Check-in Procedures Bike check before entering Athletes Lounge Refer to 5.2 in competition rules - Handlebars - Wheels (non authorized UCI wheels rule) - Bike frame - Saddle positions (-5cm Men & -2cm Women)/ Random 25% Approved exceptions on ITU website: http://www.triathlon.org/about/downloads/category/rules Approval for the addition/modification of any equipment to the bike, MUST be obtained from the Race Referee up until 10 minutes after the end of the Athletes Briefing. Mechanic service available.

Check-in Procedures Athletes Lounge Uniform and gear check (name, country, logos, ITU logo, zippers, race caps) photos will be taken of each uniform. Wearing a different uniform during the race = DSQ Body marking check (both arms and both legs, 33 vs ) Swim cap distribution Timing chip distribution Leave your personal gear in the Athletes Lounge (use your bag drop sticker) Bags will be moved to the recovery area from the LOC

Pre-start Procedure

Pre-start Procedure Athletes Introduction 15 minutes before your start, you will be called to leave the Athletes Lounge, following the technical officials instructions, towards the Transition Area in front of the grandstands When you are introduced, jog to the swim start platform Quickly select your start position After selecting your position, stay behind the line Blocking more than one position = DSQ

Start Procedure Athletes in Position After selecting your position, stay behind the line The start can be given any time after the starter announces On Your Mark! Air Horn The race starts Athletes not moving forward from the start line = 15 second penalty in TA1

False Start Procedure False start with many athletes Several horn blasts Kayaks move in front of you Everyone goes back to his/her original start spot Valid start with early starters If a few athletes start before the horn and everyone else starts with the horn, the false starter(s) will receive a 15 second penalty in TA1. During the time penalty, the athlete(s) cannot touch any equipment.

Bike Course 1 lap of 13 km + 6 laps of 4,5 km = 40 km Ride through the venue and the Transition Area Flat, and technical in the access to the venue; be careful with this part Two Wheel Stations Team WS approximately 50 m after exiting transition, on the right side Neutral WS at the intersection, served twice Littering zones for the bike, after the neutral wheel station, on both directions Lap Counter: at the exit of the Transition Area Lapped athletes will be removed from the race. Also there is an overlapping scenario in case athletes don t get the turning point of the short laps, when the leaders are coming there for the first time

Post-race Procedures Photo Finish When you finish, keep moving through to the mixed-zone and recovery area For awards, dress up with race uniform or country clothes Ambush marketing rules apply Hats/visors are allowed on the awards ceremonies with maximum 1 sponsor logo having a maximum height of 4 cm and a total area of 20 cm 2 Prize money will be wire transferred to the athletes.

Ambush Marketing Rule Ambush marketing is defined as: Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and media photographers to acquire additional exposure for your sponsor product, apparel or brand. The consequence for this behavior is that the athlete will immediately forfeit their prize money for that event, if any. Please follow the ambush marketing rule

Post-race Procedures Anti-doping Control Photo ID is REQUIRED for every athlete that is selected for testing Team Medical Access Only accredited team medical personnel will be permitted to enter the medical tent, after receiving the ITU Medical Delegate s permission Each National Federation is permitted to have 1 team medical accreditation. Team doctors should register with the ITU Medical Delegate (Dr. Charl Carstens)

Coaches Areas Coaches accreditations will only be distributed to those coaches who s National Federations registered them through the on-line system They will have access to: The Athletes Lounge and Post-recovery Area Behind the start area Sea side media lane

Notes There will be no warming up on the bike course as the roads will be in use for other events / logistics purposes Anyone wishing to use a Go Pro must register this interest with the Race Referee immediately after the briefing, and agree to abide by the conditions applied. This includes the familiarisation and Race Littering zones 3 on bike course 3 on run course Can only litter in these zones

Coaches RUN ACCESS One coach per NF can have access to the elite run course between 15:15 and 15:45 on Saturday for measuring the course.
