4 Hd Flwhd 3 ENGLISH 064285 Flwhd 3 (visr plycarbnate) 064288 Flwhd 3 AC (visr acetate) 1. General The Flwhd 3 is designed t prtect the respiratry system and face against hazardus gases and particles. Use with a blwer device, with the filters fitted t the blwer device. The Flwhd 3 cnsists f a hd and a breathing hse. Air is drawn thrugh particle filters cnnected t the blwer, by an electrnically-cntrlled fan and led thrugh the breathing hse int the facepiece (airduct). Exhaled air exits thrugh an exhalatin valve fund in the lwer part f the hd. 2. Limitatins f use 2.1 The filtering device must nt be used if the envirnment and cntaminatin is unknwn. In case f dubt, islating respiratrs (air supply) which functin independently f the atmsphere must be used. 2.2 The filtering device must nt be used in cnfined spaces (e.g. cisterns, tanks) because f the risk f xygen deficiency r presence f heavy xygen-displacing gases (e.g. carbn dixide). 2.3 The filtering device may be used nly if the xygen cntent f the air is 18 23 vl.%. 2.4 Gas filters d nt prtect against particles. Similarly, particle filters d nt prvide prtectin against gases r vapurs. In case f dubt, use cmbined filters. 2.5 Nrmal filtering devices d nt prtect against certain gases such as CO (carbn mnxide), CO 2 (carbn dixide) and N 2 (nitrgen). 2.6 Particle filters are nly allwed fr single use if they are applied against radiactive agents r micr-rganisms (virus, bacteria, fungi and spres). 2.7 It is likely that adequate prtectin cannt be guaranteed if the user s beard, hair, spectacle frames r clthing intrude int the faceseal. 2.8 When a breathing prtectr is used in explsive atmspheres, please fllw the instructins given fr such areas. The use f Flwhd 3 is permitted when cnnected t an intrinsically safe (ex) blwer device. 2.9 The blwer must be running while using the respiratr. If the blwer turns ff by accident, the device ceases t functin as a respiratr, and carbn dixide levels may instantly rise. This is cnsidered an abnrmal situatin. 2.10 At a very intense wrking pace, the pressure in the facepiece can change int negative pressure at peak inhalatin. 2.11 Prtectin levels may be reduced if wind speed exceeds 2 m/s. 2.12 Recmmended peratin cnditins -10 C...+50 C, relative humidity (RH) under 75 %. 2.13 Filters must nt be fitted directly t the the face shield r breathing hse. Markings Visr frame Visr PSP pren166 48B CE x PSP 18B r 1FE PSP manufacturer pren166 cnfrms t Eurpean standard x shade 1 ptical class 4 liquid splashes B, F B=medium energy impact r F=lw energy impact CE CE mark 0121 ntified bdy If the symbls are nt cmmn t bth the visr and the visr frame, then the cmplete assembly has the lwer level f prtectin.

5 3. Start-up See Instructins fr Use f the filter and blwer device t be used. Check intactness f hd/faceseal and breathing hse. Check that there are n gaps between the visr and the visr frame. Check that the hd/faceseal is crrectly affixed t the visr frame at all pints. Fix the breathing hse f the hd tightly t the blwer device. Screw the filters tightly t the blwer device. Dn the blwer device, then check adequate air flw (see Instructins fr Use f the blwer unit). Remve the prtective film frm the visr. Lsen the headband using the ratchet knb (handwheel), and dn the hd. Slip the faceseal under the chin (draw at the lp). Tighten the ratchet knb s that the head harness fits cmfrtably ver the frehead. It may be necessary t adjust the crwn strap t psitin the visr t the crrect height. Pull the hd back s that it fits securely under the chin and arund the cheeks. The faceseal shall fit abve the ears and under the ratchet knb. The breathing hse trails freely dwn the back and is nt kinked r lped and nt likely t snag. 4. Maintenance and strage Stre prtected frm direct sunlight, at -10 C...+50 C and relative humidity (RH) under 75 %. Clean with a damp clth r spnge, using lukewarm water and mild detergent (neutral, ph 6-8) (e.g. washing-up liquid) (be careful nt t scratch the visr). Allw t dry. TriGene TM wipes may be used fr disinfecin. D nt use slvents (e.g. acetne, turpentine), ht water r bleaching agents (perbrate, percarbnate). Never clean with cmpressed air r cmpressed water. Check intactness f hd, visr and hse, and replace damaged items. Recmmend replacement f visr after 2 years if in every day use. Fr ccasinal use we wuld anticipate a service life 5 years, prviding the crrect maintenance and strage prcedures are fllwed. Only use riginal spare parts. Replacing the breathing hse Unscrew the hse frm the airduct. Screw in the new hse ensuring that the fabric is trapped between the hse end and the air duct. Replacing the visr Wrking frm the rear f the face shield, use the finger tips t lever the back edge f the visr away frm the lugs, then push the visr frward. Fit a new visr and snap it ver the fixing lugs. Check that the visr presses firmly against the visr frame. Replacing the faceseal Unscrew the hse frm the airduct, remve the thumb nuts, washers and pivt stp (screws and supprt plate). Pull the faceseal frm the visr frame and ratchet knb, and release the elastic lps frm the crwn straps. Align the new faceseal pull tab with the bttm (centre) f the visr frame, and attach evenly t the velcr all the way arund. Check that the seal passes under the side washers and is lcated under the ratchet knb. Hk the elastic lps ver the crwn straps. Screw in the hse ensuring that the fabric is trapped between the hse end and the air duct. Tighten the thumb nuts s that the faceseal traps under the washers.

6 Replacing the exhalatin valve Detach the valve cver and remve the disc. Insert a new disc ensuring that it lies flat n the seat. Align the valve cver with the slts and snap it int place. Replacing the head harness Unscrew the hse frm the airduct and free the faceseal frm the visr frame. Remve the head harness frm the faceseal. Open the crwn strap t free the elastic lps. Pass the crwn straps f the new harness thrugh the elastic lps f the faceseal, and insert the harness int the faceseal. Align the hles in the harness, visr frame and faceseal. Fit thumb nuts, washers, screws and supprt plate. Fit the faceseal ver the ratchet knb. Screw in the hse ensuring that the fabric is trapped between the hse end and the air duct. 5. Dispsal A very cntaminated hd as well as used filters are special refuse and shall be dispsed f accrding t the filtered substances (gases r particles). 6. Australia and New Zealand Fr cmplete natinal requirements, please refer t the standard AS/NZS1715:09, Use & Maintenance f Respiratry Prducts. 7.
