Discussion Jeff Bartley presented the NC811 report. April is Safe Digging Month and we were reminded that we should become Safe Digging Partners. You can do this by going to www.nc811.org/safe-diggingpartner.html. Also, you can train your employees on safe digging practices by going to www.ncpipesplus.org and take the training online, this is a free service. Locate requests for Harnett County were up 28.5% from last year and in Johnston County they were up 13.4%. Overall locate requests year to date were up 33.2% from 2015. Lillington and Angier had the most locate requests in Harnett County and Clayton had the most in Johnston County. 62% of all submittals were done by Remote Ticket Entry this month. There were 704 damages in 57 counties in March 2016. The Safe Digging Partner for March is PSNC Energy. NC811 is a cosponsor with PSNC for two baseball games in April, one is a Durham Bulls game on April 8 th and the other is an Asheville Tourists game on April 15 th. The have also cosponsored a Charlotte Knights baseball game on April 22 nd with Piedmont Natural Gas. NC811 now has 40 locations with billboards educating consumers to call before they dig. The Joint NC SC UCC Conference will take place from May 4-6 and the April Board Meeting will take place on April 22 nd. The full NC811 report is attached to these minutes. Michael with Piedmont Natural Gas said that they have a new contractor, Parker Stock Steel. David with SREMC said that the also have a new URD contractor, DSI. Ryan Weston with NCAEC asked if we put paint on the ground after we install new line in case a locate has already been done. It is possible that a locate could be called in, the locator could go mark and then a utility comes out and puts in lines before the person who called in the locate arrives to dig. Michael with PNG said that they do put paint on the ground after installing new lines and so do their contractors. Cammie with CenturyLink said they don t but it is a good idea.
