RACE INSTRUCTIONS ADTC & Yas Beach Aquathlon Please read these instructions carefully to ensure you are fully prepared on Race Day The Abu Dhabi Triathlon Club and Yas Beach are pleased to launch the first Sprint Aquathlon on 02 May 2014. The format of the event is a swim and then run, with four distances available depending on age and ability. If this is your first Aquathlon, we have a check list on the final page. This Aquathlon is a small social event for our growing triathlete community. We will be welcoming triathletes of all ages and registrations indicate a strong showing from our juniors. We are pleased to introduce our newest venue partner, Yas Beach, as well as the continued support from Yas Marina Circuit and Sport in Life who have helped to produce our fantastic club kit. We will have kit for sale at registration from sizes XXXS to adult. Please arrive early to ensure you do not miss the race briefing. The registration desk will open at 5:45am.
Timing Abu Dhabi Triathlon Club will provide a manual timing service and results will be posted online within 24 hours of the race finishing. If you have any queries or concerns with results please email admin@abudhabitriclub.com. Location Yas Beach is located on Yas Island. From Dubai or Abu Dhabi (via Saadiyat), take the Yas West entrance and follow the Tourist Drive past Ferrari World. After the hotels plaza turn right and follow the road to the end. From Abu Dhabi (via Yas Tunnel), take the left turn at the second traffic signals after the tunnel. Parking There is parking for 350 vehicles at Yas Beach. Please arrive early as the car park access will be restricted from 06:25am just before the Sprint and Super Sprint races commence. Club Sales The Triathlon Club will have the club kit for sale, including tri shirts, compression shorts, cycling tops and polo shirts. Sizes available range from XXXS to L. Please support the club and purchase some gear as we establish ourselves for an exciting next season!
Baggage Please note that there will be no secure baggage drop for this race, however your vehicles will be very close by. Food & Beverages Bringing your own Food & Beverages is not permitted inside Yas Beach, with the exception of race specific water bottles and nutrition. We will have plenty of water available. Toilets and Showers Toilets before and after the race are available on Yas Beach. There are also showers on the beach. Please bring a towel. Prizes Prizes and Trophy presentations will be held at 8.30am on the beach. There will be random spot prizes and trophies have been organised for the following categories: Sprint Male 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd Sprint Female 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd Junior Male 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd Super Sprint Male 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd Super Sprint Female 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd Junior Female 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd The Course The courses are described on the following pages. Please make sure you are familiar with the swim and run courses before race day.
Sprint: Beach start and then swim out to a single loop of the swim course. Into transition and out onto the foot paths for a two lap 2.5km run. Each turn around point will be clearly marked and there will be marshals on the course. SWIM COURSE RUN COURSE TWO LAPS
Super Sprint: Beach start and swim out to a single half-loop of the swim course. Into transition and out onto the foot paths for a single 2.5km lap run. There will be marshals on the course. SWIM COURSE RUN COURSE ONE LAP
Junior: Beach start and swim out to a single buoy and back for just under 200m. Into transition and out onto the foot paths for a single 1.5km run. The junior course will not cross any roads and is very safe. SWIM COURSE RUN COURSE
Transition The transition area is a short run along the beach and will be well marked. There will be a marshal at transition to assist in case you have any questions. Transition Aid Stations A water station providing Al Ain Water will be located at around 750m out from the start. It will be a warm morning and there will be plenty of water on the run course. Juniors will pass through once, Super Sprint twice and Sprint four times throughout the run. Finish After crossing the finish line you will be presented with a medal and able to relax on the beautiful Yas Beach.

ADTC AQUATHON Packing List Are you new to triathlons or aquathons!? Here is a list of mandatory and suggested equipment that will help you be at your best on race day! Here is a list of needed gear for the event: Mandatory: o Swim suit To reduce drag, tight swim suits are encouraged o Goggles Mirrored goggle will help filter the sun and reduce glare o Water bottle o Running shoes o Waterproof Sunscreen Application of sunscreen should be done 15 minutes prior to sun exposure for maximum protection o Shirt (for running) Can be the same as your swim suit, as long as torso is fully covered o Shorts (for running) boys- will be the same as swim shorts girls- you may swim in tight shorts that covers mid thigh, or bring a pair of shorts to put on over top of your swim suit o Swim Cap o Waiver Optional, but encouraged: o Hat & Sunglasses o Socks o Towel o Keep a towel at your transition spot to wipe the sand off your feet! o Foot dunk bucket Bring a bucket to fill with water to dip your feet in o Recovery snack Other points to remember Arrive early and attend the race briefing to learn about the course directions Bring extra water with you to remain hydrated prior to and after the event Eat what you normally eat on race day; don t do anything too different! Banana s are excellent pre-race fuel Get lots of sleep the night before you race Have fun & SMILE big when you cross the finish line!
