Improved into marginal room and was steadied and dipped from heels at the 400m. Held up for clear running from on straightening until angled outwards at the 200m. Rider was shown a section of the patrol film and questioned regarding the mare dipping from heels at the 400m. Jockey Meeres explained that a marginal run had presented at this point, however, when attempting to steady his mount, the reins had slipped through his fingers resulting in the mare improving its position between runners where there was no room to do so. The reins on the bridle were inspected by Stewards and it was ascertained that due to the very hot days leading up to today, it had resulted in the rubber on the reins deteriorating, however, the bridle seemed in good order when Trainer H. Williams fit it on the mare. Stewards advised Mr Williams that he is to ensure he thoroughly inspects his race day gear in future, to ensure a repetition of this incident or similar does not occur. HANDEL IT (Shelby Bowtell) Rider advised the filly felt short in its action over the final 200m. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 2: GERALDTON GUARDIAN MAIDEN - 1113M The start of this race was delayed approximately 4 minutes due to two horses proving very difficult to load.
