GREETINGS FROM OUR FOUNDER Dear Friends, Thank you so much for your interest in SKATEYOGI Summer Camp. SKATEYOGI was born in 2013 when I was inspired to teach a skateboarding class to adult beginners at a yoga studio (hence the name). We are delighted to now have our very own space in the heart of Brooklyn at 140 Empire Blvd (between Franklin & Bedford Aves) just a few minutes from Prospect Park. Our air-conditioned indoor skate facility is fully equipped with movable ramps and obstacles as well as skateboards, safety gear and helmets for complimentary use by our students. The attached skate shop doubles as a learning laboratory during our afterschool and camp programs. Everyone here at SKATEYOGI is looking forward to skating and learning with you soon! Namaskate! Kevin F Banahan Founder/Executive Director kevin@skateyogi.com
SKATEYOGI S CORE PRINCIPLES 1. HIGH FIVE! SKATEYOGI starts and ends our class with high fives to show each other s respect and celebrate the moment we got to share influenced by a zen concept known as Ichi-go Ichi-e: Treasure every encounter, for it will never recur. 2. CHECK YOUR EGO AT THE DOOR. SKATEYOGI offers an ego-free zone for all our students regardless of their levels. 3. HAVE FUN! BE CREATIVE! SKATEYOGI encourages our students to think up something fun and break the rules. It s all skateboarding! 4. IT S NEVER TOO LATE TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW. SKATEYOGI believes that there is no such thing as being too old for something, certainly not for skateboarding. 5. NAMASKATE! Namaste is a phrase/gesture of pure compassion and recognition: that we bow to the true self inside each one of us. SKATEYOGI encourages skateboarders to be respectful and thankful to each other and the surrounding community.
