycling Safety: Our focus is to provide a high quality, safe and fun bicycling experience. While we do an enormous amount of planning to provide for your safety, we ask that you do your part prior to the ride by visiting our bicycle safety page at www.breakawaytothebeach.org where you will find cycling manuals, safety videos, safe cycling tips and links to more information. Cue sheets will be provided at packet pick-up and will be available online at www.breakawaytothebeach.org. Please study these closely and make sure to bring it to the ride. RIDE SAFE. RIDE SMART. Bike MS Safety Policy: Should a cyclist choose to behave, act, or ride in a manner that is endangering themselves or others, route safety support have been instructed to remove their bib and wristband and prohibit them from continuing on the Ride. Please remember this is a ride, not a race. Ride Identification: Rider wristbands- Wristbands must be worn at all times over the event weekend to receive access to event amenities. Thank you for helping us keep this event fun and fulfilling for all registered participants. Rider bib numbers change year to year and are used for identification of your bicycle at the Ride. The lowest bib numbers are in orange and are reserved for participants who were the top 50 fundraisers in 2015. Please show your appreciation for this amazing group of top fundraisers. Bike MS will take you further than you ve ever gone before. It s not the miles that matter it s the unforgettable journey. In 2015, 30 people who self identify as having MS will participate in the I Ride with MS program. BR 4 2016 Bike MS Pre-Ride Newsletter

I Ride with MS People who ride in Bike MS may do so to support family members, friends or coworkers who have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. But, there are also legions of participants who live and ride with the disease, despite challenges such as fatigue or weakness. I Ride with MS is a special Society program that celebrates Bike MS cyclists who are also living with multiple sclerosis. Anyone living with MS who is interested in cycling to support the MS movement can join the program, enjoy special day-of-event benefits and receive a complimentary I Ride with MS jersey. Genzyme and MS One to One, and Primal Wear are proud supporters of the I Ride with MS program, available through all 100 Bike MS events nationwide. I Ride with MS participants are not only committed to cycling to create a world free of MS, but to increasing awareness. For more information or to register for the program, find your Bike MS event below or contact the Society to sign up for this program today! 8 2016 Bike MS Pre-Ride Newsletter

Linking Lives Linking Lives is a unique program through our Bike MS events. This program connects individuals with MS to Bike MS cyclists who may not have a direct connection to someone living with MS. If you are living with MS and want to help create powerful connections through our Linking Lives program, please contact Rebekah Malkin at Rebekah.Malkin@nmss.org or 336-645-3315. We Need Volunteers! Bike MS volunteers ensure a superior and safe experience for all riders! We have volunteer openings for October 8-9. OFF MY WAVE. Ocean Beach native and local surf legend Steve Bettis was diagnosed with MS in 2006. Although surfing is still central to his life, he hasn t been able to get out on the water in 10 years. For a man whose daily routine always included a few waves, more than a decade out of the surf is just too long. This is why the National MS Society teamed up with his buddy Robert Wingnut Weaver and used virtual reality to get Steve back on his wave. See their experience and find out how you can share yours at WeAreStrongerThanMS.org. Together We Are Stronger. 10 2016 Bike MS Pre-Ride Newsletter
