TRANSAS FISHING SIMULATOR

TRANSAS FISHING SIMULATOR The Transas fishing simulator, based on the company s well-known Navi-Trainer Professional, expands the capabilities of the original simulator with the addition of advanced fishing functionality. A highly realistic model of the trawl system, an advanced model of fish behaviour under influence of vessel, trawl and environmental conditions, modern acoustic fish finding and trawl s all allow the creation of exercises and training in different aspects of fishing operations. All aspects of training ing, long lining or purse seining in good or poor weather conditions, including currents, waves, strong squally winds etc. ing and manoeuvering in the vicinity of other ships also involved in fishing operations Setting the trawl for the required horizon and keeping it steady Appropriate calibrating and use of acoustic s for detecting position and depth Tracing and chasing the fish and manoeuvering the ship to achieve the best position of fishing gear s regarding the shoal and the sea bottom Simulator components Training Goals Assess knowledge of deck officers, trawl masters and deck crews for obtaining appropriate licences Training the cadets of fishing academies and courses in basic fishing processes, including vessel manoeuvering and handling the acoustic s Training experienced crews before forthcoming voyages in order to refresh their knowledge Compliance The navigational simulator is developed in line with requirements of STCW 95 convention, IMO model courses and Code of Safety for Fishermen and Fishing Vessels (2005). Transas NTPRO simulator is also certified by the Russian Ministry of Transport and DNV classification society. model Model of fish behaviour Simulation of acoustic fish finding and trawl s Vessel library Area library 2 3

TRANSAS FISHING SIMULATOR Full Mission Simulator configuration options Flexible solutions Depending on training needs a full mission simulator configuration can vary. Three basic options include a fishing deck and navigation part which can be expanded or reduced according to customer requirements. Computer based training Individual in-house or distance learning, equipment familiarisation, knowledge updates, self-examination and competence assessment Visual (navigation) Visual (fishing deck) Visual (navigation) Conning Networked classes Visual (fishing deck) Radar/Conning /ECDIS Interactive group exercises under instructor supervision Training of both fishing deck and navigational personnel. Up to five trainees can study simultaneously. Visual (fishing/navigation deck) Responding to fishing s is in focus, but mastering of common navigational skills is restricted. Two trainees can study simultaneously. Full mission simulator Final training and certification Conning The most convenient option for familiarisation tasks and individual training, both acoustic s and ship handling console are at hand. 4 5

TRANSAS FISHING SIMULATOR Vessel library Realistic bottom, pelagic, purse seine and long lining trawl system modelling The system simulates the correct behaviour of the trawl under environmental influence, such as currents and waves. Trainees can monitor trawl position and load which affects more than 100 elements of the trawl system. The trawl can be calibrated by the trainee, who can set parameters for the trawl doors, trawl wires and trawl itself depending on the purpose of an exercise and type of fish pursued. Other types of trawl may be developed by request. Basic scope of supply includes four fishing vessel models: Small shrimper refrigerator Laukuva (length: 35.68 m; draught: 2.87 m; capacity: 590 kw) Fishing trawler-refrigerator (supertrawler) Moonzund (length: 120.43 m; draught: 4.58 m; apacity: 2 x 2650 kw) Mid-size fishing trawler-refrigerator Nevelsk (length: 64.05 m; draught: 4,58 m; capacity: 2460 kw) Mid-size fishing trawler refrigerator Andrey Smirnov (length: 53,70 m; draught: 3,68 m; capacity: 970 kw) Highly authentic modelling of the fish behaviour The simulated fish shoals have a fear response to vessel and trawl, the ability to speed up and run from the fishing gear, and also react to the acoustic equipment. Fish shoals can be set by the Instructor with different variable parameters, such as standard and maximum speed, depth, and routes with different depths on each leg. Shoals can also consist of several groups, acting in response to fear in different ways. Depending on the training goals, a shoal can be presented either as a relatively simple object and as an object which imitates real fish behaviour very precisely. Instructor can adjust fish shoal behaviour: Fish shoal type and shape Shoal density and size Fear reaction of a shoal and its response to such irritants as moving vessel and trawl Shoal route and motion parameters of this shoal: speed (both cruising and maximum speed), boundaries of horizon change speed Split a shoal into several groups that respond to external stimulus in different ways Add birds above water surface to facilitate the detection of a fish shoal Fishing area library While most of NTPRO areas can be used for training in fishing operations, only areas specially developed for fishing simulator ensure most realistic training. Basic simulator scope of supply includes six fishing areas which have been developed with special attention paid to simulation of bottom relief. These areas are based on the following fishing charts: Area Effective and modern set of acoustic s The simulator comprises an omni-directional sonar, fish-finding echo-sounder and trawl. The user-friendly interface provides all the information on the fishing shoals, depth, bottom obstacles and trawling parameters during the exercise. 6 All the equipment is based on the latest s (JRC, Furuno, Simrad and Scanmar), which are used onboard fishing vessels all over the world with great success.
