Mother: Charles? This is little Charlie? We haven t seen him since he was a young boy. Grandfather: Strapping young chap, isn t he? Mother: Indeed. Welcome to our home. It s our pleasure to have you here. Father: Yes, pleasure. Apprentice: Well, thank you Mr. and Mrs. Staumbaugh. Your hospitality is most appreciated. Godfather tells me that you have the finest of holiday celebrations. Mother: Well you can always count on it being exciting, with many thanks to him. I can t believe how you ve grown. This is Felicia. She was just a baby. Felicia: So glad to meet you Charlie. Apprentice: Pleased to meet you as well Felicia. Mother: And you may remember Clara.

Apprentice: Clara ah yes,.i believe I do. She as well, looks quite different. Clara: Hello Charles. Apprentice: (bowing) Clara. Father: (interrupting) Grandfather, the children have been eagerly awaiting your arrival. They re very anxious to see what illusions you might share with them. Felicia: Yes Grandfather, and if it isn t too much to ask, I would so appreciate a toy of my own Mother: Felicia, please, we have discussed this. Grandfather doesn t always need to bring us gifts. Felicia: I m sorry mother Grandfather D: Not to worry little one, it s my pleasure and I believe I have something for everyone to enjoy. All the while, Felicia begins to get very sad but Clara notices. 2:23 2:39 Clara hands Felicia the Nutcracker to dance with but she accidentally drops it. (Martine) 2:39 2:58 GD repairs Nutcracker and once again gives to Clara. Felicia is very sorry. 2:57 3:08 Clara rocks her Nutcracker and all of the girls surround her. 3:08 3:22 Parents tell the children that it is time to go and they all begin to leave. Track 10 Clara and Apprentice Final Dance (1:16) :00 - :44 Clara and Apprentice dance (Martine) :45 1:15 (fade) Parents make them say good bye (Apprentice and GD exit)

Clara: What a fabulous evening it s been. Father:.and quite full of surprises thanks to good ole Grandfather. Mother: Yes dear, some surprises that might take you some time getting used to. Father: Indeed a loooong time. Felicia: Is there any chance you re talking about Charlie? Father: That s enough about Charlie. Mother: Actually it s time to put all discussion to rest as our night has come to an end. Clara: I must admit I am a little tired. Felicia: I m not. Mother: Regardless, you need your sleep. Tomorrow is going to be another wonderful day. Father: Good night ladies. (hugs and says good night) Father: Tonight was quite a success. Mother: Well thank you. Everyone did seem to be pleased. Would you mind. Clara: Excuse me. Mother: Clara? You were suppose. Clara: I know buy my nutcracker mother, it s so special, can I please take him with me? Mother: Ahhh, I can see you love your nutcracker Clara, but my guess is that he would make it very difficult for you to sleep. Father: I have to agree with your mother. Mother: I have a suggestion, why don t you leave your nutcracker under the tree and dream about him. Father: Yes Clara. Clara: Yes Mother and Father. Pause for Clara to leave Father: Mother, did you notice that Clara acts as if that nutcracker is a real prince? Mother: Grandfather does make his toys seem to come to life. You re going to have to get used to the idea of a prince coming along..a real prince. Father: I don t know that I can ever get used to that. Mother: You never know; there might be one right under your nose. Father: That reminds me. Have you looked under the tree? There might be a surprise from your prince. Mother: Really! Prince: Sugar Plum Fairy! Yes, this is Clara and she is more than a visitor. Clara saved me from the evil Mouse Queen and broke the wicked spell that was cast upon me.

Sugar Plum: How wonderful to meet such a brave young lady. We welcome you to the Land of Sweets where snowflakes taste like sugar. Clara: Land of Sweets?! Sugar snowflakes?! For some reason, I m not surprised. Sugar Plum: We owe you a great deal of appreciation and would love for you to be our Princess. Clara: A princess? Really? Prince: Yes, an honor well deserved. (sugar baby brings crown) Clara: I never imagined I would love to. Sugar Plum: Perfect! Now we have much to celebrate. Please follow me my prince and princess. Scene IV The Land of Sweets scenery change Sugar Plum: Please take your place at the throne and I will summon the sweets. Clara: This is so exciting. Thank you.
