Equestrian South Australia (ESA) and Dressage South Australia (DSA) will conduct the 2017 South Australian Dressage Championships under the auspices of Equestrian Australia (EA) in strict accordance with EA National Dressage Rules for Official Competitions (current edition), and the FEI Rules for Dressage Events (current edition).

2. (a) Riders taking part in the Event must be financial members of EA. In open competition riders must be 10 years or over on the day of competition (or at least eight years old if riding a pony). (b) Horses and ponies in the competition must be registered with EA, have a current Competition Licence for Dressage or Pony Dressage and be owned by a financial member of EA. All horses and ponies may compete at only two (2) consecutive levels. 3. Swabbing: Random swabbing will take place as required by the EA National Dressage Rules governing State Championship events and in accordance with the FEI Veterinary Rules, subject to any amendment or inclusions as at the date of the event. Please make yourself aware of prohibited substances and the relevant withdrawal period. Check the ingredients of all products you are using including herbal products with your vet. Security and access to the horse is the sole responsibility of the owner/rider. 4. All tests are as per current EA tests as at the date of the event, or current FEI tests. No test may be commanded. Horses and ponies may not compete Hors Concours at this event. 5. Entry Forms must be correctly and fully completed. Any errors and omissions may result in the entry being rejected. Entries close midnight, Monday, 30 Jan 2017. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. 6. Competition Licences: A photocopy of both sides of each horse's current Competition Licence must accompany entries. Competition performances must be recorded. ENTRIES WILL NOT be accepted unless this is included. HC performances used as qualifications must also be recorded or a copy of the relevant test must be included with the entries. 7. Horses in EA and FEI classes must exceed 149cms with shoes or 148cms without shoes 8. Any horse may compete in two consecutive levels only and a maximum of three tests within those levels (which may include a freestyle) at EA Level and a maximum of two tests (which may include a freestyle) at FEI Level can be ridden on any single day. If entering a Freestyle class it must be the appropriate level for the combination. 9. No rider may ride more than 2 horses in any competition. 10. REFUNDS: A full refund of fees will be given for entries not accepted or balloted out. Once an entry is accepted, the Judges Levy and Admin, Swab and Grounds Levy is non-refundable. DEPOSITS, where applicable, will be refunded after each horse has completed all its nominated tests or is scratched before 12.00 noon on Wednesday, 8th March 2017. ENTRY FEES - fifty percent (50%) of entry fees less the Judge s Levy and Admin Levy will be refunded upon presentation of a Veterinary Certificate or Medical Certificate, which must be presented to the committee no later than two days after the competition. Where a horse is on a reserve list and does not compete in that competition, or has to scratch and is replaced by a reserve, then all (100%) of the entry fee for that competition will be refunded. 11. Bridle numbers must be worn with one on each side of the horse (bridle or saddle blanket); they are the responsibility of the competitor to provide. The SA Bridle number system will apply. For stallions, EA recognised Stallion Disks must be worn at all times in accordance with EA Rules. 12. PRIZE MONEY: Winners and placegetters in all classes will be presented with ribbons or rosettes to a maximum of 8 th place (depending on entries) and prize money and/or vouchers and/or product of equivalent or greater value, to 3 rd place. If applicable, prize money will be paid to winners and placegetters via electronic funds transfer and within fourteen (14) days after the completion of the event it is therefore essential that you complete the PRIZE MONEY / REFUNDS FORM as a part of your entries for this competition. If you are registered for GST, prize money will be inclusive of GST.

All presentations will be unmounted at the end of each day s competition and competitors must be in full competition attire. Failure to comply will result in withdrawal of prizes and prize money. 13. Protests must be lodged in writing, together with a $50.00 deposit, no later than 30 minutes after the incident which gives rise to the dispute. The deposit will be refunded only if the protest is upheld. 14. Test Sheets can be collected from the Secretary's Office once all results for the competition have been officially posted. 15. Freestyle tests will be held on Sunday. These tests must be ridden to music. CDs must be lodged with the secretary ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE START OF THE EVENT. A horse may enter only one freestyle event. A freestyle bond of $25.00 is included as a part of your entry for the freestyle tests. After completion of your test and following the competition you will be sent a refund of the freestyle bond. It is advised that riders supply two (2) copies on different brands of CDs in case of malfunction. Competitors may arrange to check their music with the producer by mutual arrangement. 16. YOUTH DRESSAGE RIDER COMPETITION: Specific classes are offered at this event. To enter the horse/pony must have obtained qualifications in official competition at the level in which it is entered (see qualifications). 17. Pony classes are offered from Preliminary to Elementary. If five or more entries are received for Ponies for Medium and above, they will compete in separate classes, otherwise they will compete in Open competition. Ponies require qualifications for tests as per the schedule. 18. The Committee reserves the right to withdraw prize-money or cancel classes with insufficient starters, or limit entries at their discretion. 19. BALLOTING OF ENTRIES: There will be a limit of 35 horses per event with six reserves and one division only in all classes. Where more than 35 entries are received balloting will occur. Balloting will be based on the average of the highest percentages of three tests at the particular level, back twelve months from the date of close of entries. The 35 highest average percentages will be accepted in each competition. Horses with three performances will be considered ahead of those who have two or only one performance percentage. A HC performance will be considered to be a qualification, but will be balloted as above. 20. THE DRAW: Will be strictly adhered to and riders must present to THE MARSHALL 15 minutes prior to their specified times. Failure to present to the judge at the correct time may incur elimination. 21. GEAR STEWARD: EA competitors must present to the Gear Steward prior to each test. FEI competitors will be gear checked either before their test or at the conclusion of their test (at the rider's discretion), and prior to leaving the marshalling area. FAILURE TO DO SO SHALL INCUR ELIMINATION. 22. SCRATCHINGS: Must be given to the Equestrian South Australia Office by 12.00 noon on Wednesday, 8th March 2017 (08) 8391 0488. 23. The draw will be available via the Equestrian South Australia website www.sa.equestrian.org.au. 24. Protective headgear please refer to the Equestrian Australia National Dressage Rules for Official Competitions (current edition). 25. LIABILITY: NEITHER THE ORGANISING COMMITTEE, EA, ESA, DSA OR THE OWNERS/LESSEES OF THE VENUE ACCEPT ANY LIABILITY FOR ACCIDENT, DAMAGE, INJURY OR ILLNESS TO HORSES, OWNERS, RIDERS, SPECTATORS, PERSONS OR PROPERTY WHATSOEVER.

The current version of the Equestrian Australia Rules for Dressage can be downloaded from the Equestrian Australia website www.equestrian.org.au or purchased from the ESA Office for $30.00 + $4 postage and handling. QUALIFICATIONS PRELIMINARY Must have obtained 60% or more of the total possible marks at Preliminary level in the 12 months prior to close of entries (Monday, 30 Jan 2017)) and be graded Preliminary. NOVICE Must have obtained 60% or more of the total possible marks at Novice level in the preceding 12 months prior to close of entries (Monday, 30 Jan 2017)) and be graded no higher than Novice level. ELEMENTARY Must have obtained 58% or more of the total possible marks at Elementary level in the preceding 12 months prior to close of entries (Monday, 30 Jan 2017) and be graded no higher than Elementary level. MEDIUM Must have obtained 55% or more of the total possible marks at Medium level in the preceding 12 months prior to close of entries (Monday, 30 Jan 2017)) and be graded no higher than Medium level. ADVANCED Must have obtained 55% or more of the total possible marks at Advanced level in the preceding 12 months prior to close of entries (Monday, 30 Jan 2017)) and be graded no higher than Advanced level. PRIX ST GEORGES, INTERMEDIATE 1, INTERMEDIATE II & GRAND PRIX Must have obtained 55% or more of the total possible marks at the relevant FEI level in the preceding 12 months prior to close of entries (Monday, 30 Jan 2017)). FREESTYLE Freestyle tests do not incur grading points. The Freestyle classes are unofficial competitions, with a combined EA Freestyle group (Elementary to Advanced) and a combined FEI Freestyle group (Prix St George, Intermediate I and Grand Prix). There is no qualifying score to reach in GP at the championships in order to compete in the GP Freestyle. YOUTH DRESSAGE RIDER: See Condition 16 PONY: See Condition 17. HAVE I QUALIFIED? You need ONE performance at 60% for Preliminary or Novice, ONE performance at 58% for Elementary, and ONE performance at 55% across all other levels to allow you to make an entry. If this is your only performance, it may be HC. FURTHER PERFORMANCES are required for balloting purposes only. They do not have to be >55%, but must have been gained in Official competition.

YARDS AT VENUE: Under cover yards are available at the Grounds. Yards can be booked for $10 per day. Yards must be cleaned before leaving. (Please see the steward to check yard on each day of departure to ensure your yard deposit is approved for return). FLOATS AND TRUCKS: Will be able to park within the grounds in the designated area; see below for camping details should you wish to stay overnight. CAMPING: Facilities are available for camping at the grounds. Powered sited - $15 per night, unpowered sites - $10 per night. Please book your site with your entries. FODDER: Can be ordered and delivered to the grounds. Please arrange this directly with Daish Irrigation & Fodder- (08) 8536 4422 HOTEL ACCOMMODATION: Accommodation is available at the Strath Motel - http://www.strathmotel.com.au/ Phone (08) 8536 3311. There are also a number of local Bed and Breakfasts. DRESSAGE WARM UP ARENAS: The designated Warm Up Arena will be available for general work and pre-test warm-up. No lunging will be allowed on the Warm Up Arena. Lunging will only be allowed in the designated Lunging Arenas. ARENA FAMILIARISATION: During each morning of the competition, as well as on the preceding Friday, time will be made available for arena familiarization on the Strathalbyn grounds. These times will be listed in the draw. LUNGING: Lunging will only be allowed in a specified area that will be shown on the final event map. AGGREGATE CHAMPIONSHIPS The selection of Competitive Preliminary, Novice, Elementary, Medium, Advanced and Youth Rider Champions will be made using the ranking points system see current EA Rules for Dressage. Placegetters in each event will receive points for their placing eg 30 for first, 29 for second etc. The total number of points at each level for each horse will be added and the horse with the highest number of

points will become the Champion for that level. Where there is an equality of points, the Champion will be the horse with the highest aggregate % at that level. The selection of the Pony Champion will be made by combining the performances of consecutive level classes (either Preliminary and Novice or Novice and Elementary or Elementary and Medium etc) and using the ranking points system as per the EA Rules for Dressage. Where there is an equality of points, the Championship will be decided according to percentages. Amateur Owner-Riders (AOR) must nominate as AOR when entering. You will be flagged as an AOR rider, however will compete with others in your nominated event. Separate Championship and ribbons/rosettes will be awarded to AORs for the aggregate of each EA level and overall FEI Champion. The selection of the AOR Champions at Preliminary, Novice, Elementary, Medium and Advanced will be made using a separate ranking points system for declared AOR in each competition, using the current Equestrian Australia Rules for Dressage as a guide. AOR ranking in each event will be allocated points for their placing eg 30 for 1 st, 29 for 2 nd etc. The total number of points at each level for each horse will be added and the horse with the highest number of points will be the Champion for that level. Where there is an equality of points, the Champion will be the horse with the highest aggregate percentage at that level. NOTE: no AOR for freestyles. The FEI AOR Champion will be based on an aggregate of two FEI levels AND appropriate freestyle, using the same points system. To be the AOR FEI Champion, the horse must compete in two FEI Classes and the appropriate freestyle for its level (see starting possibilities in rule within the current Equestrian Australia Rules for Dressage.) Interschool riders must nominate as Interschool when entering. You will be flagged as an Interschool rider, however will compete with others in your nominated event. Separate ribbons will be awarded to Interschool riders. Para-Equestrian Champion will be made by combining performances across all classes, using the ranking points system as per the EA Rules for Dressage. Where there is an equality of points, the Championship will be decided according to percentages.
