FOR SALE 2009 DRAGON
2009 Petticrows Dragon for Sale Originally built for Rob Campbell [past IDA Chairman] in 2009 by Petticrows in their Burnham-on- Crouch factory where unusually, the hull remained in the mould curing for over two months. Delivery was effected before mid year in time for the European Racing season. This being Mr. Campbell s fourth Dragon was named Quicksilver 4. He raced successfully in the UK and Europe until she was shipped out to Melbourne, Australia for his use in the 2011 World Championship. She was purchased following the Worlds and have I successfully raced her throughout Australia ever since... but it is time to reinvest in the next boat, so she is up for sale. My wife wanted to name her Over Indulgence but we settled on Indulgence. She is registered in the Australian fleet as AUS 218. Always dry sailed both in UK/Europe and in Australia, Indulgence has been well cared for by Petticrows initially and more latterly by the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron where she now resides. In Australia, she is raced each weekend from September through April and enjoys several winter regattas as well. Indulgence comes on an older steel Harbeck trailer, the electronics/electrics of which were totally replaced in 2012 and boasts a single sailbox. Trailers in Australia must be inspected annually to maintain full registration so it is in great working order. This Petticrows build was the 3rd or 4th with the high floor boasting 2,750 litres of positive buoyancy. This assures the owner that she will take a long time to sink should the unthinkable happen. I am told the current Petticrows buoyancy specifications are the same as this 2009 build. Rob Campbell borrowed Indulgence for the 2013 Prince Philip Cup [Australasian National Championship] held in Hobart and managed to break her original mast, so the current standing rigging and mast were installed new in January of that year. Note: the backstay is wire while the [even newer] runners are rope. The systems layout are the standard Petticrows layout except for the spinnaker tweekers [more conveniently located port/starboard in the skippers bay slightly aft of the traveller bar], and the mast ram is a positive pull [forward/upwind]... negative pull [aft/downwind] allowing for fully cleated mid ram positions. This Dragon is the standard Petticrows White gelcote with an Aluminium Grey deck, coachouse, boot top and rudder. Her tiller is varnished, laminated mahogany as is the boom cradle/paddle.
