LAST TIME OUT VERSUS PHILADELPHIA C.J. Sapong struck for a second-half hat trick as the Philadelphia Union snapped a 15-match regular season winless streak by defeating the New York Red Bulls, 3-0, Saturday, May 6 at Talen Energy Stadium. Moments after being robbed by Luis Robles, who reached back with his right hand to parry his headed attempt away, Sapong broke the scoreless draw. Sapong took advantage of a misplayed ball by Aaron Long, ran at the defender and put his deflected shot off Long and in to give the Union a 1-0 lead in the 74th minute. Andre Blake dived to his right to get a hand on a shot by Bradley Wright-Phillips at the edge of the six in the 80th minute and moments later Sapong headed in his second after Chris Pontius headed Fabian Herbers cross back in front of goal. Sapong put the finishing touches on his first career hat trick from the penalty spot in the 85th minute after Damien Perrinelle handled a cross inside the box. NOT ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA FOR RBNY Since Philadelphia began MLS play in 2010, New York owns an impressive 11-6-3 all-time mark against the Union. Philadelphia, however, owns a slight 5-4-2 edge when the match is played at PPL(previously named)/talen Energy Stadium (current name). The Red Bulls are almost unbeaten against the Union since head coach Jesse Marsch came aboard, supporting a 4-2-1 record. New York has played an even match in both halves against Philadelphia, in terms of scoring, tallying 15 goals in the first and 18 in the second. The Union, however, have found their success in the the second half, recording 20 of their 27 all-time goals against the Red Bulls. The Union recently tallied all three of their goals in the final 16 minutes against New York earlier this season in a 3-0 win. Bradley Wright-Phillips has tallied at least a point in six of the last nine matches against the Union, including five of six. Of Wright-Phillips last five points against Philadelphia, three have been game-winning goals. CLUB CONNECTIONS Kemar Lawrence and Philadelphia s C.J. Sapong have been teammates on the Jamaican National team from 2014 to present. Sacha Kljestan and Philadelphia teammates Maurice Edu and Oguchi Onyewu were teammates from 2008 to 2010 on the U.S. Men s National squad. Red Bulls teammates Sal Zizzo and Aurelien Collin and Union forward Sapong were teammates on the 2014 Sporting KC team. Bradley Wright-Phillips and Philadelphia s Jack Elliot and Jay Simpson hail from London, England. Alex Muyl and Union s Keegan Rosenberry and Josh Yaro played together at Georgetown from 2013 to 2015. New York s head coach Jesse Marsch and assistant coach Chris Armas were teammates with Philadelphia head coach Jim Curtin on the Chicago Fire from 2001 to 2005, while Red Bulls Sporting Director Denis Hamlett was the assistant coach at the time. Philadelphia s assistant coach Mike Sorber was a teammate of Marsch and Armas on the 2000 Chicago NEW YORK RED BULLS vs. PHILADELPHIA UNION Fire squad, with Hamlett as the assistant coach. Kljestan, Marsch and Curtin were teammates on the 2008 & 2009 Chivas USA team. Sorber spent the majority of his playing career as a NY/ NJ MetroStar from 1997 to 1999. Philadelphia s Adam Najem was a former New York Red Bull Academy player and his brother David is currently on the NYRB II squad. GOLD CUP ROSTER SELECTIONS Three members of the New York Red Bulls organization have been named to preliminary 40-man rosters for the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup. Michael Amir Murillo has been named to the Panama squad, while Kemar Lawrence and NYRB II s Junior Flemmings have been named to the Jamaican roster. Lawrence, a left back, has been a mainstay with Jamaica over the last few years, solidifying a spot in the Starting XI since joining New York in the early stages of the 2015 season. He has made 34 appearances for the Reggae Boyz since 2013. For the Red Bulls, he has played 13 games in 2017, with a goal and three assists. Murillo, 21, has made nine appearances for Panama at the senior level, earning his first cap in 2016. The defender joined New York at the beginning of 2017 on loan from San Francisco FC in Panama. Flemmings, now in his third season with NYRB II, has appeared at multiple youth levels for Jamaica, but has yet to earn a cap with the senior team. The Kingston native has four goals in 11 appearances for NYRB II this season. TIMELY LAWRENCE Each time Kemar Lawrence has recorded an offensive stat (goals/assists), he has made sure that it will affect the outcome of a game. On April 29, Lawrence tallied his first career game-winning goal in the 71st minute to extend New York s winning streak to three with a 2-1 victory over Chicago. Lawrence then assisted on Daniel Royer s game-winning goal in the 74th minute against New England for his second game-winning assist of 2017. Three Lawrence s four points this season have been game-winning plays with his first being the game-winning assist against Columbus last week. Of Lawrence s nine career points, seven have been game-winning plays. He has tallied six game-winning assists and one game-winning goal. ROYER RELISHING IN MLS The big signing of Summer 2016, Danny Royer, has relished his chance as a Red Bull starter this season, producing four goals and one assist in 13 games started. Royer got the Red Bulls going in week 1, scoring off of a header from seven yards out to tie the match in Atlanta in the 76th minute. The Austrian native then tallied back-to-back points, recording an insurance goal against Columbus and followed up with his first assist of 2017 against Chicago. Royer has scored in two of the last four games, both of which have come at the 74th minute or later. Two of Royer s four goals this season have been late-match heroics as his goal in the 76th minute against Atlanta evened the match and his goal against New England in the 74th minute was the game winner. 5 NewYorkRedBulls.com 5 IN: M Zeiko Lewis (1/13/17 - SuperDraft) M Dan Metzger (1/23/17 - signed from NYRB II) GK Evan Louro (1/23/17 - Homegrown) M Arun Basuljevic (1/24/17 - Homegrown) GK Rafael Diaz (1/24/17 - signed from NYRB II)) D Hassan Ndam (1/31/17 - transfer from Rainbow FC) D Michael Amir Murillo (2/21/17 - loan from San Francisco FC) D Aaron Long (2/22/17 - signed from NYRB II) F Fredrik Gulbrandsen (3/10/17 loan from Red Bull Salzburg) GK Evan Louro (4/28/17 - signed from NYRB II) OUT: NEW YORK TRANSACTIONS D - Karl Ouimette (11/28/16 - option declined) D - Ronald Zubar (11/28/16 - option declined) F - Omer Damari (12/12/16 - loan expired) M - Shaun Wright-Phillips (12/12/16 - out of contract) GK - Kyle Reynish (12/12/16 - out of contract) D - Chris Duvall (12/13/16 - Expansion Draft) M - Dax McCarty (1/16/17 - traded to Chicago) F - Fredrik Gulbrandsen (6/6/17 - waived)

Royer, who joined New York on a transfer from FC Midtjylland, had one goal and one assist in six appearances last season. CLOSING OUT MATCHES New York s unfortunate narrative in 2016 was that the team was unable to hold onto a lead or allow the opposition to take points away. Early on in 2017, the Red Bulls have seemed to have changed that narrative. New York is 7-0-1 when leading or tied at the 75th minute mark. (7 MLS/1 Open Cup) New York is 5-1 in one-goal matches, including 4-0 at Red Bull Arena. FIRST BLOOD New York is 5-1-1 when scoring first this season. The Red Bulls were 13-1-8 when scoring first in 2016, including an 10-0-1 mark when scoring first at home. During New York s first three-match homestand this season, it did not trail one minute of the 270 total minutes of play. ADAMS JOINED U-20 s New York Red Bulls midfielder Tyler Adams has been named to the United States Under-20 Men s National team for the 2017 World Cup. Adams, who joined the U-20s on May 7 for fitness camp, is named to the final World Cup roster after playing a major role for the team in the CONCACAF U-20 Championships in March. The United States began group play with a match against Ecuador on Monday, May 22, ending in a 3-3 draw. Adams helped assist on one of the US s three goals. The U.S. then defeated Senegal,1-0 on May 25, and wrapped up with a 1-1 draw against Saudi Arabia on May 28. Following their 2-0-1 Group play, the U.S. advanced to the quarterfinals after a decisive 6-0 win over New Zealand in the round of 16. Team USA, however, fell to Venezuela, 2-1 in extra time. The Red Bulls Homegrown Player totaled four starts in the CONCACAF Championships and played the full 90 minutes in three of his appearances. Adams was forced to make an early exit the opening match of the tournament due to injury and missed two games; only to bounce back and play the final three matches to help the U.S. U-20 s to their first CONCACAF title. Adams has entrenched himself into the Red Bulls Starting XI since he was given an opportunity to start against Real Salt Lake on March 25. Since then, Adams has started six of the last seven matches. The defensive midfielder has been crucial in New York s defensive success, anchoring a defensive third that has blanked three of seven opponents he has faced since being implemented in the starting rotation. INTEGRATING HOMEGROWNS Through 15 matches in the 2017 campaign, the New York Red Bulls have been able to integrate their homegrown players, not just with playing time, but as starters. Five of the seven homegrown players have been given the nod to at least start one game this season. Midfielder Sean Davis started the first three games of the season before coming off the bench against Real Salt Lake. NEW YORK RED BULLS vs. PHILADELPHIA UNION Versus Real Salt Lake, three of the 11 Red Bull starters were homegrown players as Tyler Adams, Connor Lade and Alex Muyl found themselves in the Starting XI. For the second game in a row, New York implemented three homegrowns in the starting lineup, featuring Derrick Etienne Jr., Adams and Lade against Houston. The player growth and the trust in the coaching staff have shown in minutes played from last season to this season. For the first time in franchise history, five Homegrown players made an appearance in the same match. Muyl, Adams and Lade started for the Red Bulls and both Davis and Etienne came off the bench. On May 3 against Sporting Kansas City, New York had another first in club history, recording four Homegrowns in the Starting XI, which included Davis, Etienne Jr., Lade and Muyl. The seven homegrown players combined for just 1,305 minutes through 15 games last season. In 2017, the same seven players have racked up 2,812 minutes. The 2,812 minutes are the most minutes for homegrown players on a single club in the MLS in 2017. On April 28, New York signed NYRB II goalkeeper Evan Louro to a MLS contract as a Homegrown. Louro became the eighth Homegrown to reach the first team in 2017. New York is tied for second with the LA Galaxy with eight Homegrown players on their first team roster. FC Dallas leads the league with nine. CONSISTENTLY GOOD The Red Bulls qualified for the postseason for the seventh-consecutive year in 2016, the longest stretch among major sports teams in the New York metro area. New York finished as the top seed in the Eastern Conference for the third time in four years with 57 points. New York achieved a 50-plus point season for the fifth straight year, a mark only three other MLS clubs have achieved. The LA Galaxy have the only other longest streak, with seven straight 50+ point campaigns. Since 2014, New York has accrued the second most points in the league (187), sitting just 10 points back of FC Dallas for the most. Hans Backe and Octavio Zambrano are tied for the overall lead with 41 regular season wins. New York Coaches - Career Wins Coach Wins 1. Hans Backe 41 1. Octavio Zambrano 41 2. Jesse Marsch 40 3. THE CREATOR Sacha Kljestan has made a big impact on the Red Bulls offense and has had his best years of soccer since coming to the club in 2015. In his first five seasons at Chivas USA (2006-10), Kljestan accrued 33 assists in 114 games. Since coming to the Red Bulls in 2015, he has tallied 40 assists in 79 games. Kljestan has wasted no time in 2017 under the assist column, recording six assists in 13 games. With an assist against D.C. to raise his Red Bull total to 37, Kljestan moved into sole possession for second place in club history, trailing Theirry Henry s club-leading 42. Kljestan s secondary assist on Alex Muyl s game-winning goal against Columbus made him the club s all-time leader in game-winning assists with 12, surpassing Theirry Henry. Kljestan recorded his 40th career assist as a Red Bull, becoming just the second player in franchise history to reach the milestone. Kljestan moved to within two assists of club-leader Thierry Henry. With 40 assists in 79 appearances, Kljestan is the club s all-time leader in game-winning assists (12), assists per-game (.52) and assists per 90 minutes (0.56). In 2016, Kljestan set a new club record for single-season assists with his 15th on August 21. The midfielder finished the regular season with 20 assists, becoming just the second player in league history to reach the 20-assist plateau. Kljestan, who tied the club record in 2015, broke the mark set by Eduardo Hurtado in 1998, and equaled by Thierry Henry in 2014. HOME-SWEET-HOME New York has already taken care of business in their two three-match homestands. The Red Bulls began with back-to-back 2-0 wins against D.C. United and Columbus and capped it off with a 2-1 victory over Chicago in their first three-game homestand. New York wrapped up their second three-match homestand with four points, defeating New England, 2-1 and tallying a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC. The Red Bulls have gained points in bunches when they are home for three games while head coach Jesse Marsch has been at the helm. New York has been at home for three-straight matches five times under Marsch and have earned at least four points in each homestand. In 2017, New York collected all nine potential points during its first three-match homestand. It was the second time under Marsch that the Red Bulls accomplished the feat. The Red Bulls have recorded 17 of their 20 points this season at Red Bull Arena and have outscored their opponents, 11-6. 6 NewYorkRedBulls.com 6

COLLEGE REUNION On Saturday, May 6, there was Georgetown reunion between New York and Philadelphia players. Alex Muyl and Union s Keegan Rosenberry and Josh Yaro played together at Georgetown from 2013 to 2015. Muyl, Rosenbery and Yaro were all starters for the Hoyas during the three-year span. During that three-year stretch, Muyl, Rosenberry and Yaro guided Georgetown to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, reaching the Sweet 16 all three times. The trio led Georgetown to quarterfinals in 2014, which was their best finish during the run. Before all three began there time at Georgetown, the NEW YORK RED BULLS vs. PHILADELPHIA UNION Hoyas reached the NCAA Tournament just four times beforehand (1994, 97, 2010, 12). Along with those three, Red Bulls Homegrowns Brandon Allen (2012-15) and Arun Basujelvic (2014-15) also attended Georgetown. MOTIVATED MUYL Alex Muyl, a Homegrown, has made the most of his time on the pitch this season, especially when he is placed into the starting XI. In two of the last eight matches, Muyl generated an early goal to give the Red Bulls back-to-back wins at home against D.C. and Columbus. Muyl scored in the 46th minute against D.C. and then in the 11th minute versus Columbus, both goals would stand as the eventual game-winner. When Muyl has been implemented into the starting lineup this season, New York is 5-2-2. MID-WEEK MATCHUPS The Red Bulls had its first of four mid-week matchups against Sporting Kansas City, falling 2-0 on Wednesday. New York has had its best fortunate at home in midweek games under head coach Jesse Marsch, owning a 4-0-1 mark with three clean sheets. The Red Bulls, however, have struggled on the road in mid-week matches under Marsch, tallying an 0-6-1 mark Despite the road woes in the mid-week, New York has only been held without a goal in two of previous seven games. BACK-TO-BACK ROAD TRIPS New York will embark on its third of four back-to-back road trips with Montreal (June 3) and then to Philadelphia (June18). New York wrapped up its second back-to-back road trip in the same week with Sporting KC on Wednesday and Philadelphia on Saturday. The Red Bulls fell short to both Sporting KC, 2-0 and Philadelphia, 3-0. The Red Bulls, unfortunately, did not come away with a point in either match. It was just the fourth time under head coach Jesse Marsch and second time this season that the team did not record a point during a stretch like this. Under Marsch, the Red Bulls are 5-11-6 when traveling for two matches or more. New York has come away with at least one point in seven of its 11 back-to-back roadtrips with Marsch at the helm. DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles has been a stalwart in net at Red Bull Arena since he came to the club in 2012. Of Robles s 43 career clean sheets, he has recorded 29 of them at Red Bull Arena. He has a career 1.05 goals-against average at home. Robles has continued his trend of blanking the opposition at home, as he tallied four shutouts at Red Bull Arena to begin 2017. It was the first time in club history that the Red Bulls did not allowed a goal through the first four games of the season at home. Robles allowed a goal for the first time at home against Chicago. He tallied 415 minutes of scoreless soccer at Red Bull Arena to begin the season. His record in 2016 was 588 minutes, which is the third-longest in MLS history, that spanned from April 24 to July 24. BWP MAKES HISTORY Bradley Wright-Phillips set new franchise records for career goals in MLS and across all competitions last season. He passed Juan Pablo Angel s mark across all competitions in one less game and 776 fewer minutes played. BWP has scored 75 goals in MLS regular season play, seven in the MLS playoffs and one in CCL to claim the top spot in franchise history. New York was 10-0-6 on the season when Wright-Phillips scored a goal in 2016. Wright-Phillips is off to a fast start for his all competitions totals, having scored in New York s first competitive match of the year, the first leg of the CCL quarterfinals with Vancouver. The forward has now tallied a goal in six of New York s last 13 matches during the MLS season. THAT S A LOT OF OFFENSE The New York Red Bulls recorded their 1,000th career MLS goal on April 1 against Houston when Bradley Wright-Phillips scored his second goal of the season in the 13th minute. New York became just the third club in MLS history to reach the milestone, joining the LA Galaxy and D.C. United. The Red Bulls achieved the feat in their 667th game as a club. Not only did the Red Bulls record 1,000 MLS goals, they joined the 1,000-1,000 MLS club. Along with the LA Galaxy and D.C. United, New York also became the third team in MLS history to record 1,000 MLS goals and 1,000 MLS assists. GOALS IN BUNCHES New York s offense seems to be kickstarting itself much like it did in 2016 and in the same fashion. The Red Bulls offense tallied three-straight two-goal performances en route to nine points at home during a three-match homestand. In the 2-0 win over D.C., New York s Alex Muyl quickly found the back of the net a minute into the second half. Bradley Wright-Phillips followed just 16 minutes later to double up the score. Against Columbus, Muyl, again, got the New York offense going with a strike in the 11th minute. Daniel Royer responded with his own goal off a penalty-kick attempt just 27 minutes later. The Red Bulls tallied their third consecutive two-goal performance to beat Chicago, 2-1. Bradley Wright-Phillips got the Red Bulls going with his fourth of the season in the 37th minute and teammate Kemar Lawrence tallied his first career game-winner 34 minutes later in 7 NewYorkRedBulls.com 7

United (18) has the most, while the L.A. Galaxy (14), Portland (14), and NYC FC (14) are also ahead of the Red Bulls. Fifteen players netted a goal during the 2015 regular season, six more than in 2014. Through the first 13 matches in 2017, New York has tallied four different goal scorers. Kemar Lawrence, Alex Muyl, Daniel Royer and Bradley Wright-Phillips have each found the back of the net for the Red Bulls to begin 2017. BWP HERE TO STAY The New York Red Bulls have signed two-time MLS Golden Boot Winner Bradley Wright-Phillips to a new, multi-year MLS contract, the club announced on March 29. With the new deal, Wright-Phillips will now occupy a Designated Player spot on the roster. The London native is the franchise s all-time leader in career goals in MLS (75) and across all competitions (83). He also holds franchise records for career hat tricks (4), multi-goal games (16) and game-winning goals (20). The London native joined New York in the Summer of 2013 as a trialist. In his first full season in 2014, Wright-Phillips won the MLS Golden Boot by tying the league s single-season scoring record with 27 goals. Wright-Phillips is the fourth player in league history to record three consecutive 15+ goal seasons, and netted another 24 last season to complete his pair of scoring titles. MARSCH ROUNDS OUT COACHING STAFF The New York Red Bulls announced that Bradley Carnell has been named as an assistant coach. The former South African international joined Jesse Marsch s staff at the end of March. Carnell, a native of Johannesburg, South Africa, most recently served as an assistant coach with the Orlando Pirates in South Africa s Premier Soccer League. As a player, the defender totaled over 300 professional appearances, mostly in the Bundesliga. Carnell s professional career started in 1993 with Wits University (now Bidvest Wits FC). The defender spent the majority of his career in Germany, with VfB Stuttgart, Kaizer Chiefs, Borussia Monchengladbach, Karlsruher SC and F.C. Hansa Rostock before finishing his career back in South Africa with Supersport United. Carnell also featured regularly for the South African national team, making 40 appearances for South Africa between 1997 and 2010. His international career is highlighted by three starts in the 2002 World Cup. KLJESTAN NAMED CAPTAIN Following the trade of Dax McCarty to the Chicago Fire, Sacha Kljestan was named captain by head coach Jesse Marsch. Kljestan is entering his 11th professional season, and third since returning to MLS with the Red Bulls after three and a half years playing for RSC Anderlecht in NEW YORK RED BULLS vs. PHILADELPHIA UNION Belgium. He had five multi-assist games, including two two-assist games against NYC FC. Bradley Wright-Phillips won his second Golden Boot in three seasons last year with 24 goals. BWP did not score from the penalty spot, making the feat that much more impressive. BWP made up for a slow start (no goals in first seven games) by netting 15 goals in the last 13 games of the season, and only being held scoreless twice in that span. Following a goal against Seattle, Wright-Phillips became the third fastest player to 70 goals in MLS history, behind Roy Lassiter (104 gms) and Robbie Keane (106). BWP earned his 70th in his 110th MLS appearance, against Seattle on 3/19. With an assist at D.C. on August 21, BWP became the eighth player in club history to record at least 15 goals and 15 assists in regular season play. Kljestan (1 G) and Grella (2 A) are on the verge of reaching that mark. Luis Robles set the MLS record for consecutive appearances, 142, on March 11 against Colorado. Robles is the franchise leader in wins (71), shutouts (43) and appearances in goal (152). Ryan Meara s start in the Open Cup on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 was the first time a New York goalie other than Luis Robles has played a competitive minute since the CONCACAF Champions League in 2014, when Meara started against Montreal on October 22. Four of Felipe s five goals last season came from outside the box. Per OPTA, he tied for the most goals from outside the box in MLS. New York s seven-goal performance against NYC FC set a new franchise record for goals in a game, and tied an MLS record for largest margin of victory. Bradley Wright-Phillips is the club s all-time goals leader in MLS (75) and across all competitions (82). BWP surpassed Thierry Henry s club record with 20 game-winning goals, the most in franchise history. UP NEXT New York will face rival NYCFC for the second time in a span of 10 days on Saturday, June 24. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on FOX. The match will also be carried on New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish. 9 NewYorkRedBulls.com 9
