Latest news Spurs Ladies take first WSL 1 scalp Another day, another milestone for Spurs Ladies. Thursday night s 2-0 win against Bristol City in the first group match of the Women s Super League Continental Tyres Cup represented their first against WSL 1 opposition. Even better, it was achieved with a different approach and system, a disciplined 4-3-1-2 to counter Bristol City s threats - a team packed with internationals who pushed Arsenal all the way in a 1-1 draw in WSL 1 on Sunday. Lauren Pickett and Bianca Baptiste scored the goals to secure this notable success with the team further boosted by a first start in almost a year for striker Katie O Leary, back from a serious knee injury. The Visitors BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION WOMEN In their original guise as Brighton GPO, the club reached the semi-final of The FA Women s Cup in 1975/1976. In 1990 they linked up with the men s club and became founder members of the Premier League in 1991/1992, in Division 1 South. In 2015 the manager set a five-year plan to reach The FA Women s Super League 1 and UEFA Women s Champions League qualification. That season they missed promotion to the FA WSL 2 though by finishing runners-up to Portsmouth FC Ladies. In 2015/2016 they won the Southern Division of The FA Women s Premier League and the following Championship Play Off match against FA WPL Northern Division Champions Sporting Club Albion Women. Following their play-off victory their promotion to the FA WSL 2 was confirmed. This summer former England boss Hope Powell was named manager of Women s Super League 2 side Brighton & Hove Albion. She was in charge of the national team between 1998 and 2013 and also managed the Great Britain side at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. After beating Yeovil 4-2 in their first FA WSL Continental Cup match, before they come to Spurs, the Seagulls come up against WSL1 high-flyers Chelsea Ladies on Wednesday 1 November. #SPURSREMEMBERS The Club will pay its respects to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in armed conflict at next Sunday s home match with Doncaster Rover Belles. As we enter this period of Remembrance, we shall observe a Minute s Silence prior to kick-off. We should like to remind fans to please be respectful of this if entering the ground close to kick-off. Please also note that the period of silence will start and end on the referee s whistle not the end of the Last Post. Serving members of our Armed Forces Spurs Official Supporters Club, representing the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force will be present at the match and form a Guard of Honour before the teams enter the field of play. Armed Forces Spurs is the Official Spurs Supporters Club for serving and former members of the British Armed Forces and over the past year has almost doubled in the number of active members, with 200 supporters currently registered. Initially formed in Afghanistan in November, 2012, by a small band of Spurs fans serving in the RAF, the Supporters Club now encompasses all UK service personnel worldwide. Next weekend s match has been dedicated to supporting the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. Poppies will be available from Poppy Sellers present at the game and we encourage fans to make a donation. A special edition Tottenham Hotspur Poppy Pin Badge will also be available to purchase for a minimum donation of 3 to the Legion.
