D is for Dirt Biking A book about dirt bikes and motocross! From a-z all about dirt biking and motocross stuff! By: Riley Gray
A is for A.T.G.A.T.T A.T.G.A.T.T stands for all the gear all the time. There are LOTS of gear for dirt bikes, there is a chest protector, boots, neck brace, helmet and then there's accessories like goggles, jersey, pants and gloves. All motocross racers have to wear all the gear. B is for blower This speedy gadget is like a supercharge. A blower lets more air past the carburetors witch makes more power! So that s why motocross racers put them in their bike.
C is for class A class is a race with all the same sized bikes racing. There are lots of different motocross classes. There are also beginners, women's, amateur and pro classes. There are 50cc, 65cc,85cc,125cc, 250cc. D is for dirt bike A dirt bike is used for lot s of different things. They re used for racing climbing things and FUN! They are fast and able to climb and hit big jumps. There are two types of dirt bikes, there s a two stoke and a four stroke. There's only two types of dirt bikes but lot s of kinds and sizes though.
E is for engine If you didn t have an engine in your dirt bike you wont be going to far. The engine in a dirt bike is the thing that makes the bike run. The engine is what creates power witch makes the tires move so you can rip around the trails and with friends! F is for fail If you don t fail driving your dirt bike your not driving it hard enough. Lots of people fail driving dirt bikes but it doesn t mean you re a bad driver. People that are professional motocross riders fail hitting a jump or something and there professionals.
G is for goosing it He's just goosing it on that berm! Goosing it is a Canadian expression used mostly at a motocross track. Its used when someone is riding something hard. Next time you see someone driving something hard you can say he's goosing it. H is for Husqvarna What do power saws, sewing machines, muskets and motorcycles have in common? They are all made by a company named after a town in Sweden. The company is called Husqvarna. The very first thing Husqvarna made was the musket in 1680. The company Husqvarna was sold to BMW for 93 million euros.
I is for Ironbutt 50cc Bring some gas for this race, you'll need it! The ironbutt 50cc is one of the biggest motocross races. Its a 300 mile race That goes from Jacksonville, Florida to Sandiego, California. The only way you complete the race is if you finish In 50 hours. So fuel up and go get ready for the next time the ironbutt 50cc is starting. J is for just given r Just Given r is a Canadian expression that is used a lot in motocross language. Its used a lot at the motocross tracks. Just given r means your riding hard. So next time your watching a motocross race you'll know what they mean.
K is for Kawasaki 1962, The Kawasaki dirt bikes were made! The first bike Kawasaki made was a 250cc. Now they make 5 different sizes of Kawasaki's there's a kx65, kx100, kx85, kx250 and klx450. They are made in japan, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand. L is for laid it down Be careful when your just given r around a turn. If you are id slow down before you lay it down. Laying a bike over is just laying the bike over on its side, Its not a crash. Laying the bike over is probably the safest way out.
M is for motocross Hang on tight while you go on a wild ride through the motocross world. Motocross has lots of different types of racing, some are really crazy but probably fun like side jeeps. There are lots others like freestyle, supermoto, atv/quad, pitbikes/minibikes. Motocross was first evolved in the U.K. the first quarterly trial was in 1909 on an outdoor track. N is for Nate adams Nate Adams is a professional freestyler! He was born in phoenix Arizona march 29 th 1984. In 2009 Nate Adams became the x- fighter champion and again in 2010. Nate adams started riding at an early age, he was only 8 years old
O is for oil Oil is a substance that cools all moving parts in the dirt bike. It also keeps stuff from rusting like the chain, sprocket, bearings and stuff in the engine. If you have a tow stroke you also have to put oil in the gas. P is for Travis pastrana Travis pastrana is an American stock car, rally driver, motocross rider and an extreme sports competitor! Travis pastrana was born October 8 th, 1983. He's a professional motorsport competitor and stunt performer. He has won several gold medals and championships from the x-games including supercross, motocross, freestyle motocross and rally racing. Travis pastrana is a legend!
Q is for quick release A quick release is a clamping mechanism used to hold on wheels and sometimes used to secure seatposts in the frame. They can also be good for removing wheels for storage or flat-tire repair. You'll also find quick releases on handlebars on some folding bicycles. R is for racing Dirt bike racing started in the 1909. Lots of things have changed sense 1909 with dirt bikes. In the 1930s the sport grew popular, bigger bikes were get made yearly. The bikes now are built a lot tougher, faster and there better quality.
S is for Steven roman 2014 Steve roman came third in a beach race in franva called the touquet enduro. Steve roman is a motocross racer. He was born December 29, 1979 in Belgium. Steve won 2 championships one in 2003 and 2007. Steve roman did good until 2011 when he got injured and ended his GP career. T is for tear offs Tear offs are plastic slivers shaped like dirt bike goggles that go on the lenses. There for, when the goggles get dirty you can just rip one of the plastic slivers and then you can see again. They come in handy when you cant see for sure!
U is for undersquare An undersquare is like boring out your dirt bike. The undersquare makes more horsepower less torque. Some motocross racers use them. More horsepower is good because you go faster. V is for Vince Friese Vince friese s home town is cape girddeau, Mo, USA and was born October 19 th, 1990. Friese didn t have a good rookie year but in 2009 he finished 17 th overall in in the east sx lites division and 22 nd in the outdoor championship. 2010 was his best year, he got 14 th overall in the lites and 17 th in the outdoor national championship.
W is for wheelie A wheelie is when you ride on your back tire. Its something that lots of people do. Stunt dirt bikers always are on one wheel. Doug Domokos has the worlds longest wheelie at 145 miles long. X is for x-games The x-games were founded in 1995. The x- games have lots of different things in it like there motocross, sledding, skiing, snowmobiling, snowboarding, bicycling and lots of other stuff too. Participants compete to win bronze, silver, and gold medals, and also prize money!
Y is for Yamaha Yamaha was found july 1 st, 1955. Yamaha makes lots of different types of dirt bikes. There's a yz450fx,yz250fx,yz 250,yz125 and a yz85. If it has just a yz it s a two stroke and if it has either a fx or and f on the end it s a four stroke. Yamaha dirt bikes are made in luata, shizuoka and japan. Z is for Zook Zook is another name for Suzuki. Suzuki is a type of dirt bike. The creator of a Suzuki is michie Suzuki and the first Suzuki was made in 1909. Suzuki is made in hamamtsu, shizvoka and japan. Suzuki only makes a few sizes of dirt bikes, there's and rm85,rm250,rmz250 and a rmz450. Also a famous dirt bike rider, Travis Pastrana only drives Suzuki dirt bikes!
