The academy division is designed for inexperienced riders who are to be judged on their basic riding skills. Horses are to be school or academy type horses. Riders/drivers may not cross enter in any other classes and must have only shown in academy classes at other shows. No riding suits allowed and only jodhpur pants, boots, and vests are suggested. Helmets are encouraged. Horses may cross enter in other classes at the show with a rider that is not in the academy division. Academy classes will be split if more than 8 entries. It is the responsibility of the trainer or instructor to provide horses for their riders. Note: Riders showing in walk and trot academy classes cannot enter in a canter class; however, the horse may enter in a canter class with a different rider. Closing date for Stall Reservations and Entries is September 26, 2016 Horse Show Management cannot guarantee stalls after the closing date. Any entry made during this time will be charged an emergency entry fee.

Morristown Charity Horse Show Rules This show will be operated in the spirit of USEF rules. 1. Stalls & Stall Reservations Stalls & tack stalls are $80 each if reserved and paid for by September 26. After September 26, stalls will be $90 each. NO STALLS WILL BE AS- SIGNED UNTIL THE FEE IS PAID. Note No open checks or phone calls will be accepted for stall reservations. If any stalls are remaining when the show begins, they may be rented for $30 per day. Any horses staying overnight in a day stall will be charged for two (2) days. Early arrivals on Wednesday, October 5 or before will be charged $10 per stall. No refunds on stalls unless the stall is re-rented. Bedding is not provided for stalls. See below regarding purchase of bedding. Stall reservations are to be made on the entry form and should be mailed along with payment to Janie Hamilton, 839 Ferry Road, Hixson, TN 37343. 2. Bedding Bedding will be available for purchase at $7.50 per bag between the hours of 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m., Thursday Saturday or it may be preordered on the entry form. Please check preordered bedding upon arrival and report any discrepancies before opening bags. Neither the horse show nor Expo Center will be responsible for any mistakes in bedding orders that are not reported immediately. Bedding may not be brought in by an outside vendor. Persons may bring bedding, but it must be in their vehicle (please read the back of the entry form). 3. Entries Entries close September 26 and must be postmarked by this date. Any entries postmarked after September 26 or received at the show will be considered post entries and must pay a $10 per horse post entry fee. Academy riders and ETSA Harvest Breeders Jackpot entries are exempt from the post entry fee. The entry office will close one (1) hour before each session EXCEPT for Futurity and Jackpot entries will close two (2) hours before start of session. Anyone needing to make an emergency entry after the office has closed will be assessed a $25 emergency entry fee. 4. Open Checks The Horse Show requires that a SIGNED open check be left with the entry office for all tab accounts. No back numbers will be issued without an open check. It is the responsibility of each exhibitor or agent to settle his or her account by the end of the show. Anyone failing to settle their account will relinquish the right for adjustments. It will be to your advantage to check over your account before filling in your check. 5. Returned Checks All returned checks will be charged a $50 return check fee. 6. Refunding of Fees A full refund will be given to anyone who cancels their entries before the closing date of September 26. After the closing date, stall refunds will be given only if the stalls are re-rented. Entry fees will be refunded to anyone who cancels up to one (1) hour prior to the start of the session they are showing in. Once the office has closed, there will be no refunding of entry fees. If an entry misses a class, the fee will not be refunded. 7. American Saddlebred Horse Breeders Futurity of Tennessee- ASHB Futurity nominated horses only - Must be submitted on horse show entry form by closing date. Note: Weanlings and yearlings to be shown barefoot. USEF Rules prevail. See Chapter SB Saddlebred Horse Division SB 144. Weanlings must have applied for registration and DNA submitted. Pending registration certificates are acceptable. Payouts are based on percentage and no entry fees are paid to the show. MCHS officials are not in authority to handle protests filed in this division. All questions and protests should be addressed to the ASHB of Tennessee Futurity officer/officials. East Tennessee Saddlebred Association Harvest Breeders Jackpot Entry is open to registered weanlings, yearlings, and two year olds in hand. The entry fee is $40.00. Entry 1 13. ASB Saddle and Bridle Hunter Country Pleasure Classic SM - Entry Fee $20 - Friday Noon 7. ASB Country Pleasure Driving - Entry Fee $20 - Friday Noon 11 fees will not be refunded after the close of entries. Entries close 2 hours prior to the beginning of the show. Order of go will be posted thirty (30) minutes prior to the beginning of the show. All weanlings and yearlings to be shown barefoot. 9. Warm Up Ring The next scheduled class has priority for warm up ring use. 10. Holds Holds will be limited to two (2) minutes and will only be for rider/horse (rider or horse showing back to back) conflicts. No holds for trainer conflicts. The rider s name and back number must be filled out on a hold card and left at the entry office one (1) hour before the show begins. 11. Qualification for Championship Classes All horses must qualify for championship classes in an appropriate qualifying class. Stake classes do not qualify for any championship. 12. No Canter Classes Riders showing in classes 25 & 56 cannot cross enter into a class that canters, however the horse may enter a canter class with another rider. Riders showing in classes 35 & 87 may enter classes that canter. 13. Addition of Classes $250.00 will be charged to add a qualifying class and $300.00 for a stake/championship class before the closing date. $500.00 will be charged to add any class after the closing date. 14. Discipline Exhibitors are notified that any act of discourtesy or disobedience to the judge or officials, on the part of the owner, manager, rider, driver, or groom shall be grounds to disqualify the horse, and the owner shall forfeit his entry fee and other fees. In the case of any horse being disqualified, the winner of the next succeeding prize in that class shall take the prize that had been awarded to such disqualified horse. 15. Protests - Protests must be filed in writing with the show secretary and must accompany a $100 deposit. If the protest is sustained by the Show Committee, the deposit must be returned to the protester; if it is not sustained by the Show Committee, the deposit will accrue to the Morristown Charity Horse Show. The ruling of the Show Committee shall be final. 16. Attention Getting Devices Items such as tape measures, blow horns, split bamboo poles, whistles, or whips longer than six (6) feet that would alter the performance of a horse or disturb another horse while performing in a class, will not be allowed at the entrance of the show ring, ringside, or in the warm up rings. Explosives, fire extinguishers, and laser light beams used as training aids are prohibited on the show grounds before, during, or after the show. All such items will be confiscated. 17. Trailer and Vehicle Parking All trailers and vehicles must be parked in designated areas. Absolutely no trailer parking will be permitted in the barn area. Fire codes dictate that fire lanes be left open on all sides of the barns and warm up rings in case of emergency. 18. Campers Camper hookups are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Spaces have electric and water. The cost is $100 for Thursday-Sunday and $35 per day for additional days or fewer days. (See page 7) You must check in with the show office to pick up a camper permit. 19. Alcoholic Beverages Prohibited The possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages on the Walters State Great Smoky Mountains Expo Center grounds is prohibited. 20. The Show Committee reserves the right to decline any entry and to return any entry fee and/or stable fee without being liable for compensation. Should any question arise that is not provided for in the foregoing rules, the same shall be referred to the Show Committee whose decision shall be final.
