Thank you to all the Country Trails families who volunteered their time and purchased books to support our school. Profits from the fair not only helped supply materials for our COUGAR READING MADNESS program, but also brought over 800 new books to our new teachers classrooms. We are also very excited to report that over 2,100 books are in the hands of our students, which translates to 378,000 minutes of reading for our Country Trails Cougars! Thank you for your support! Mother/Daughter Fall Fun The Mother/Daughter event this year was a great success! We had almost 300 people come out to Randall Oaks to enjoy hayrides, cider, donuts and pumpkin decorating on a spectacular fall day! Don t forget to print your keepsake photos!! Special thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this a great event! Don t forget to stop by the South Elgin Chipotle on Thursday, November 17 th between 4:00pm and 8:00pm to grab dinner for the family and earn Country Trails 50% of the proceeds! Page 4 Country Trails PTO Box Tops for Education Fall Winners All the Box Tops have been cut, counted and carted (off to the post office, that is) and we re happy to announce that we have surpassed the halfway mark to our goal of $2,000 for the year! As for the winners of the contest, let s give Merissa Tosello in Mrs. Johnson s 4 th grade class a hand for submitting the most Box Tops individually! Box Top Buddy will be spending time with Mrs. Schultz s 3 rd grade class for submitting the most as a class! He will hang out until the next contest is announced. Merissa and the 3 rd grade class will all receive a little something for their efforts! Way to go - awesome job! Keep clipping those Box Tops! Please note that they do expire and cannot be submitted so if you have a bunch that will expire at any time before February, please turn them into the office and contact Nancy Morden at ncjmorden@att.net to pick up and process prior to expiring. Please make sure your child s name, grade and teacher are on the bag/envelope/sheets so they get proper credit! Fall Labels for Education Contest - Reminder The Fall Labels for Education Contest runs from October 18 th - November 18 th. In order for labels to apply for the contest, they must be cut out and placed in a labeled envelope with the student's name, grade, and teacher. Additionally, please make sure the Labels for Education logo is on each turned in label.* Prizes will be awarded to the winning class and to the student that turn in the most labels. *New info from Labels for Education!!: As of August 1, 2016, only UPCs with the Labels for Education logo will be accepted and redeemed for points. Therefore, labels without the Labels for Education logo will not be counted for the contest. Please make sure to check for the logo. Thank you!!! SCHOOL SPIRIT TASTES GREAT Make dinner a selfless act by joining us for a fundraiser to support Country Trails Grade School PTO. Sunday, May 7, 2017 5K Run/Walk @ 8:00 am Kids 1 Mile Fun Run @ 9:00 am Country Trails PTO is hosting a Ferocious 5K and the best part is your school can earn money too! Please join us for our Third Annual Ferocious 5K Run/Walk to help raise funds for D301 youth programs, school supplies, and equipment. Participants with family members attending any D301 school will raise money for that school, as the Country Trails PTO will donate a portion of the registration fee to each respective school s PTO! Enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of nature as our 3.1 mile course takes you through the wildflower and tree-lined winding paths and streets of the Highland Woods Subdivision. This course offers some slight uphill challenges not all that ferocious in addition to some downhill relief with plenty of flat sections! Whether you run or walk, we hope you will find it a peaceful and visually relaxing journey. This event is for all D301 families and the general public. Please invite your family, friends, and neighbors anyone who wants to enjoy the race! Not a runner or walker? You can still help. Visit our website to make a donation or become a volunteer. Girls on the Run Chicago COACHES: YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A RUNNER! If you are interested and available to become a certified coach our team is looking for 2-3 more certified coaches to allow for coaches to commit to just one day a week. Please fill out the google doc indicating your interest and we ll keep you updated as training session dates are announced. The more coaches we have the more girls we can accommodate in our program! HELPER/ VOLUNTEERS: We are also looking for volunteers to help out at our practices! YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A RUNNER! Helping with the snack, running the warm-ups and activities, and either counting laps for the girls or running along side them and encouraging their efforts! No amount of time is too small!
