Tours THE NORTHERN OHIO PGA JUNIOR TOUR The Northern Ohio PGA Junior Tour (Kenny Novak Championship) is a group of tournaments for boys and girls ages 11-12, 13-15, 16-19. The tournaments are held at various Northern Ohio sites. These events are designed to offer juniors of all skill levels the opportunity to compete and enjoy learning how to handle the competition of tournament play. A year-ending point list will determine qualifiers from each age group that will advance to the Championship held at Club Walden in Aurora, Ohio. Juniors will automatically qualify if they are the winner of one of the tournaments leading up to the championship. Junior must be able to average a score of 125 or below for eighteen holes to compete in the championship. Double points will be issued at the championship at Club Walden. Players must compete in the age division they would be in as of the Kenny Novak Championship at Club Walden. Player of the Year Points The top boys and girls finishers at each Junior Tour event will receive Player of the Year points based on their finish. Player of the Year points will be distributed as follows except for the Kenny Novak Championship where points will be doubled: Place Points 1 375.00 2 200.00 3 160.00 4 140.00 5 120.00 6 100.00 7 80.00 8 60.00 9 40.00 10 20.00 In the event of ties, points are added up and split. Tours Cont. THE NATIONAL JUNIOR PGA CHAMPIONSHIP The Junior PGA Championship is a national tour. The Northern Ohio PGA runs multiple qualifiers for boys and girls 13-15, and 16-18 that have not entered college by the National Junior PGA Championship date. Players will play in the age division they will be during the Junior PGA Championship. Players must live in Northern Ohio and be a member of the Northern Ohio PGA Junior Tours. Events are held at various sites in Northern Ohio. These events are designed to offer juniors of advanced skill levels the opportunity to compete and enjoy learning how to handle the competition of tournament play. The top finishers in each age division will be invited to advance to the NOPGA Junior PGA Championship Sectional. One boy and girl top finisher in the 13-18 age division will advance to the National PGA Finals. Every PGA Section will host its own qualifiers. To view the Junior PGA Championship rules, please go to www.pgajuniorsseries.com. To view Schedule www.thenorthernohiopga.com/junior-golf COLLEGIATE SERIES The Northern Ohio PGA Collegiate Preview is a series of tournaments designed for young men and young women ages 17-22. These events are designed to provide preparation for the college golf experience by conducting tournaments on more challenging golf courses and offering a higher level of competition. 6 P a g e THE NORTHERN OHIO PGA PUPS TOUR The Pups Tour is no longer a standalone tour; juniors ages 8 to 12 can now play nine holes in selected Northern Ohio PGA Junior Tour/Kenny Novak Championship events. In order for an 8-12 year old to play 18 holes in a Northern Ohio PGA Junior Tour/Kenny Novak Championship event, juniors must have a playing resume or letter of recommendation from an instructor and ability to play 18 holes in recommended Pace of Play time. Pups Tour events are designed to introduce young juniors to tournament golf. For many, this will be their first tournament experience. Players should have the maturity to be able to play on their own and possess intermediate or advance skills relative to their ages. In general, the Pups Tour is not meant for brand new golfers; players should be able to keep score by themselves. The first place finisher from each age division will be invited to advance to the Pups Tour Championship at Club Walden in Aurora, Ohio (Players must be able to break 60 for 9 holes to play in the Championship). Pups Tour Guidelines The Pups Tour will make an effort to standardize rules. However, some host sites have individual situations, which may supersede Pups Tour rules and guidelines. All participants will compete in the age division they will be on Championship date. Age Divisions Boys- 8-10, 11-12 Girls- 8-10, 11-12 Caddies Through experience, the Northern Ohio PGA Junior Golf Committee has learned that the tournaments for this age group have limited value without adult supervision. Caddies are asked to help: keep accurate score, supervise safety, courtesy, etiquette, speed of play, and to promote good sportsmanship. To view schedule www.thenorthernohiopga.com/junior-golf
