LETTER FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER Dear Members, I hope that all of you are enjoying the winter here as much as my family is. It is certainly a nice feeling to have sun shine on your face rather than cold wind cutting through it. Below is an update on projects and initiatives that are underway at the Club. Club Survey I encourage all of you to take some time to complete the Club s annual survey. We will be sharing the results at the Annual Meeting which is currently scheduled for Tuesday, March 7 at 7:00pm in the Clubhouse. The link to the ABCC Club Survey is: http://atlanticbeachcc.clubhouseonline-e3.net/ Member_Central/2017_Membership_Survey.aspx Heating the Pool We are in the final stretch to activate the heating system for the pool. There was a delay in the custom construction of the heating control system that has set us back. It is our intention to have these controls in place and operational by Saturday, February 4. I, along with Allied Geothermal sincerely apologize for the lag and we have been doing everything in our power to accelerate the process. Bathroom on #16 Tee Danny Rodrigues has located the blueprints from the original bathroom on #7 Tee and is in the process of re-writing those to give us a firm quote on constructing the same bathroom arrangement on #16 Tee. As more information on this project is made available I will be happy to pass it along. Head Tennis Professional Search By the time you read this we will be in the middle of the second round of interviews for our new Head Tennis Professional. We have limited the field, from a very large number of resumes collected, to the final four candidates. It is my hope that you will be hearing very soon as to who our new Head Tennis Professional is and getting to know him or her. ABCC Committee Service I am sure that by now you have received emails and information regarding the Club s interest in engaging new members into committee service. I strongly encourage members and spouses of all classes to participate through these committees. The Leadership Development Committee will review the applications as well as seat all of the committees.
The committees that the Club has are: Membership Committee Sports & Recreation Committee Finance Committee Social Committee Golf Committee If you are interested in serving on a committee please see me, Melissa or Alex and we can pass the committee application along to you. The applications can also be found on our website or by clicking the following link. The link to the Committee Application is as follows: http:// atlanticbeachcc.clubhouseonline-e3.net/member_central/abcc_board_and_committee_members/ ABCC_Committee_Application.aspx Focus Groups Sports, Tennis and Pool focus groups will be selected towards the end of February. It was my intention to start all of them at the same time but with the selection of a new Head Tennis Professional and heating the pool, the program was delayed. I am looking at restarting this initiative in March after the Annual Meeting. Community Outreach Programs It is my professional belief that our Club has a certain responsibility to give back to the Beaches Community. I would like to share with you the programs that we have instituted since April of 2016. Prior to this past Thanksgiving I was approached by the Atlantic Beach Police Department to help prepare Thanksgiving meals for twelve families in-need. The ABPD received donations from Publix and BEAM and Chef Marvin produced a tremendous Thanksgiving meal for the twelve Atlantic Beach families that were in need of a great holiday. The second is our first Club management outreach program and will benefit the Beaches Mission House in Jax Beach. I, along with the Club s management staff, will donate our time at the beginning of March to help in their kitchen and facilities management. Third, The Beaches Historical Society approached me and asked for the Club s support with being the presenting sponsor for the 90 th Anniversary of Atlantic Beach. The historical society will be presenting the history of Atlantic Beach during the months of March, April and May. Please make it a point to stop by. These programs are in addition to our already established support of The Sea Turtle Hospital at Whitney Laboratory for Marine Science in St. Augustine and The Beaches Sea Turtle Patrol. In addition to the above, the Club has begun to work closely with the Atlantic Beach Police Department and JFR Engine 55. Their partnership and support of this Club and community has been tremendous and the management staff at the Club wanted to recognize their dedication to our community. In January and February, we have set aside some tee times and extended to these professional s tee times as well as lunch and beverages to thank them for their service. Sincerely, Robert A. Stone, Jr., CCM, CCE General Manager/COO
