STYLE AND APPEARANCE 9am Prompt Start (Ring 1) Lead reins welcome in any show class unless otherwise stated. All horses must be 4 years old or over. 1. RIDDEN TACK AND TURNOUT - Open to all. 2. BEGINNERS SHOWING - Any height and breed. Walk and trot only. This class is strictly designed for genuine beginners only, i.e. rider not ridden in showing classes before or young/novice horse/pony. If this class is entered you cannot compete in classes 3-16. Snaffle only and no spurs. 3. LEAD REIN STYLE AND APPEARANCE - Rider 9 years and under, pony not to exc. 12.2hh, snaffle bridles only, lead rein attached to noseband. 4. 23. NERVOUS AND NOVICE CLASS - For example, would another family member like to have a go at showing but not got the experience or confidence to ride on their own? They can either be led or have someone walk with them. Walk and trot ONLY.The rider must wear appropriate riding boots, jodhpurs and a hat. Jacket (optional) but must look smart. The rider must be a suitable height / weight for the horse / pony. No plaiting needed. NO SPURS. As this is a beginners class, the rider cannot enter any other Style and Appearance class. RULES FOR GAMES During all games: No whips or spurs. Snaffle only. Correct riding hat, with straps fastened, MUST be worn during all games classes. Correct footwear to be worn at all times NO TRAINERS. Leaders must be 14 years and over. A selection of 3 games will take place. Games will be selected at the judges' discretion. Rosettes for each race will be awarded accordingly. The total of the 3 games will be used to convert into points towards annual trophies. Lead reiners must compete all year on lead rein unless they wish to be non-competitive. All lead reins must be attached to the noseband. CLUB RULES All persons attending Springwood Riding Club do so at their own risk. The organizers / landowner cannot accept responsibility for any person, animal or property. ZERO TOLERANCE TO ABUSIVE AND/OR THREATENING BEHAVIOR to any animal or person on the show ground. Anyone found doing so will be asked to leave the ground and banned from future events by the committee. The Judges decision is FINAL in all respects. To qualify for end of season trophies you must be a full member and have competed in the same class a minimum of 4 times with the same horse/pony. (points cannot be awarded retrospectively for late membership). Whips not to exceed 30" in any class, except Dressage. Any class you are not eligible for you may enter non-competitively. Please notify when booking in ( no points will be awarded). Snaffle bridles are to include wilkie bits and hanging cheeks. All competitors to be a minimum of 3 years of age for any class. Maximum of 8 classes may be entered per horse/pony at any one show. Where age is relative to a class, competitors age is taken at 01 January 2017. All riders under the age of 18 must have a fastened current British standard riding hat and appropriate footwear. No trainers whilst mounted. If you are over 18 and would like to wear a beagle/bowler/top hat you do so at your own risk. WE STRONGLY ADVISE AND PREFER that everyone wears a correctly strapped British standard riding hat. Body protectors are allowed in any class WITHOUT being penalized. A competitor called by the judge will normally be given two minutes to present themselves, unless the judge is otherwise informed. It is the competitor's responsibility to arrive at a class on time. The organizers cannot be held responsible for classes which clash. No horse/pony under 4 years of age are permitted in any ridden class. No stallions with the exception of yearling colts allowed at club shows. All colts to be suitably bitted. Children 16 years and under must be accompanied by an adult whilst on the show ground The committee reserve the right to amalgamate or cancel a class if there are insufficient
entries. In line with the current DEFRA guidelines, all horses/ponies are to have a current passport available for inspection at any time. Where the height of a horse/pony is in dispute, a height certificate must be produced. Regardless of age, the rider must be a suitable height/weight for the horse/pony, including lead rein. Maximum of 4 jumping classes per horse/pony (including show jumping and working hunter) ALL HORSES/PONIES KNOWN TO KICK MUST WEAR A RED RIBBON AT THE TOP OF THEIR TAIL. Three consecutive strikes with the whip will result in disqualification. Competitors must warm up/exercise their horse/pony in the practice ring provided and not in car park or rings not in use. Trotting, cantering or lunging is not permitted in the walkways or car park. No spurs to be worn by competitors under 17 years of age and are not permitted in handy pony, games or any beginners classes. All junior competitors must wear a hard hat for all in hand classes. Hard hats are recommended for senior in hand competitors, but not compulsory. Dogs MUST be kept on leads at all times and all mess cleared up and disposed of in the bins provided - dog faeces are highly unpleasant as well as being a health hazard!! All entrances and walkways must be left clear to allow access for emergency vehicles. All horses/ponies and riders must have adequate third party insurance. Lame or unfit horses/ponies will be asked to retire from any class. Any complaints must be handed to the club in writing within 15 minutes of the event with a deposit of 20 which will be forfeited if the complaint is overruled following discussion at the next planned committee meeting. The use of excessive aids will not be tolerated. The Committees decision is final.
