Sale Golf Club Newsletter Hi All, Welcome! Well a new month means that its time for another newsletter! The last few weeks members have been away representing Sale in Pennant throughout East Gippsland. Whilst the men have a spread out season, their matches still continue. However the women still have 3 remaining sides that are contesting their division flags on Monday at Bairnsdale. All people are encouraged to go and support these fine golfers. For your convenience there has been travel organised that can be read more about in Captain Pam s segment. Good luck to all playing. In other news, the Annual General Meeting has fast approached and will be held on Sunday 31 st at the Sale Golf Club. It would be great to see a big turnout from the membership so that it is as informative as possible. And as always, any contribution or recommendations for the newsletters future are encouraged! https://www.facebook.com/salegc http://www.salegolfclub.com.au

Presidents Report We have our Annual General Meeting on Sunday 31 st at 10am. It would be good to see as many of our members there as possible. The committee has had been very busy this year so come along to find out what has been happening and what may be happening in the future. The club has had a great month with our first Trivia night at the clubhouse with over a hundred people coming along. I would like to thank Adam Jackson for volunteering to run the trivia, it was a great night except, I didn t know many answers not even the golf bracket, and my table wasn t impressed. The Social Committee was very impressed with the turn out. The bar was extra busy throughout the night. Thanks Alan, a great job again. We had a very good Business Challenge Day, having Forty one teams playing 3 Ball Ambrose giving us a total of One Hundred and Twenty Three golfers the most golfer for a number of years on our golf course. The winners were Michael Love, Shaun Maxfield and Ken Anderson, Nathan Maxfield representing Sale City Holden our major Sponsor presented the winners with Jeremy Fleming Jewellers watches, thanks Jeremy. Thanks to Bruce Carter and Mark Durrant for organising, it ran very smoothly. Thanks to Matt Portelli for running the 3 rd hole challenge with Robert Kennedy winner the Voucher. We had the passing of a very good and long serving member in Graeme Trembath. Our thoughts are with Heather and Family. We also had the arrival of a baby Daughter to our Treasure Daniel and Tracey Gall both are doing very well, Congratulations! I would like to thank all the volunteers this month have done a great job. We had a small working bee finishing off the second rental house painting, laying of pavers in the course men s toilet and cleaning up the area behind kitchen. The Golf Course is in great condition thanks to all the Course staff and volunteers. If you haven t been out for a while come out and have a look, fairway are very good and the greens a running very well. They are continuing to get our bunkers better; as this is one area your questionnaire showed need improving. I would like to thank Greg Meldrum for giving up his time to train us on the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). He explained how it worked and how to use it. We need more Members to get familiar with it. It is in the Clubhouse to help us, hopefully we won t need to use it. Thanks to Greg for the training it was very useful. Our corporate committee continues to get more sponsors. The new tee signs will be installed in about a month, they will give our course a huge lift. If anyone knows a business or wants to sponsor our golf club please contact our corporate committee. We had our first Holden Golf Day during the month with a shotgun start with ninety seven players. Nathan Maxfield from Holden presented the winning prizes. We thank Sale City Holden for their sponsorship; it has helped us bring a few projects forward. The Sale Golf Club Holden Scramble date is now finalised, it is on the Sunday the 20 th September. Get your teams organised they are teams of four playing Ambrose. We had our monthly meeting this week, our last for this committee. We talked about the leasing equipment as compared to buying second-hand; we are following up to see what is best. The Veteran Golfers have donated money to go towards the fixing up the eaves of the club house, thanks vets. The corporate committee is in talks with the Sale Greyhound Club, it look very good for them to become one of our sponsors. The new storage shed for our course equipment will

Presidents Report Continued soon be built, this will give Darren a bit of room. The communication tower lease agreement buy out is not a good as it first looked. The committee is looking into a better deal. The club tournament is coming up at the end of July and Pam Schaper has again put her hand up for tournament secretary. Pam will need a hand as a few committee members are away on holiday. I would like to thank all the committee this last year for all the effort they all have put in, it has been a bit of a challenge but the end results have been amazing. I would like to thank Mal Kirkpatrick for his work on the committee he is standing down from the committee Good golfing and see you all the AGM President Greg Lady Captains Report Well done to all our Pennant players for a great season. We have 3 out of 4 teams through to the final next Monday. We will be heading to Bairnsdale on a bus full of players, caddies and supporters. Anyone wishing to go on the bus please contact Jan Embling. Div 1 play Maffra. Div 3 play Orbost and Div 4 play Maffra - Good golfing to all. Our playgolf clinics were a great success, special thanks to Matt Portelli, ably assisted by Peter Neligan with Tracey Potter and Helen Wood for coming along to meet and greet the participants. Coming up on Tues 23rd June, we have our Jeremy Fleming Jewellers Day, once again Jeremy will be donating vouchers for day. I encourage you all to invite someone along to this special day. The event is 4BBB. New Members The Golf Club would like to extend the warmest of welcomes to our new members: Peter Lear (Full Member) Allan Green (Full Member) Good golfing to all!

Pro Report Hello Members and Visitors, During the months of April and May I have conducted the five session long "give golf a go" clinics. We had a total of twenty seven participants which were divided into three groups (Junior, Beginner and Intermediate levels). The five week program included basic fundamentals, short game, full swing, etiquette and finished with us playing some holes out on the course on Sunday. Congratulations to all Participants. There is certainly some golfing talent amongst the groups and I hope to see the Students practicing their new skills on the range and course. A special thank you to Peter Neligan, Pam Schaper, Liz P-C and Helen Wood who volunteered with the organisation and successful implementation of the program. The "give golf a go" program will be run again over the coming Spring. Until then I will be running a clinic every Sunday starting from the 14th June from 10am for those that are new to the game or have completed the recent program. Bookings are essential and can be made via the Pro-Shop prior to each Sunday. Cost is $20 per person per clinic. I will be including a small column in future newsletters which will include teaching updates and tips. Stay tuned! Until next time I look forward to seeing you at Sale Golf Club. Keep swinging, Matt Portelli

2015 Business Challenge 2015 saw the biggest field in years at the Sale Golf Club for the annual Business Challenge. Forty-one teams entered playing 3 ball Ambrose - a total of one hundred and twenty three golfers. We had a shotgun start that had the field finishing together. There was a lot of talk in the clubhouse afterwards about ALL the good shots. A great day as had by all especially on the third hole where players had to beat the Sale Golf Professional Matt Portelli's to go into the draw for a golf club voucher with the eventual winner being Robert Kennedy. Trivia Night Winners on the day were: centre Shaun Maxfield, Micheal Love and Ken Anderson missing from photo our major sponsor Nathan Maxfield representative for Sale City Holden presented the Jeremy Fleming Jewellers watches. The golf club recently held a very successful night hosting a Trivia Night. It was a very enjoyable night by all and hopefully can be repeated again.
