There will be over 23,000 participants at the event. 3. 03 Registration Process HOW TO JOIN TEAM UM Register online at www.miami.edu/corporaterun. You will need to complete the following steps: 1. Select the Team UM registration link that best represents your status (i.e. employee or non-employee) and the campus where you will pick up your race packet. Notes: Student employees should register as guests. If you are registering someone other than yourself, make sure to use the appropriate link based on their status and pick-up location. 2. Complete the online registration form. 3. Click the I agree button after reading the Agreement and Release Form, then click Continue. 4. Review your information and enter your credit card information, then click Complete Registration. Notes: A $15 subsidy will automatically be applied for the first 800 employees who register. Team FootWorks will not provide refunds, transfers, or substitutions even in cases of cancellation. Non-employees who accidentally register as employees will be asked to refund the $15 subsidy. Once you have registered, a confirmation email will be sent to the Team UM Captain, Ashley Falcon, and you will automatically be added to the Team UM roster. You must pick up your packet from the campus you designated during registration. No transfers will be made. Participants who register as part of a team for the Team UM President s Cup Office Challenge will pick up their race packets directly from their Team Leader (unless arranged otherwise). Packet Pick-up Proxy Participants who are unable to pick up their packet can designate a proxy by sending an email to afalcon1@miami.edu. Please include the following information in the email: your full name, C#, and your proxy s full name. 05 Corporate Run and Team UM Shirts CORPORATE RUN SHIRTS Team FootWorks s registration only accepts small through 2X-large shirt orders. Sizes outside of this range are not available for the Corporate Run shirt. TEAM UM SHIRTS Team UM shirts are guaranteed to the first 800 participants to register for the race. Every effort will be made to provide all participants with a Team UM shirt in their requested size. No shirt exchanges will be made if your shirt is not the correct size. Please take your measurements and use the sizing chart below before selecting your shirt size. Please note that Team UM shirts are unisex. WAIST: Measure around waistline all around. *ORDERING YOUR TEAM UM SHIRT Participants who select a small, medium, large, X-large, or 2X-large shirt order during the registration process do not need to take any further steps. Participants who would like a 2X-small, X-small, 3X-large, or 4X-large Team UM shirt (not Corporate Run shirt) will need to send an email request to the Team Captain, Ashley Falcon, at afalcon1@miami.edu. If no special request is made, the Team UM shirt size will be the same as the Team FootWorks Corporate Run shirt size selected during registration. TEAM UM SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST Submit the winning design for the 2013 Corporate Run and it will be worn by hundreds and seen by thousands! The deadline to submit a design is February 28. Submit your design to wellnesscenter@miami.edu. www.miami.edu/corporaterun Team UM 5

Submissions must: Include the theme Canes Reign, Team UM, Corporate Run 2013 Only use the colors green and white in the design Design must fit on the front of the shirt, within a 12 W x 15 H area Be submitted in a PDF file format A committee comprised of Corporate Run team leaders will choose the winning design. The winner will receive a $100 gift card* to the bookstore and a framed corporate run shirt signed by President Shalala. * May be subject to payroll tax if prize is awarded to a UM faculty or staff member. 06 Seeded Runners and Sebastian s Squad (Walkers) SEEDED RUNNERS The fastest 10% of Team UM s participants are eligible to receive a seeded runner wristband. This wristband will allow you into the front of the crowd at the start line before the race. Participants interested in receiving a wristband should enter their predicted race time during the registration process. Wristbands will be given out based on the predicted race times from registration. SEBASTIAN S SQUAD Team UM has a special feature on the race course Sebastian the Ibis! If you are a walker that is not associated with a team leader or departmental team and would like company along the race course, join Sebastian s Squad. Squad members will receive a button to wear on race day and have a designated meeting area at the tent location. Squad members may also walk with Sebastian the Ibis, but be prepared for shenanigans and fun times there s no telling what Sebastian will do on the course! 07 Race Day Information SCHEDULE OF EVENTS 6:20 pm Team UM Photos 6:30 pm Warm-ups and Stretching at the Main Stage 6:45 pm Race start 7:15 pm Food and beverages available at the Team UM tent 8:30 pm Race Awards Ceremony and Raffle Prize Giveaway RACE DAY ATTIRE In addition to wearing your Team UM shirt to show your Canes pride, remember to wear comfortable clothing and shoes for the race. Race numbers must be clearly visible on the front of the torso during the race, displayed in full view, and may not be folded or cut in anyway. Optional items to consider bringing include towels (big/small), bug spray, and a camera. Pack as lightly as you can, and leave personal belongings at the Team UM tent at your own risk. RACE TRANSPORTATION A complimentary EASY pass will be provided for you and can be found in your race packet. Use the pass to ride the Metrorail and Metro Mover to and from the race. Remember to get to the race site as early as possible. Public transit will be very crowded closer to the start of the event. Directions Take the rail north from the Gables campus or south from the Medical campus to the Government Center station downtown. Then, on the Metromover, take the inner loop or Omni loop to the Bayfront Park station. Race site maps are included in your race packet. This will help you locate the TEAM UM TENT. Parking will be limited and most streets close to the race site will be blocked off preventing cars from entering. www.miami.edu/corporaterun Team UM 7

TEAM UM TENT LOCATION Team UM will be located in the beach (sandy) area of Bayfront Park to the left of the Main Stage. See the race site map for directions. Travel with other Team UM participants to avoid getting lost in the crowd! Snacks and refreshments will be available in the tent area before the race. There will be lots of pedestrian traffic and many tents scattered around the park. Feel free to see the sites, but remember that the path highlighted here is the easiest way to get to the Team UM tent. After crossing Biscayne Blvd. into Bayfront Park, follow the sidewalk along Biscayne Blvd. until you reach the Main Drag that leads up to the Corporate Run stage. Hang a left at the stage, walking alongside the large fountain until you see the sandy beach area! www.miami.edu/corporaterun Team UM 8

TEAM UM PHOTOS Team UM will meet for a team photo at 6:20 pm immediately outside of the beach (sandy) area of Bayfront Park and in front of the large fountain. Announcements will be made over the sound system to encourage Team UM participants to move to the picture taking area prior to the photo. Race warm-ups will follow within the Team UM tent area as well as at the Main Stage. Team Leaders will arrange for their group to take a separate picture prior to the Team UM photo. TEAM UM PARTY This year s theme is Canes Reign, so bring your most regal of accessories! The party begins as soon as you get back to the tent from the race. Delicious food (way more than last year!) and refreshments (water and sports drinks) will be available. Be prepared to provide your meal ticket to event staff in the food line. RACE AWARDS AND RAFFLE The winner of the President s Cup Office Challenge will be announced at the Awards Ceremony beginning at 8:30pm (1 hour and 45 minutes after the start of the race). Additional race awards will be given to Team UM s fastest females and males by age range. All participants are eligible. Team UM Award 29 years and under 40-49 years old Categories 30-39 years old 50 years and older Team FootWorks race awards for fastest Men s, Women s, and Co-ed teams (employees only) in the Education Division will be announced at a later date. Team UM raffle prizes will be given out immediately after the Awards Ceremony. Raffle prize winners must be present to win, so plan your race time accordingly (see training resources for assistance). Raffle prizes include big and exciting items, including 4 chances to win an American Airlines plane ticket! www.miami.edu/corporaterun Team UM 9

10 Training Resources Online training resources are available at www.miami.edu/corporaterun for runners and walkers who want to prepare for the event or improve their time from last year s race. GABLES CAMPUS TRAINING PROGRAM NEW THIS YEAR! Employees are encouraged to participate in a new training program lead by Herbert Wellness Center professionals and UM Kinesiology students. The training program, for runners and walkers, will begin in March. If you are interested in participating in the program, please email the Team Captain, Ashley Falcon, at afalcon1@miami.edu. 10 Frequently Asked Questions It says Corporate RUN, but can I walk? Of course! Walkers are encouraged to participate. The majority of Team UM is comprised of walkers. Visit www.miami.edu/corporaterun for training resources. What company organizes the Corporate Run? Team FootWorks! UM is one of many teams participating in the race. The rules and regulations are set by Team FootWorks. Team FootWorks even gives a portion of the proceeds to a good cause. What is the age limit for kids participation? This is at the discretion of the parent. The parent must accompany the child. Can I walk with my baby s stroller? Afraid not. Baby joggers and strollers are prohibited anywhere along the race course. Their use will result in disqualification of the individual and possibly Team UM. What if I fail to pick-up my race pack on the designated dates? Packets must be picked up during packet pick up times. No exceptions. www.miami.edu/corporaterun Team UM 10

Can non-um affiliates participate? Anyone can join Team UM! Non-UM affiliates run/walk times will not be included in the TeamFootWorks competition portion of the event and non- UM employees are not eligible to receive the registration subsidy. However, guest are eligible to win Team UM raffle prizes. Individuals of all ages are welcome. Where does my race entry fee go? TeamFootWorks owns and operates the Corporate Run Series. Operating expenses (e.g. permit fees, medical, T-shirts, food & beverage, event operations) exceed revenues taken in from registration; however, a portion of each entry fee will benefit the United Way. The Team UM Party is funded not by entry fees, but by generous donations from Benefits Administration, the Office of the Provost, and additional sponsors. Is this only for runners or serious athletes? No! This is meant to be a Fun Run and/or Walking Event. As a matter of fact, Team UM typically averages about 50% or more walkers. Either way, if you d like information about how to train for the event, visit the Team UM Corporate Run website at www.miami.edu/corporaterun for resources. 11 President s Cup Office Challenge The Office Challenge encourages as many UM folks to join Team UM on race day as possible. The 2013 participation goal is 1,200! Team Leaders will recruit as many individuals as they can for a chance to win the President s Cup! GET INVOLVED Contact the Team UM Team Captain to register your group, recruit folks to your team, and submit your roster by April 5. Or join an existing group by contacting a Team Leader. ELIGIBILITY Team Leaders are NOT limited to recruiting only their departmental members for this challenge. Teams may include guests (i.e. students, family members, and friends) or members of different UM departments. The point of the challenge is to encourage enthusiastic individuals to recruit as many participants as possible in order to boost overall TEAM UM participation.
