Eight of the nine starters had a hit, while LF Hernan Iribarren and SS Jose Peraza each had two hits. LOU managed 10 hits in the game last night, and had three extra-base knocks. LLHP Cody Reed was outstanding in six innings, allowing three hits and one earned run, walking two and striking out five. He lowered his ERA to 3.20 with the effort. The Bats were 4-for-18 with runners in scoring position. SCHHHHHHHEBLER: OF Scott Schebler extended his hitting streak to seven games with a triple last night, his second triple of the season. In this seven game run, Schebler is hitting.462 (12-for-26), with four multi-hit games, including a three-hit game. He also has two triples, two home runs, and six RBI in this current hot streak. He set a new season high with three RBI in last night s game. He also has hits in 11 of his last 12 games played and is hitting.432 in 12 June games, the highest batting average for the Bats this month. TRANSACTIONS: The Reds announced several transactions affecting the Bats roster prior to this evening s game. SS Jose Peraza and RHP J.J. Hoover have been recalled to Cincinnati, while RHP Daniel Wright was optioned back to LOU. In addition, INF Jordan Pacheco was placed on the 15 day Disabled List, retroactive to 6/3, with right shoulder tendinitis, and is joining LOU on a Major League rehab. Finally, INF/OF Donald Lutz was transferred from PEN to LOU. I LL TAKE HOME STATS FOR $200, ALEX: The Bats scored seven runs last night, and have now scored at least five runs in each of their last three home games, the first time they have done that since 9/4-9/6/15. They are 2-1 in the last three home games, and went 0-3 in that three game stretch last season. The trio of runs scored in the first inning was the first time they had scored three in the first inning since 7/31/15 vs. TOL, a game they won 8-5. The Bats have upped their home batting average to.245, led by INF Juan Perez s.288 mark. I LL JUST MAKE MYSELF RIGHT AT HOME: 3B Seth Mejias-Brean has a 10 game hitting streak at LSF, dating back to 5/21 when he hit an 11 th inning, walk-off home run. In those 10 games, he is 13-for-37 (.351), with two doubles, a home run, and nine RBI. BULLPEN STREAK JUST KEEPS GOING: Three LOU pitchers combined for three innings of scoreless relief, with RHP Michael Lorenzen joining the scoreless streak efforts. The Bats bullpen hasn t surrendered a run in their last six games, with the team going 4-2 in that span. Right-handers Drew Hayes, Jumbo Diaz, Matt Magill, Chad Rogers, Michael Lorenzen, J.J. Hoover, Stephen Johnson, and Steve Delabar, and lefty Wandy Peralta have combined for 20 and two-thirds innings pitched, with nine walks and 19 strikeouts. This stretch comes after a rough three-game patch from June 5-7, when LOU relievers surrendered eight earned runs in 10 innings of work. LORENZEN LOOKS GOOD: RHP Michael Lorenzen, working his way back from a strained right elbow, was solid in his inning of relief. He allowed a hit to the first batter he faced, but then got a double play before ringing up a strikeout to end the inning. He threw 15 pitches, 10 for strikes, in his first official game action of the season. Lorenzen pitched in extended Spring Training prior to last night s outing here at LSF. 180 AND 1: Tonight, RHP Stephen Johnson will make a spot start for the Bats. It will mark his 180 th career appearance and his first start since 2011 when he pitched for St. Edward s University, making 15 starts that season. Johnson, who came over to the Reds from San Francisco in exchange for OF Marlon Byrd, pitched in six games with Double-A PEN last season before coming to LOU for 2016. ETC. ETC. ETC.: The Bats have a minus-29 run differential, and are one of just two teams in the International League with an above.500 record and a minus-run differential, joining BUF (33-31, minus-4). CHA is 33-33, and has a minus-19 run differential LOU is now 7-2 on Monday s this season, their highest win total for any day of the week The game time temperature last night was 90 degrees, the hottest first pitch temperature of the season, and warmest since it was 93 degrees at first pitch on 9/6/15 against IND at LSF. SEASON SERIES STATS VS. SYRACUSE: A win tonight would give LOU the season series win over SYR, something that they have done in 12 of the last 22 years. The Bats have also split the season series five times, with the last time coming in 2013, when the Bats and Chiefs split eight games. SYR s three games at LSF this season are the fewest since 1991, when the Chiefs won both of the games they played in Louisville. TEAM STAT UPDATES: The Bats have a.259 team batting average, tied with LHV and GWN for the third best in the league. LOU has stranded 490 base runners this season, the most in the International League and 16 clear of CHA, who is second with 474 runners stranded. The team s 3.61 ERA is now seventh in the league, behind LHV s 3.57 mark. The Bats are one of five teams with over 500 strikeouts, collecting 501, joining DUR (607), SWB (527), IND (511), and GWN (502). WALK THIS WAY: The Bats worked five walks in last night s contest, their 12 th game with five or more free passes. Their season high is eight back on 5/13 at COL in a 3-2 loss. The Bats have worked 206 walks this season, fifth most in the league, while striking out 448 times, tied with GWN for the fourth fewest in the International League.
