Homecoming Parade 2017 Guidelines Parade Entries, We are excited about the 2017 Homecoming Parade at Town Square! Thank you again for your parade entry. This is going to be a great event to recognize and celebrate the successes of our students. Please read carefully - A few final instructions/directions to help you: Parade vehicles/floats may be parked in their assigned spot in the staging area at 10am the day of the parade. All adult volunteers, sponsors and student participants should report to the parking lot behind Trulucks BY 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 11. The parade will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Have all parent volunteers, sponsors and students at your assigned parade float entry spot (by number) by 6 p.m. Dress appropriately for forecast bring your own bottled water. We will have some limited bottled water on-site. All parade entries are by # (see attached lineup and Town Square staging map). This is the number you will be referred by throughout the staging and parade event. Each parade entry will be assigned an Event Staff Volunteer. These volunteers will be overseeing your staging, communications and assist you before, during and after the parade. Event Staff Volunteers are there to assist you, but each faculty/adult sponsor is ultimately responsible for your own students, including accounting for them before, during and after the parade.
Once you have arrived at the staging area, go to the chalked area with the corresponding # and wait to check in with your assigned Event Staff Volunteer. 1. Once you are in the chalked off area corresponding to your parade entry #, check in with your Event Staff Volunteer. 2. Turn all adult/student waivers for your group over to the Event Staff Volunteer. 3. Listen for special instructions over the bullhorn! You need to be at your assigned spot in the Town Square staging lot by 6 p.m. Be sure to watch for drivers on their cell phones, not paying attention, etc. to the best of your ability, safety is of utmost importance! The parade will commence promptly at 6:30 p.m. Your parade entry will follow the leader according to the arrows around the staging parking lot and down Grand Avenue between Barnes & Noble and Truluck s. Remember no throwing items at parade spectators. Pep rally sponsors will be allowed to hand out novelty items to crowd at the end of the parade before the pep rally starts. The parade ends behind Corner Bakery. Disembark from your floats/vehicles. There will be Event Staff Volunteers there to assist you as you move your students up to the pep rally area near the steps of Town Square. Be watchful and cautious about traffic and pedestrians. The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11. Staging will be behind Truluck s at 6 p.m. The route will go from the Northwest parking lot behind Truluck s, down West Grand Ave. to Grand Ave., passing in front of the Gazebo, and ending at the Southwest parking lot behind Corner Bakery. 2017 HC PARADE ENTRY GUIDELINES For CISD-sponsored groups, please follow the guidelines below when planning your parade entry: A faculty sponsor must be responsible for submitting a parade entry application by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3. A faculty sponsor or adult representative must attend the MANDATORY parade entry informational meeting at 4 p.m. in the CSHS SAC on Wednesday, Oct. 4. To enter the parade, you must be an official CISD school organization or team comprised of students in grades 7-12. The only exception will be one parade entry per CISD K-6 campus and special CISD adult parade entries (i.e. Teachers of the Year, etc.). The faculty sponsor is responsible for approving and overseeing the design, construction, and safety of each parade entry. Any parents who supervise this process must maintain contact with the faculty sponsor. All entries must be no larger than a standard flat bed trailer (16 ). Remember, the parade entry must not be wider than one lane of traffic. There will be three VERY SHARP turns in the parade route. Student groups with a paid corporate sponsor will be provided a 3X10 sponsor banner for use in front of the parade entry. Each organization is responsible for using its own funds or soliciting donations for parade entry materials and vehicles. All students/participants riding on the parade vehicle or walking must have a signed waiver on file with the organization sponsor. Waivers MUST be available for the safety check on Parade Day. Staging for ALL parade entries will take place at 6 p.m. in the parking lot behind Truluck s at Southlake Town Square. Vehicles/floats may be parked in their assigned spot in the staging area at 10 a.m. the day of the parade. A final safety inspection will take place when the parade entries are lined up behind the Truluck s in Southlake Town Square. Any entry deemed unsafe at that point will not be allowed to participate. The sponsors must have appropriate waivers. All parade entries must have an adult licensed driver AND an adult/parent supervisor inside the vehicle as well as an adult/parent supervisor either on the parade entry or walking beside it, supervising the students. Please ask your drivers to drive very SLOWLY and CAREFULLY. Please discuss appropriate behavior and safety with your students. We don t want the actions of a few to spoil future opportunities to have a parade. All vehicles should have at least one passenger in the front with the driver to help watch. Each float and flatbed truck must have AT LEAST 4 people walking around the sides of the vehicle to ensure the safety of everyone involved. No items can be distributed from the floats to the crowd along the parade route. Only pep rally sponsors are permitted to hand out spirit items. Items must be pre-approved by the 2017 Homecoming Planning Committee. No vandalism of floats or parade entries will be tolerated at any time. Parade entries must be removed from Town Square and properly dismantled immediately after the Community Pep Rally. Participants will be dismissed at the end of the parade in Town Square. If you have any questions on the parade day, look for STAFF onsite.

I agree that the school district and/or school personnel are not to be held liable for damages caused by me or any accident or injury sustained by me. I hereby authorize Carroll Independent School District to seek emergency medical attention for me in the event the emergency contact cannot be reached.
