JUNIOR LIFE SAVER OF THE YEAR 2010/11 Nomination Process & Program The Director of Youth & Membership, Glenn Langley invites you to nominate your outstanding Under 14 club members for Surf Life Saving Sydney Northern Beaches Junior Life Saver of the Year 2010/11. This season the SLSSNB Junior Life Saver of the Year program will aim to Support and develop a team of confident future leaders for their club, the Branch, State and Country. The program will involve the finalists taking part in a Lifesaving Workshop Fun day as well as giving them the opportunity to participate in many Branch organised events. WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY FOR BINNA BURRA LODGE FACILITIES I acknowledge and agree that Binna Burra Lodge Limited ACN 009 661 938 has activities organized and conducted by Binna Burra Lodge or has contracts with other companies which organise, conduct and use Binna Burra Lodge s facilities. In consideration for Binna Burra Lodge allowing me to use their accommodation and related facilities on lands owned by Binna Burra Lodge or elsewhere and participate in activities conducted by them, I agree to be bound by this Waiver and Release of Liability. The Development Camp is about involving branch finalists in an experience that is rewarding, informative and fun! Interviews for the Junior Lifesaver of the Year award will be held during the camp, with the male and female winner being announced at the 2011 State Age Championships. 2.3.1 Provide pathways and opportunities for members of all ages to develop skills and qualifiers. Clubs and branches to promote the Junior Lifesaver of the Year award to eligible members. Branches to submit nominations to SLSNSW by Monday 7 February 2011. Surf Life Saving NSW is seeking nominations for the 2011 Junior Lifesaver of the Year award. The award is a way for clubs and branches to recognise their U14 member s achievements in surf lifesaving and the contributions they have made to surf life saving at all levels and within the community. This Development Camp brings together the branch winners of the Junior Lifesaver of the Year award. The focus of this camp is a combination of fun and learning through experience. Participants will be involved in physical challenges, information sharing in presentations and discussions, activities and scenario s which require leadership, teamwork and communication. All U14 members who believe they could be the next Junior Lifesaver of the Year should apply through their Branch. The male and female Branch winners will then progress to the SLSNSW Development Camp and interview process to determine the state winners. The nomination process Branches are invited to submit one female and one male nomination for the 2011 SLSNSW Junior Lifesaver of the Year award. Nominations must include the attached application form, medical and consent information, and application questions. Resumes will not be considered by the judges, and should not be included with nominations. Nominees and clubs should seek further information from their branch as to any additional requirements for branch submission of nominations. All nominations are to be endorsed by branches and returned to Surf Life Saving NSW by Monday 7 February 2011. Surf Life Saving New South Wales
Nominees must have completed their Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) at the time of the Development Camp to be eligible for the Junior Lifesaver of the Year award. Successful applicants will be advised of their placing as finalists and are then required to attend the Junior Lifesaver of the Year Development Camp, 8-10 March 2011, at Binna Burra Mountain Lodge in the Lamington National Park. All finalists will be required for the award presentation at the State Age Championships on Sunday 13 March 2011, at Kingscliff, where the male and female winners will be announced. Best of all, it is an opportunity to meet young surf lifesavers from across New South Wales and be part of a fun experience. The camp will be held at Binna Burra Mountain Lodge, 1.5 hours drive from Coolangatta airport. During the Camp, participants will be interviewed by a judging panel of experienced surf lifesavers, assessing individuals on their merit to become the Junior Lifesaver of the Year. Note: the Development Camp is wholly subsidised by Surf Life Saving NSW and transport to and from the program will be covered by SLSNSW. Greater information on transport arrangement will be available once Branch finalists have been selected and provided to SLSNSW.
