RULES FOR PLOUGHING COMPETITIONS The Term Competitor shall include all persons and their exhibits and equipment taking part in any competition arranged by the Melplash Agricultural Society Limited 1. Tractor Ploughing Classes. The tractors used in any class must be unmodified general purpose ploughs except class 7, 8, and 9. 2. No help must be given to competitors in any way except in Novice classes where verbal advice may be given. No GPS devices are allowed. 3. Competitors must not enter in more than one class, except Young Farmers Club Members in Class 10, who may also enter in Classes 12 or 13 according to type of plough used. 4. In tractor Ploughing Classes, strike out (must be completed by 10.30am) on their peg and gather three runs to two furrow ploughs and two runs for three or more furrows, and throw abroad the rest. 5. Local entries are confined to persons resident within a radius of 12 miles of Melplash Church. 6. Novice is a Competitor who has not won a 1 st prize in any previous Melplash Agricultural Society Hedgelaying and Ploughing Match. 7. No passengers are allowed to ride on a competitor's tractor or plough at any time. 8. All Tractors bought to the match must have Third Party Insurance for competition ploughing. 9. Points will be deducted if plot numbers are lost. 10. Disclaimer of Liability: The Melplash Agricultural Society Limited shall not be liable for the death of, or injury to, or for any damage to any property of, or any losses, or other liability, incurred by the competitor, his servants or agents except where such death, injury or loss is due to the negligence of the Melplash Agricultural Society Limited.

CLASS 8 VINTAGE TRAILED To plough about 0.25 acres of land per furrow with a tractor registered before 1960 with no assisted steering. If hydraulics are fitted, they will not be used. Ploughs to be Trailer Ploughs. CLASS 9 VINTAGE HYDRAULIC To plough about 0.25 acres of land per furrow with a hydraulically operated vintage tractor and vintage plough registered before 1960 with no assisted steering. C23 CLASS 10 THE JACK DARE MEMORIAL TROPHY will be awarded to the Champion Vintage Ploughman MATCH PLOUGHING To plough about 0.75 acres of land with a 2 furrow match plough. National Rules Apply. S60 BEST STRIKE OUT: The Society s Prize Card for the BEST STRIKE OUT in classes 8, 9 and 10.

S61 C CLASS 11 BEST FINISH: The Society s Prize Card for the BEST FINISH in classes 8, 9 and 10. CHAMPION PLOUGHMAN, VINTAGE TRACTOR, VINTAGE HYDRAULIC OR MATCH PLOUGH PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP presented by Blandford and Webb Group Ltd to the competitor in Classes 7, 8 and 9 who shall best plough the land required, and a plaque for the Winner to retain. Reserve shall receive a certificate. YOUNG FARMERS GENERAL PURPOSE PLOUGHING Confined to members of the Young Farmers Club. To plough with a General Purpose or a Reversible Plough 0.50 acre of land per furrow. THE STREATFEILD PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP, kindly presented by the STREATFEILD HOOD AND CO LTD., will be awarded to the Winner of Class 11, together with a plaque for retention. INTER-CLUB SILVER PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP kindly presented by J R B BOWDITCH ESQ., to be awarded to the Young Farmers Club with the three highest individual scores for Ploughing in Class 11, together with three plaques for retention by the Winners. CLASS 12 CLASSIC TRACTOR & PLOUGH. Open to tractors and mounted ploughs manufactured without a Q cab (generally prior to 31st December 1976). Ploughs to be manufactured before 31st December 1976 and to exclude Fiskars, Kverneland Hydrien or Kverneland Super Hydrien and Ransomes Bonning ploughs.

THE TONY ASCOTT PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP kindly present by Tony Ascott will be awarded to the winner of class 12. CLASS 13 CLASS 14 CLASS 15 TO PLOUGH 1 OR 1.5 ACRES OF LAND with a tractor and hydraulically operated two or three furrow plough. TO PLOUGH 2 OR MORE ACRES OF LAND with a tractor and hydraulically operated four or more furrow plough (0.5 acres for each furrow). CONTRACTOR CHALLENGE Each contractor will plough 2 acres of their choice. Reversible ploughs to use both left and right hand board. Winner of class 15 will be awarded SILVER PERPETUAL CHALLENGE TROPHY kindly presented by Creed Brothers, Seaborough with a Plaque for retention. Competitors in all Classes must state on entry form the number of furrows. C21 C22 CHAMPION PLOUGHMAN (OPEN) SILVER PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP presented by Col. Sir Stuart Mallinson, CBE, DSO, MC, DL awarded to the competitor in classes 12, 13, 14 and15 who shall best plough the land required, and a plaque for the Winner to retain. Reserve to receive a certificate CHAMPION PLOUGHMAN (LOCAL) SILVER PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP awarded to the Local Competitor in classes 12, 13, 14 and15 who shall best plough the land required, and a plaque for the winner to retain.
